Same here TM.

Yesterday I talked with a business associate who traveled from time to time with me in China.

He was lamenting the lack of safety for Western executives in China.

Then I read this today.

https://www.asiatimes.com/2019/08/article/canadians-tortured-while-red-princess-goes-shopping/

If I still needed to be in China, don't know if I would go today.

Still safe for tourists, but business people, maybe a bit more risky.

BTW, Asia Times is HK based, reasonably "neutral".

Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., defended the presence of both legal and illegal immigrants on Tuesday, asking his constituents: "Who do you think is mowing our beautiful lawns?"

Not black kids from the inner city who could be learning valuable work ethic lessons.

Of course by pointing this out I am simply confirming my White Supremacist attitude.

Interesting thread on Twitter, Google and Facebook.

About that meatless diet thing:

EVOLUTION IN ACTION: Vegan parents whose strict diet left baby ‘severely malnourished’ avoid jail. “Authorities discovered the couple’s child so malnourished that at 19-months she weighed just 4.9 kilograms (10.8 pounds). Further medical tests revealed that her bones had not developed since birth. Her development was so stunted she didn’t even have any teeth, Seven News reported. Her parents said they had kept the girl on a strict vegan diet.”

Magnum PI: we watched it faithfully when Jr was growing up. It was certainly part of why he was inspired to go to USNA. Then, I think in his Firstie Year, he ends up standing a few feet from Magnum when they shoot the final episode of the show on campus. Coincidentally Jr picks Intel as his career path and three yrs later ends up stationed on Oahu. Not a bad role model, all things considered. Never grew a mustache, though. :)

I, on the other hand, was impressed with Quigley Down Under because his rifle was a Shiloh Sharps created in Big Timber MT a few miles from our last ranch I grew up on.

anonamom

Not black kids from the inner city who could be learning valuable work ethic lessons.

Not just work ethic--how about the relationships they would build with their employers and their families, and the opportunities that would arise from that?
Especially when they find out their employers' (privileged white) grandparents were dirt poor, came over on a ship, couldn't speak the language, and somehow made the most of the opportunities they found here and pushed their kids through school, and now have grandchildren who own businesses and are are lawyers and doctors and accountants and such?
Because that is the story they'd be hearing from a whole lot of us.

Jane,

My friend Jan (now on a trip to Europe to visit her son who works in the UK) wants to know why it is that NO ONE comments on her outfit?

It drives us crazy. In her opinion, if you have that little imagination in wardrobe, how can you possibly have the mental skill to run the country?

Buckeye

Yesterday Mrs. Buckeye read me a historical account of settlers into a particular county in Ohio that included several of her family.

This was right after the Northwest Territory was opened up, late 1700s.

The measure of a man it appears was how much game they had killed, and we aren't talking squirrels and rabbits.

So and so "killed 96 Bears, 42 Panthers, and 207 Deer". Also, "17 Indians".

It was the Wild West of the day.

The lack of reporting on the Patrick Byrne revelations is breathtaking, regardless of if it's true or not. A bombshell accusation from a respected citizen like Patrick Byrne, a CEO of a large company should be front page news. Just look at the media reaction to the liar Cohen.

Navarro basically
-- tells the Fed that its focus is too narrow, -- tells the Stock Market that China news is a smaller impact on the economy than the media play,
-- that the issues of China negotiations are serious,
-- that any rumors that are leaked by the MSM did not come from the small five man crew that is negotiating,
-- that the bullish economy stands to benefit from its broad base and potential results -- like Brexit, and finally
-- that recession is not a prospect.

There was a reason Jobs wore a black turtleneck and jeans every day--time efficient, and decreases decision making, saving brain energy for other matters.

I am guessing that you didn't wear a uniform to school, and have to iron your blouses. I wore clean undergarments and socks every day, but the rest of it---I did alternate my two or three blouses, and launder them at the end of the week.
But that wool skirt--I had one, like just about every other girl, and washed it in Woolite during my Christmas break. Was it filthy! I usually had to wash it three times before the rinse water was clear.

Momto2-

to succinctly answer your question from yesterday everything I read coupled to the deceit and omissions I can document indictates that the religious affiliated schools like a baylor or catholic u as well as hillsdale or grove city are all ultimately on board with this transformation. http://www.oecd.org/education/2030-project/teaching-and-learning/learning/faq/

That is a new site but I accurately saw these elements as I wrote CtD, which is why I can recognize when someone writing for a think tank or a prof is not correctly telling the story.

I deal with david koch's phialnthropies and vision alot and he definitely envisioned a cybernetically organized society and recognized how to profit from it. He knew what it meant to use public policy to create human systems and how the process theory of the law really worked. That requires controlling institutions and policies that can be pitched as conservative but actually operate in a collectivist manner.

Relates somewhat to my discussion with mom.

Anonamom, the Dem rep who talked about illegals mowing his lawn doesn't WANT poor inner city kids hearing that kind of story.

That kind of story might give them ideas, and put them on a path to being a productive, self-sufficient citizen who then in turn creates his own business, builds his own wealth and passes those same stories on.

Those kind of people don't vote for people like Rep Tom Malinowski, D-NJ.

I am with A-bob re Byrne or whomever. I have zero interest in reading yet another shocking expose about bad things done by the previous coup-gang. We know, and have known, since Trump was sworn in pretty much everything we needed to know. OK, take a few months to nail the facts down but beyond that, failure to prosecute and publicly humiliate such flagrant, and dangerous, enemies of the Constitutional Republic has long passed "these things take time" and leaves me, at least, with a sense that nothing is/will happen to those people by design. Why, I have no clue but am left with only unhealthy speculation.

I am watching the stuff that is being looked at like that thread I posted early this morning, about whether or not the military could take over Twitter, Facebook, and Google if they were collaborating with enemies of the United States.

This whole thing is far bigger than simply getting the Clintons and McCabe.

Now that we see that about 60% of the population doesn't believe the MSM and thinks they are out to get Trump, I think more stuff is going to start to come out.

You have to be able to build a case and not panic people who don't usually pay attention to this stuff. Even my daughter is starting to look askance at a lot of the dems, and she's still a liberal.

Powell is probably the most tone deaf Fed Chair we've had in some time. His reliance on the old models and his inability to be insightful on how the economic factors are changing is frightening.

Nobody wants a Chair who knew jerks to any situation. But there is enough information on inflation, trade and consumer spending to know we're not in a traditional time. We need someone who can read those changes and make much better judgments.

He's also completely wrong on trade. People better get used to the fact the old days of China steamrolling everyone are over. No matter what deal we finally settle on it won't be the one sided pounding of American workers and markets. At least not until a Democrat gets elected.

Our Country has lost, stupidly, Trillions of Dollars with China over many years. They have stolen our Intellectual Property at a rate of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year, & they want to continue. I won’t let that happen! We don’t need China and, frankly, would be far....

....better off without them. The vast amounts of money made and stolen by China from the United States, year after year, for decades, will and must STOP. Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing..

....your companies HOME and making your products in the USA. I will be responding to China’s Tariffs this afternoon. This is a GREAT opportunity for the United States. Also, I am ordering all carriers, including Fed Ex, Amazon, UPS and the Post Office, to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE,....

....all deliveries of Fentanyl from China (or anywhere else!). Fentanyl kills 100,000 Americans a year. President Xi said this would stop - it didn’t. Our Economy, because of our gains in the last 2 1/2 years, is MUCH larger than that of China. We will keep it that way!
