I bet Whoopie remembers the Black Plague. Dean Cain, Kevin Sorbo et al need to spin off Hollywood.

Well, it’s not over yet. Nats are rallying again, rich.

2 runs in so far in the bottom of the 9th.

10-6 Mets, but bases loaded and only one out...

I've heard of this hack where thieves can break into a car that has a wireless key fob. But this gives a nice explanation if you haven't checked into it before.
This has been affecting my neighborhood if NextDoor posts are to be believed.
Keep your car in the garage ... or keys in a metal box or at least far from your front door.

Trigger alert, 2 minute rant against poor designs at the beginning.

The End of Sparta: A Novel by Victor Davis Hanson.

A brutal, brilliant book. Through it’s well documented fiction and Hanson’s breadth of knowledge, I have learned more of ancient Greek history, thought, and culture than I ever could have in my history courses.

And I am better for it. Better able to defend against the intrusions of today’s fakers.

If there's 65,000 people on those two islands and a giant hurricane sat on them for 24 hours and swamped 70% of the bigger island, isn't it likely there are a whole lot of dead people? I hope not, but if not it is a miracle.

For the record, if rich is still up, it was catcher Kurt Suzuki with the game winning homer.

And now your intrepid JOM special sports correspondent is signing off for the evening.

The Infamous Ignatz

Well, in CA to buy ammo you now have to go through a background check. As an FFL I have to get a seller's permit to buy it without the background check. So my go to was Walmart which sells it cheaper than I can get it wholesale with shipping anyway. Now they're bailing like little pansies.
Looks like I'll go back to reloading.

That Hubert crash was ugly. Very Zanardi-like, only the collision happened at the cockpit area. Haven’t read word one about the nature of his injuries.

The driver who hit him, Correa, broke both legs and has some sort of spinal injury. Spare a thought for him, since there wasn’t much he could do to avoid it.

I saw the Trump meme on his incoherent trade policy early last night and ignored. Too many "experts" tied to State, Obama and useless think tanks.

Pinandpuller

Mr Iggy or anonamom

Would you care to address the issue of how me and a White Tail buck can both dress out at 185 but a 5.56 bullet is deadlier for me?

He’s got to be a Marine:

@MIUWdeyo989

The other argument I hear from the small dick I was to pussy to serve but I can buy one and look the part is, "I use it for hunting". BS, without getting into a ballistic argument the 223/5.56 round is not a legit hunting round. Its design is for max damage to the human body

Another Bob

Don’t think it’s a matter of deadlier, but rather of being humane. For moral (and practical) reasons, you want that animal put down dead quickly. In warfare, the idea is to incapacitate, in order to soak up more enemy resources taking that incapacitated fighter off the field.

Pinandpuller

If there's 65,000 people on those two islands and a giant hurricane sat on them for 24 hours and swamped 70% of the bigger island, isn't it likely there are a whole lot of dead people? I hope not, but if not it is a miracle.

Posted by: The Infamous Ignatz | September 03, 2019 at 10:29 PM

And the islands didn’t flip over like Hank Johnson’s air mattress.

Pinandpuller

Another likely marine in that thread said there are “swirls” in a gun barrel that can make a bullet go in your shoulder and come out your foot. I kid you not.

Another Bob

But rifles on battlefields are becoming passé. As are battlefields.

Another Bob

“swirls”

Behold the expertise found on the internets...

The Infamous Ignatz

Actually Pin the 223 is not legal to take deer sized game in some states.
For anything smaller than that is is an excellent round.
But as to the "marine's" take; if it is designed for max damage to the human body then it should be the last round banned, since the 2nd amendment is there so we can inflict maximum damage to the human bodies of people, public or private who wish to deny us our rights or otherwise harm us.

Pinandpuller

The EDC bullets in my USP are banned by the Geneva Convention. I do actually have HP and soft nose rounds for my AR and Mosin though.

Some other former gay infantry genius said 5.56 can tear through your organs in seconds. SECONDS.

Another Bob

HP = hollow point? Aren’t they Geneva-banned?

Pinandpuller

So you’ve got Tariq Nasheed blaming Chicago gun crime on White guys in Blackface and you’ve got Lori Lightfoot blaming Indiana. Which is White guys in Whiteface.

If White Supremacy is really a thing then why do they need to wear Blackface? Why did they use the 101 to integrate Little Rock instead of round up all of the darkies?

Another Bob

I have the same bullets the cops have. Are they evil too?

The Infamous Ignatz

On the chance one or two of the three people on the planet who don't know are reading this, the rifling in a barrel is to do the opposite of what that clown said. They cause the bullet to spin at 200,000+ rpm in flight to stabilize it.
There is a claim that the 5.56 was designed to tumble on impact but that's a myth.
Since military ammo is FMJ it is more likely to pass through a body without tumbling unless it hits bone.

The Infamous Ignatz

Expanding bullets of pretty much any kind were banned in warfare by the Hague convention, not the Geneva ones.

The Infamous Ignatz

I've never quite understood the proscription of expanding rifle bullets.
It's legal to lob a mortar on a guy, drive over him with a tank, set him on fire with a flamethrower, launch a missile at him, plunk a 155mm howitzer round on his head, shoot him with an RPG or drop a nuclear bomb on him.
But shooting him with a bullet with the diameter of less than a quarter of an inch that expands to a half inch is a war crime.

Pinandpuller

If Dr Phil can’t keep his wife happy then what hope do any of us have?

Pinandpuller

I don’t follow any of those Gay European conventions.

The Infamous Ignatz

Would you be happy if Dr Phil kept crawling into your bed buck-tooth nekkid?

I like this idea. In the distant psst the Army defended our coasts and ports with fixed fortifications.

They no longer have that mission, but in a China Sea battle mobile anti-ship weapons would be very useful. Strap them on the deck of marine assault ships or off-load them onto captured islands.

The Army could use them in the Baltic or Black Seas.

Pin, did you coin a new word or was that meant to be "post-humanist?"

New rule, if you need an "emotional support" animal to fly in an airplane, maybe you shouldn't be flying. I think airlines need to enforce strict "animal control" rules.

We need strict "animal control" laws.

Obviously, if you are not "stable" you should not be able to possess a gun or an animal.

And isn't pet ownership a type of "slavery" if you need them to survive. They are not "pets", but indentured servants.

No offense to pet owners who treat their pets like part of the family and love them just because...

Austin Bay asked some questions of Michael Yon. The result is this article.

I agree with the premise. They don't talk about the extradition bill.

The protests have escalated and gotten more radical, because the people of Hong Kong have decided that this is a systemic assault on their freedoms.

There is absolutely no reason to acquiesce now because they know the next blow is still on the horizon.

Pure and simple, it's a fight for freedom.

That is something that will resonate in many countries. And I think some of the Hong Kong people are willing to die.

Better to die free than to live as a slave.

Still have power, water, Wi-Fi and wine. What more could you ask for?

Beagles fed and have to use upper terrace for outside activities else be blown around like rag dolls. So far no damage, no water seepage. The eye is just on our latitude but well out to sea. We are getting extensive outer bands of wind at 35mph, gusts up to 50mph.

The best we can tell in the early light is the sea is a giant body of white. I don’t think the storm surge is more than 5’.
