The impeachment polling is shaping up as more trench warfare in 50/50 nation.
I promise you, there are people out there thinking that (to snatch a few recent examples from the headlines) the idea of hosting the G-& at Trump's Doral resort was an optically dubious decision and the Ukraine arm-twisting is not how a President should exert his power. But they're also thinking that the Warren/Sanders intended fracking ban would be a disaster.
We're on track for another sequel: Lesser of Two Evils II.
Because I have work to do, and because I remember the monotonous arguments that consumed JOM in past months, I am stepping away for a couple of hours. I will be back before the speech in Pennsylvania.
However, I am treating Maryrose much like President Trump is treating Turkey. A cease-fire, but if something happens I don't like, just like President Trump, I WILL punch back.

“It is time for us to get out of these ridiculous endless wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home. We will fight where it is to our benefit, and only fight to win.” 55% of Democratic Likely Voters agree. We did not name the quote source.

How about Greg Abbott for 2024? When he was Texas AG he was asked what his job entails, Abbott says: "I go into the office in the morning, I sue Barack Obama, and then I go home." Also if you criticize him we can call you a bigot against the disabled. That would be a lot of fun.

They can’t get (Pence) on any of the imaginary charges they are trying to undermine Trump with during his presidency.
Pence was a strong enough figure to be chosen as VP.
He is squeaky clean.
Seriously?
You said it yourself - the charges they're pushing against President Trump are imaginary. Why on Earth wouldn't the Democrats do the same thing to Pence - or any other Republican?
Especially since, to date, they've managed to bog the President down for going on three years with no consequences, and they've got the media cooperating 110% with them on it.
OF COURSE they'd go after Pence with imaginary charges, regardless of how squeaky clean he is.

It's my belief that Donald Trump and only Donald Trump can drain the swamp. I don't believe any other candidate would have exposed the depths these treacherous bastards would go to and I'm starting to think there's some Divine intervention going on here.
Prayers for his safety and matt's continued success.

I remember when Pence was in Congress he was considered a warrior. I hoped like hell that he would run for president someday. I think his tenure as governor shook him up (saw all the underlying ugliness?) and undermined his faith in our political systems, and that was why he seemed timid.
People who weather those setbacks usually come out stronger and capable of maintaining the fight. I'd say that he'll be ripe to continue the battle, if heaven forbid, it comes to that.

I am far more concerned about an assassination attempt than anything else at this point. I trust that the developer in Trump has a plan for every possibility, including this, and I sure hope that we never need to know what it is.
I will say that hiring Mulvaney as COS was a brilliant move.

I have stated on many occasions that Romney is wrong not to support the President.
I have defended RYAN to the point that he alone is not responsible for the House flipping.
Each congressman is responsible for his own seat.
Ryan has been gone,yet he is still a favorite whipping boy here on this blog.
He got the Tax cuts through but that was not enough for folks here.
He left and now McCarthy has the spot.
Further discussion of him is beating a dead horse in my opinion.

If the Twitter Sleuths connecting the dots are correct in their assertion that Eric Ciaramella is Schiff's whistleblower, then it raises some interesting possibilities.
Was Ciaramella a Deep State mole with allegiance to John Brennan who was planted in the Trump administration to spy on Trump?
Did Team Trump know Ciaramella was a Deep State spy and intentionally fed him misinformation knowing he would divulge everything to the Democrats?

http://www.kiplingsociety.co.uk/poems_gravehundred.htm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's a widow in sleepy Chester
Who weeps for her only son;
There's a grave on the Pabeng River,
A grave that the Burmans shun;
And there's Subadar Prag Tewarri
Who tells how the work was done.
A Snider squibbed in the jungle,
Somebody laughed and fled,
And the men of the First Shikaris
Picked up their Subaltern dead,
With a big blue mark in his forehead
And the back blown out of his head.
Subadar Prag Tewarri,
Jemadar Hira Lal,
Took command of the party,
Twenty rifles in all,
Marched them down to the river
As the day was beginning to fall.
They buried the boy by the river,
A blanket over his face—
They wept for their dead Lieutenant,
The men of an alien race—
They made a samadh in his honor,
A mark for his resting-place.
For they swore by the Holy Water,
They swore by the salt they ate,
That the soul of Lieutenant Eshmitt Sahib
Should go to his God in state,
With fifty file of Burmans
To open him Heaven's gate.
The men of the First Shikaris
Marched till the break of day,
Till they came to the rebel village,
The village of Pabengmay—
A jingal covered the clearing,
Calthrops hampered the way.
Subadar Prag Tewarri,
Bidding them load with ball,
Halted a dozen rifles
Under the village wall;
Sent out a flanking-party
With Jemadar Hira Lal.
The men of the First Shikaris
Shouted and smote and slew,
Turning the grinning jingal
On to the howling crew.
The Jemadar's flanking-party
Butchered the folk who flew.
Long was the morn of slaughter,
Long was the list of slain,
Five score heads were taken,
Five score heads and twain;
And the men of the First Shikaris
Went back to their grave again,
Each man bearing a basket
Red as his palms that day,
Red as the blazing village -
The village of Pabengmay,
And the "drip-drip-drip" from the baskets
Reddened the grass by the way.
They made a pile of their trophies
High as a tall man's chin,
Head upon head distorted,
Set in a sightless grin,
Anger and pain and terror
Stamped on the smoke-scorched skin.
Subadar Prag Tewarri
Put the head of the Boh
On the top of the mound of triumph,
The head of his son below—
With the sword and the peacock-banner
That the world might behold and know.
Thus the samadh was perfect,
Thus was the lesson plain
Of the wrath of the First Shikaris -
The price of a white man slain;
And the men of the First Shikaris
Went back into camp again.
Then a silence came to the river,
A hush fell over the shore,
And Bohs that were brave departed,
And Sniders squibbed no more;
For the Burmans said
That a white man's head
Must be paid for with heads five-score.
There's a widow in sleepy Chester
Who weeps for her only son;
There's a grave on the Pabeng River,
A grave that the Burmans shun;
And there's Subadar Prag Tewarri
Who tells how the work was done.
Well, Pompeo may be the overall smartest guy in DC now that Bobby Inman and Poindexter are long gone. Mike finished first in his class at West Point before it subcumbed to PC or “diversity”. If we go by “executive” experience in Government he has a complete resume.
Make Jordan his VP. Having 2 ex Army guys may turn off some indies.
BTW, to finish first at West Point means that from kindergarten on you were always 2 or 3 grades ahead of everyone else. There is just not enough time for studies at WP to get those results.
Your first sentence is likely 99.99% correct.
SCIFs are used to secure information classified Top Secret. Anything classified Top Secret by default means divulging the information would be a grave threat to national security.
If that were the case Schiff's leaking of testimony conducted inside the SCIF would have to be classified as a felony since he is leaking Top Secret information to the media.
The PR stunt the GOP pulled today was to bring scrutiny to the absurdity of Schiff using the SCIF for his sham meetings.
And the AEI piece seems plausible to me, though it's hard to know much of anything about China with great certainty, and it's not my area of expertise. I've heard there's a fair amount of Potemkin village real estate there, just empty buildings.
It would be really great if the people within the Trump Administration, all well-meaning and good (I hope!), could stop hiring Never Trumpers, who are worse than the Do Nothing Democrats. Nothing good will ever come from them!
JiB-
I'll throw a different slant on it. Knowing what we do about Team Schiff and their predilection for altering slightly the definition of words to suit the situation, I bet they're meeting in a room they're calling a SCIF when it isn't.
-I'm saying this because of numerous "reports" that GOP members were being warned they had working electronic devices in a SCIF by Capitol police, who probably wouldn't be the enforcers of SCIF violations, since they work directly for the Speaker. Hiring the ex-Chicago Police Dept head by Hastert way back when was a pretty good tip off that he wasn't entirely on the up and up.
Just my two, because these mopes will lie about anything. Might even be a PostIt note on the door that says "Kawtion! SCIF!!11!"
Joe Biden just claimed that he came to Sandy Hook after the shooting and met with every family who lost someone.
It was actually Obama who did that, NOT Joe Biden.
Biden also thought he was VP when Parkland happened.
@JoeBiden
is either a liar or he’s losing his mind.
