This should be interesting as the strategy on all sides will have to adapt to the the Kurd-Syrian alliance.

Will Turkey take a step back or not? The most obvious change to me is that the Kurds now have an air force.

I expect this will be interesting. I don't know if it will be hard hitting or watered down.

Ultimately what Durham does will be more important. The IG can only inform us and make criminal referrals.

If Durham has paralleled the IG and releases indictments on the heels of the IG report that will enhance the effect of the report.

The IG has a lot of power, but a prosecutor has even more.

Dems cheating at debates? shocking!

jim nj

peter,

My default position is that Democrats cheat whenever they can, but I was thinking more about the bias in media.

If the Veritas video on CNN is to be believed then CNN is obsessive-compulsive about taking down Trump.

If so, I have to wonder if CNN and other media aren't putting their fingers on the scales in the debates and day-to-day news coverage. IOW, do they have a favorite?

I saw last night that gma plans to start the rehab of the hunter bidet reputation today. Wonder if he did a stint in rehab to get ready to be interviewed?

I suspect the documentable omissions will be rampant.

jim nj

You know I guess I should be very upset. I would have liked to have supported the Kurds better, but over the years we did. In the end we had insufficient forces in place to do anything more for them. Surging more US forces into the arena in the face of Erdogan's attack wasn't realistic or feasible.

The Kurds cut a deal with Syria that might have happened sooner. Because of US support, as far as I know, they didn't open talks earlier. Or those talks failed.

So they have done a deal now, and we don't know what the end-result will be, but the Kurds were never strong enough to impose an independent state in Syria.

Syria and the Kurds will have to work toward some type of shared governance.

If you want to think of it in the basest means, yes we used the Kurds to get rid of ISIS, which was to their benefit as well as ours, then the Kurds used the US to cut the best possible deal with Syria. With our backing they over-played their hand. They held out for more than Syria was willing to give.

Isn't it a little unusual how quickly the Kurds and Syrians came to a meeting of the minds with the US withdrawing?

So as much as I would have liked to do more for the Kurds, all of the anger that we didn't is misplaced. We did what we could and the Turks are to blame for all of this.

That artillery attack by the Turks on US forces was an "accident." Or was it a "message" that we needed to leave or get caught up in the carnage?

Rather than being upset at being "out-played" by the Turks on the battlefield, I'm quite content to go the sanctions route against Turkey.

It will have more effect that any military contest. I am infinitely tired of Erdogan and think the best way to weaken him is economically.

So I'm not really upset at this whole thing, but I think the next step is to bring Turkey to its knees with economic sanctions.

And while many politicians, on both sides of the aisle, are criticizing Trump about the Kurds, they do seem to be united in imposing sanctions on Turkey.

That's the way to go for now.

Buckeye

I'm sure he did. But he probably didn't need to bother. It's not like the MSM is interested in anything that might make a Democrat look bad, regardless of how blatantly awful that Democrat is, on every possible level.

James D.

LeBron James on Houston Rockets' GM Daryl Morey advocating for freedom for Hong Kong: "I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand and he spoke ... Even though, yes, we do have freedom of speech there can be a lot of negative that comes with that"

I've never liked him, and always thought he was a classless jerk.

But now we can say without question that he's a complete soulless shitbag of a sellout who cares for absolutely nothing except his paycheck. Good to have it confirmed.

Buckeye

Showed up in my mailbox this morning:

The month of October is special in that it gives the majority of America spectacular images of the seasons changing. (The exception is Florida…where the humidity leaves and snowbirds return).

It’s also a unique month in the financial markets in that it’s probably the most misunderstood month of the year.

Most investors wrongly associate October with a market crash. They base their reasoning on events that took place in 1929 and 1987 and expect a blood bath every year.

Do the math. In the last 100+ years we’ve had Two Octobers where the market has crashed.

See my point?

This is a result of the ongoing mis-direction put out by the Whores-of-Babble-On media presstitutes who say what their Wall Street overlords tell them to say.

Ironically (or NOT) one of the historical realities of the stock market is that September is typically the worst performing month.

So, what should you expect in October 2019?

I’ll say with confidence that based on all the political madness coming out of DC you’ll start to see things like you’ve never imagined before.

I’m speaking specifically of the stock markets misdirection, false flags and events to take your focus away from what’s quietly undermining the global economy.

Specifically, a Global Liquidity Crisis.

Currently there’s a massive shortage of dollars around the world due to “hoarding” mostly from nations outside the US.

It’s estimated that over 70% of all the dollars in the world are held outside the US.

Think of this as a precursor to a huge rise in the dollar which, consequently, will destroy Emerging markets around the world.

Hopefully I’m wrong, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we have another mass shooting (Glocktober Fest) to keep the public from seeing the oncoming Liquidity Crisis.

Stuffing Benjamins under your mattress is far better than paying the bank to "hold" your Euros for you.

jim nj

I'm actually feeling somewhat serene. Untroubled.

Given the above we played as well as we could.

Adam Schiff is being so one-sided in his quest, even with media backing, that I see it as a fraud. It doesn't matter to me if anyone is buying it.

The IG report coming out, whatever its contents, no longer matters. It will create a new narrative.

So you and I can do nothing for the moment, but it's time to stop worrying and be serene. What will happen will happen.

Hang on for the ride, I think, in most of these matters, we will no longer be on the defensive.

jim nj

Buckeye,

The politicians arguing over the Kurds seem to break into two camps.

Those that truly supported the Kurds as some kind of ideal.

And those who simply oppose anything Trump does.

They can argue as much as they want. It is now a moot issue.

The proper place for their anger should be directed at Turkey.

Turkey, under Erdogan's rule, has been a problem for years, it's time to take him down.

MissMarple2

MM,

I'm glad you noticed the full moon, but it was Sunday that we hit the "Hunter" full moon.

But that fits with my current thinking. What we are "seeing" isn't real.

The push against Trump "abandoning" the Kurds is also "mis-timed." Criticism is fine, but it ignores the realities of what we could do.

Adam Schiff's "super-secret" "double-probation" blitzkrieg is also running out of time. He got the issue and the timing wrong again.

By the end of the week the focus will be on Turkish sanctions not what we could have done for the Kurds. Is Congress really going to order the military back into the field?

Schiff will run out of questionable witnesses to depose and get stuck without a predicate.

And if the IG report drops on Friday, as expected, we have a whole new narrative to explore.

Captain Hate

And if the IG report drops on Friday, as expected, we have a whole new narrative to explore.

Musing:

" Have you no sense of decency, sir?"

That pivotal question was the tipping point for unchained “investigation” — the 1954 witch hunt — by Sen. Joe McCarthy’s subcommittee on investigations into “communists” in government. The crusade was less about communists than about power.

McCarthy, a Democrat turned Republican, called the Army for their reluctance to give special treatment sought by McCarthy and his committee staff for their favored associates. McCarthy charged resistance — obstruction in today’s parlance.

"Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness," Army counsel Joe Welsh declared. "Senator, you've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency? ... if there is a God in heaven, it will do neither you nor your cause any good! I will not discuss it further.”

This time, in closed hearings this week, Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the House intelligence committee, seeks to obscure the special treatment afforded other Democrat politicians. If not graft with a quid pro quo, then the opportunity for it.

As high handed as McCarthy, Schiff has made it impossible for defense attorneys, or even other representatives in Congress or on the committee, to even ask if, at long last, he has no shame.

"We want to make sure," Shiff told CBS' "Face the Nation", "that we meet the needs of the investigation and not give the president or his legal minions the opportunity to tailor their testimony and in some cases fabricate testimony to suit their interests."

He purposely overlooks the hundreds of other Republicans in the House who deserve the opportunity to examine all the testimony. He dismisses procedures that Americans over 200 years have determined critical for the defense of individual liberty against the powers of the state. He opposes the concept that people under investigation deserve all the potentially exculpatory material the U.S. Supreme Court now calls Brady material.

By the end of the month, after the FISA investigation report is released, Americans will likely learn how other Democrats in office likely undermined the Brady rights of Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.

The real crime, however, is how Schiff grouped other Republicans and Democrats as undeserving of understanding the many ways government can be subverted. He doesn’t want them to know how Ukraine or China have played fast and loose with elected officials in years gone by.

He doesn’t want them to see how previous administrations — Democratic ones — undermined and misused agencies for personal political gain.

Schiff and Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have planted the seeds for the collapse of the Democratic Party. They seem to think it worth that risk to continue their hold on power, and continued privileged access to the government trough.

Democrats and Republicans interested in their own political survival had best stand up to Schiff and Pelosi before the walls tumble down around them.

Jack is Back!

In re: IG report delay.

Doesn’t the IG have to all persons, institutions, agencies, et.al. Time to review their part in the report? Could that be the added delay?

Another Bob

Time to face the fact that the comeuppances that have always been #twoweeks away, aren’t coming.

The DOJ IGs will do absolutely nothing but issue more milquetoast “failed to live up to his responsibility” statements about the coup plotters and the FISA abusers.

The DOJ will indict precisely zero of the coup plotters and FISA abusers.

The congress needs to act, but the few house republicans taking an interest are being locked out, and are meekly taking whatever shit Nancy chooses to feed them. And other than judgeships Cocaine Mitch is leaving Trump to twist in the wind.

The courts need to act, but most of the judges are showing themselves to be corrupt swamp.

It’s going downhill fast, and nobody in authority is showing any sign of putting the brakes on. Going to get a lot worse. And “distractions” will be initiated to take everyone’s minds off it, and make it all seem unimportant in comparison. Hell, you have some starting to admit what this is all about, and most seem to be shrugging.

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that it won’t matter who wins the election.

Seriously Henry. Something happened in 2014-15 that caused masks to drop. It’s like someone decided they had enough power to conduct this soft coup and started executing the plan.

It’s inexplicable why Trump continues to go through channels, and not just dump everything he knows on the public.

MissMarple2

Captain Hate,

Sometimes women stay home when their children are small, if they can afford to do so. This gives them fewer years in seniority. That's just one of many, many reasons there is disparity.

Jarrett is acting like the gender gap is a deliberate decision made by corporate heads and men in general. In my opinion, this is a deliberate roll-out of a divisive issue which is based on fiction and aims to create enemies within groups and families.

You cannot convince me that Jarrett has the best interests of American families, or even women, at heart.

Another Bob

Gender pay gap is an old, tired issue. Been explained each of the Avogadro’s number of times it’s been brought up. It’s only a virtue signal anymore. No point in dredging it up again.

MissMarple2

Another Bob,

The public has to be shown, not just told. That's why the rallies are important. You cannot trust the media (as we are being shown this week) and you cannot trust the polls (as the crowds demonstrate).

He knows what he's doing.

James D.

In my opinion, this is a deliberate roll-out of a divisive issue which is based on fiction and aims to create enemies within groups and families.

That’s the Democrat strategy on EVERY issue.

Another Bob

You cannot trust our “justice” system either MM.

So that leaves Trump just telling people.

James D.

You cannot convince me that Jarrett has the best interests of American families, or even women, at heart.

The only people Whose interests Jarret has at heart are herself, and her bosses in the Muslim Brotherhood and in Tehran.

Captain Hate

Sometimes women stay home when their children are small, if they can afford to do so.

We weren't rich but bit the bullet and my wife stayed with the children until they were old enough for school. We did it because we didn't feel comfortable having strangers raise our children. Others feel differently, obviously, but I wouldn't change it in retrospect.

Another Bob

CH, years ago, a friend and his wife ran the numbers. (He was OCD about budgets, and knew where every penny went.) She was a draftsman, which was well above a min wage job.

They concluded that the full costs of childcare (paying the provider, added transportation costs, etc.) would cost more than she made.

Melinda

Thanks, CH, that was informative.

Now do Margin Calls.

Captain Hate

AB, good child care is expensive. My Physical Therapist daughter works part time and has hired a couple nannies, both of which are delightfully active people, to fill the gap. And they ain't cheap!

MissMarple2

Another Bob,

Budgeting is a skill which is undervalued, as we have often seen writ large in Congress.

My daughter mustered her latent math skills and figured that the shorter commute (about 1/3 the distance) and consequent less spent on gas, was worth about $3000 per year alone, which made it advantageous to take this job downtown. That didn't even count the other benefits such as a 401K AND a pension.

People need to be able to game out a budget before they commit to certain jobs or expenditures, like car payments.

Marlene

Good Morning! Well,my mother almost blew up her in-law apartment yesterday. She left the gas stove on. Thank God my sister stopped by to visit and asked what is that smell?! My sister-in-law was home also (the apartment is attached to my brother's house). S-I-L opened the door and windows and cleared the smell. My brother had the propane tank removed,I think he was already concerned about Mom using the stove. In the meantime,my mother-in-law is recovering from nasty cuts on her legs sustained after falling off a freaking step ladder. I hope when I'm almost 90 years old I have better sense. James D.

Budgeting is a skill which is undervalued, as we have often seen writ large in Congress.

It’s a skill that is deliberately not taught anymore. Our “betters” don’t want us to know it for several reasons:

People who can calculate and live on a budget are far less likely to need/demand that government subsidize them. This is bad for bureaucrats and Democrats (and RINOs)

People who live on a budget are less probe to buy crap they don’t need, and to learn to repair their own stuff and look for bargains. This is bad for ad agencies, companies who produce shoddy merchandise with short cycles of planned obsolesce, and the Chamber of Commerce.

People who can calculate and live on a budget for their family, taking into account income, expenses, child care, health care, and retirement, will sooner or later ask why their elected officials cannot do the same, which is bad for all local, state and federal politicians.

Time after time, studies have proven that adjusting for educational levels, experience and time in the field, women in the same job make the same or slightly more than men.
