Gators lose their QB and is their 2nd one. In comes no. 3. Moves it downfield for a FB. Gators 17-Tigers 13. 5+ minutes to half time. Swamp is ruling so far.

Manuel Transmission

While I'm on my big machine, this image presented itself to me last Monday before heading home from a big box run. I was so amazed that when I got fired up and made my call to Ground, I asked if anyone could give me a cellphone # to send it to. Long pause... You see, usually the ground guys give YOU a number when you screw something up and need a scolding. Anyway, they gave me one and I sent it when I got home. I'll bet there are a lot of printouts of it in the tower.

Jack is Back!

Trask is back with a brace on his leg. But not in the huddle. Going to half time with a run tactic.

A mostly arm-waving analysis of Trump vs Warren in '20.
Trump prevails easily.
https://youtu.be/Gyvg5l6NYvY

GUS

JimNorCal, that analysis SHOULD BE self evident.
The FULL COMMIE ASSAULT, including my screed vis a vis RODHAM and her $10 MILLION DOLLAR RUSSIAN attack on TRUMP, has changed the ENTIRE dynamic of POLITICS. The FULL COMMIE, is ALL IN on REVOLUTION. Not for any SOCIAL nor POLITICAL purpose, RATHER...for FULL COMMIE CONTROL....now or NEVER. What has gone on, since RODHAM tried to SLANDER and SLIME DJT, and ever MORE SO, what the FBI, DOJ, NSA, CIA, OBAMA, BRENNAN, CLAPPER, COMEY, McCABE, STRZOK, PAGE, OHR, SUSAN RICE, SAMANTHA POWER, etc etc etc etc HAVE DONE, has FOREVER CHANGED what TRUTH is.
THE MEDIA is an EQUAL PARTNER in this COUP.
TRUMP is under ASSAULT for drinking DIET COKE.
The COUP and all INVOLVED are NOT under ASSAULT.

Jack is Back!

Jim,

Interesting he didn't start with Texas:) The Beto effect is still in the vacant minds of people who think they are pundits.

clarice

By Eric Trump....
I am keenly aware of how fortunate I was to be born the son of one of the wealthiest and most well known businessmen in America. I am also the first to admit that things are different when you grow up as a Trump.
Anyone who has paid attention to the news, especially since my father announced his run for the White House, knows the media has attacked every member of my family viciously and given us anything but kind treatment. The adult “children” in our family are certainly not off limits. We did after all fight alongside our father in his quest to win the presidency. We stood on that stage and campaigned across the nation, and are certainly willing to take the punches where they are warranted and deserved. The double standard, however, is nothing short of glaring.
It would be a waste of print to recount every smear, hit piece, and invasion of privacy my family has faced. But allow me to sum it up by highlighting an article published by Forbes and reposted in virtually every major news outlet, attacking a charity that I started when I was 20 years old. In less than 10 years, I raised more than $20 million for terminally ill children at Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I maintained just over a 9 percent cumulative expense ratio, one of the lowest expense ratios of any charity in the nation, and funded the construction of one of the most cutting edge intensive care units and surgery centers dedicated to children.
The Eric Trump Foundation intensive care unit treats some of the sickest children in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and it gives their parents and families hope. Yet I was viciously chastised by the Democrats and the media who relentlessly tried to manufacture stories about me, my mission, and my intentions with the charity. At the same time, the Clinton Foundation controversy was in full swing, and the media knew that it could use me as their punching bag to distract from one of their own.
One might say it comes with the territory, and that is absolutely true. As a Trump, I am held to an incredibly high public standard and I have lived an exceptionally clean and honest life with that in mind. But can you imagine, if they were willing to try and destroy a “kid” who dedicated his life to pediatric cancer and philanthropy, what the media would say if I had secured a $50,000 a month job on the board of a Ukrainian company, with no discernable duties, in an industry I knew nothing about, in a country where I did not even speak the language? What if my father on live camera threatened to cut off military aid to that country unless the prosecutor investigating that company for corruption was fired?
To make the hypothetical picture sufficiently vivid, also imagine that I had previously been kicked out of the United States Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine or was given a contract potentially worth $1.5 billion by China weeks after traveling to Beijing with my father aboard Air Force Two. I worked hard to raise millions of dollars for dying children, yet crickets from the media and weekly parodies on Saturday Night Live.
For the record, I do not know exactly what Hunter Biden did or did not do in Ukraine, in China, in his personal life, or elsewhere. There are plenty of other controversies that measure below the dignity and character of this article to regurgitate. I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt, since that courtesy is so seldom bestowed upon me and my family.
One thing, however, is absolutely certain. If the situation were reversed, I would have been front page news in every newspaper, online publication, and cable news outlet for the rest of my life. Reporters would be camping outside of my door, my family would have been picked apart, my name would have been smeared in the news every single week, and my father arguably would not even be president of the United States today.
I do not always agree with Bill Maher, but the late night host was honest enough to admit that if my brother or I had done what Hunter Biden did, “it would be all Rachel Maddow was talking about.” I do not know what he learned while growing up as a Biden, but if what we know about his life indicates anything, it is that there are different rules if you are the son of a powerful Democratic politician. Money grows on trees, there are no rules, and the press will always cover for you if it benefits the political left.
To quote the great Marcus Aurelius from The Gladiator, “Your faults as a son are my failures as a father.” I owe all of my work ethic, character, integrity, and moral fiber to my father. Hunter Biden can say the same.

Its all about Ireland. Boris has to go hard on the backstop. Forget Ireland. Hell they have an hindu Indian as their Taoscietch.

Eric Trump takes off the gloves. Good for him but all it will do is embolden the press even more.

JimNorCal. I do not know WHY the POWER STRUCTURE of the UK, has IGNORED the WILL of the PEOPLE for 3 and a half years. I have my thoughts and opinions, however, THIS CRAP, does not bode well for FREE PEOPLES and REPUBLICS.
As you probably know, I am the SON of a BRITISH MOTHER. I guess that makes me half-British.
I AM 100% AMERICAN. I love Britain very very much, but I am sickened, by the dishonest level of politics, that has allowed this TRAVESTY to CONTINUE.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN. TRUMP WON. Errrrrr, I mean THE PEOPLE of BRITAIN, have voted to LEAVE, the EU. What does it take for FULL COMMIES to adhere to the PEOPLE????

I think we all know THAT answer.

It's interesting to me, Jim, that all the new migration from Blue states to Texas doesn't change their voting patterns even though they are leaving high tax, over regulated states. They think it will be different this time when they vote Blue.

Low IQ voters, IMHO.

JimNorCal, was there ever a report about CHI-FI-DI, and her CHINESE staff member for many years???
Much like the PAKISTANI'S who worked for WASHERWOMAN-SCHLITZ, it's all gone into the ALL-GONE-MACHINE.
There are NO REPORTS on ADAM SCHITT and his leaks to the MFM, during the RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA closed door hearings, where he left to take a "POTTY" break, and the MFM learned of closed door stuff.

Captain Hate

I don't recall Mutt Rombley getting a twist in his magic underwear over CHI-DI-FI. With even Rove joining the chorus attacking the donks, that chiclet Cheshire grin is looking isolated except on the Sea Cuck.

Codevilla with a short piece on the deteriorating US educational system.
He misspells "World" though LOL
https://amgreatness.com/2019/10/04/dysfunctional-education/
"During Word War II, only 4 percent of some 18 million draftees were illiterate. Despite (or because?) of massive expenditures on education over the subsequent two decades, 27 percent of the Vietnam war’s draftees were judged functionally illiterate. Between 1955 and 1991, the inflation-adjusted average K-12 per-pupil expenditure in America rose 350 percent. In 1972, 2,817 students scored 750 or better on each half of the SAT. By 1994, only 1,438 made this score though the test had been made easier. Today, U.S. 15 year olds rank 24th out of 71 countries in science, and 38th in math. In 2018, college students spent less than a third of the time their grandparents did studying for their classes."

GUS

JimNorCal, Trump was never a WASHINGTON insider.
No one is, unless they have KEYS to the D.C. Executive "wash room". Trump has been a heavy hitter, who has had to kiss D.C. ass, despite his own better instincts. Romney has not been a D.C.insider either. Romney has been an opportunist who, does not have any loyalty to anything or anyone, except cash and his own self promoting.
Did Mutt Rumbley, fight for CONSERVATISM??

CASE CLOSED.

JM Hanes

D:

"You have to admit almost no criticism is allowed at any time wrt PresidentTrump."

What, there's a JOM rulebook somewhere? I think it would be more accurate to say that if you criticize the President, someone is likely to disagree with you. Just as you don't "allow" any criticism of Romney to go unchallenged.

As for your advice to President, perhaps you should Google "Trump meeting with Senators." You'll find plenty of entries, interspersed with regular Republican sniping at the Prez. I note that rather than criticizing Romney & the Senate for their lack of support for the President and his agenda, you essentially criticize Trump for not somehow persuading them do their own damn jobs. He's already fighting the Dems, the NeverTrumpers and the Press, almost single-handedly. If getting the do-nothing Republicans in Congress to back their own party's President requires serious sucking up from the White House, I'd say Trump's language should be the least of our worries.

Yet, which countries universtity system is the first choice of all the kids from countries 1-27? It is a demographic issue thata those other countries don't have.

Someone should ask Mitt to state what he thinks are conservative policies and principles and on which of those he differs from the president. JimNorCal, the U.S. educational system, has been subverted in many ways. First, the FEDERAL GOVT, has no place, in EDUCATION, Constitutionally. But far beyond that, those of US, who send our CHILDREN to SCHOOLS that we believe in, are still subject to the SOCIAL PRESSURES that overwhelm society.
The EXTREME pressures and influence of the RANCID MFM, infiltrate even the most independent and traditionally religious and conservative schools.
SOCIAL JUSTICE must be adhered to. Without regard to it's definition or any discussion thereof.
CLIMATE CHANGE/GLOBAL WARMING, must be addressed and AGAIN....ADHERED to, without REGARD as to WHAT THAT MEANS. It's absurd, and it's out of control FULL COMMIE planned politics.

My Congressman on releasing the Volker Testimony transcript.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw took the Democrats to task on Friday morning, tweeting, “One key fact about yesterday’s closed-door witness interview? Republicans are the ones calling for public release of the deposition transcript. That should tell you something. Democrats prefer narratives, not facts.”

Jim,SunnyvaleCA,USA

JiB, to be fair to Codevilla a lot of the rot is at lower levels than university as the snip I posted about literacy shows.

matt - deplore me if you must

Baghdad was, in the 8th and 9th centuries considered one of the most learned cities in the world. Its library was famous and scholars from all over the Middle East congregated there. It was also at the center of the trade routes, which in itself was major boon to learning.

The House of Wisdom translated many of the Greek and Latin texts that later were re-exported to the West. In fact one of the key factors in the decline of Greek & Roman knowledge was the loss of Greek language skills after the fall of the Roman Empire. Many of the Roman scholars wrote in Greek rather than Latin. I guess Greek was the Latin of its day.

The other contributing factor was the fall of the Byzantine Empire, when a large body of original Greek work in math and philosophy migrated west.

Grenada was also a center of learning as was Cordoba. The Renaissance was a unique explosion in knowledge and understanding, but without the original Greek work, the path would have been much harder. Aquinas himself called Avveroes "The Interpreter".

Like in most things, there is synthesis and cross pollination.

As to the fundamental superiority of Western Culture it is self evident and sui generis.

Jack is Back!

Jim,

True. How many Rhodes scholars go to Oxbridge for science or engineering post-grad degrees? Not many if even any.

Wow ManTran!

And your analysis was spot on.

James D.

Codevilla with a short piece on the deteriorating US educational system. ~/I>

It’s not “deteriorating”. It has been deliberately wrecked. The pathetic education that most of our kids today receive is entirely on purpose.

To the extent that any of them escape from K-12 with brains not totally ruined, it’s to the credit of their families and to the few recent, sane teachers (examples of which we see on this site) who have not been either coopted or driven out by the prog mind arsonists.

James D.

Just a little something on Islam today vs. the west.

"Today the spirit of science in the Muslim world is as dry as the desert … Forty-six Muslim countries combined contribute just 1 per cent of the world’s scientific literature; Spain and India each contribute more of the world’s scientific literature than those countries taken together … Nobel Laureate Steven Weinberg has observed “for forty years I have not seen a single paper by a physicist or astronomer working in a Muslim country that was worth reading” …

A study in 1989 found that in one year the United States published 10,481 scientific papers that were frequently cited, while the entire Arab world published only four. This may sound like the punch line of a bad joke, but when Nature magazine published a sketch of science in the Arab world in 2002, its reporter identified just three scientific areas in which the Islamic world excelled: desalination, falconry, and camel reproduction."

Yeah it was interesting to note in reading up on Al Farabi that he spent most of his life in Baghdad with Christian scholars.
Islam was ok so long as they piggy backed on others ideas and remained open to them. As soon as they closed their culture to the influence of ones not under the sway of allah they stagnated and devolved.

Remember this?

Can you name the animals?

While I would agree that there are invitations to natural theology in the Qur'an, there are also several less inviting things. For instance, in the Qur'an's account of creation, there appears an interesting detail. In Genesis, God parades the animals in front of Adam, who then names them, and these names are what they are. In the Qur'an, it is Allah who names the animals, not man. Man does not have this power to name.

This is symptomatic of the difference between the two views of man in Genesis and the Qur'an. The power to name is, in a way, the power to know. Joseph Pieper once wrote, "Reality becomes intelligible through words. Man speaks so that through naming things what is real may become intelligible." If you cannot name a thing, can you know it? Can reality be intelligible to you without this power?

Actually, the situation in the Qur'an is even worse. The angels complain to Allah in Surah 2 about his having created Adam. Allah then challenges them to name these very same animals. The angels cannot do it, and respond: "Oh, Allah, You who know all things, You know we do not know; we know only what You have taught us."

Not even pure spirits have within their reason the ability to apprehend reality independent of what God himself directly places in their minds. This seemingly little detail foreshadows what later develops within Islam: the epistemological inability to grasp reality and to know only that which God himself has revealed. Islam thus loses rational access to reality through a deformed theology, which in turn has produced a dysfunctional culture.

Trump may be able to "convict" Biden in the court of public opinion (though given the cover of the MSM, even that is doubtful).

But, there is no way in hell any jury will ever convict Biden or his son of anything. There is enough plausible deniability, enough reasonable doubt of "quid pro quo" that what they were doing was anything illegal -- courtroom "justice" just ain't going to happen.

And, Trump has essentially acknowledged the Justice Department is not even looking into the Bidens.

So, let's let go of this particular "perp walk" fantasy.

Manuel Transmission

Mike: If you cannot name a thing, can you know it? Can reality be intelligible to you without this power?

I’ve had a problem with the flip side of this. I’ve seen way too much science where there is a shortcut leap to assign a name to a ‘thing’ and then smugly assume the box is checked and we can move on to something else. It seems the less that something is really known, the quicker the label gets assigned.

Many times I let criticism of Romney slide over me as it is present on almost every thread usually posted by MM.
I mostly respond when unproven or made up stories are declared as fact.
I fear he could become McCain if President Trump or other Repubs don’t sit him down and tell him to start to get with the program.
I have seen no evidence that he isn’t a good Mormon or a good father or grandfather.
The one time I met him he was talking about his grandchildren and he has been a faithful husband as far as I know.
No one knows how Trump would have handled Candy Crowley blindsiding him in a debate.
All conjecture here in a hero worship mode.
