Captain Hate

I remember the good ole days when they had to band Styrofoam containers because breaking them caused the release of freon, which is heavier than air, to embiggen the hole in the ozone layer.
Posted by: Sponge at October 22, 2019 09:59 AM (Zz0t1)

Allow me to post a bit of double plus ungood anti-social and thoroughly deplorable opinion:

If the science is looked at honestly, it is quite easy to see that the "ozone hole" only "appeared" because a new satellite had been launched allowing measurements to be made in the southern polar regions. A theory was whipped up to explain why it had "just appeared", but in fact the data taken since suggests that it is a natural phenomena that has *always* been present, and that from time to time it grows larger or smaller due to natural conditions that man has nothing to do with.

Couple this observation with the fact that in the 80's, DuPont and other large manufacturers were losing their patents on freon and also on the designs of cheap refrigeration units that used simple coolants like that. Also note that the replacement materials and designs cost triple or quadruple what the original materials cost, and also had triple or quadruple the profit margins.

One might almost conclude that this is a massive con that has been running for over 40 years now.

Is this considered a feature or a bug by Beto and the clown car riders?

The Wall Street Journal @WSJ

From @WSJopinion: With a soaring homicide rate and strict gun laws, Mexico proves how deadly gun control can be, writes

MissMarple2

Tom R.,

I can get on now, too.

Some people on that thread Melinda posted thought that @jack had locked the entire site so not only the target of O'Keefe but other CNN people could lock or scrub their accounts.

Tom R

NBC News, however, reported “Justice Department officials have said [U.S. Attorney John] Durham has found something significant and critics should be careful.”

While there are multiple "something significant" possibilities, the one I think would be the most damaging is confirmation that during the Obama administration the government of Ukraine acted as a money laundering service and disseminated some of the $1+ billion in aid paid for by US taxpayers back into the coffers of Democrats and Deep State personnel.

MissMarple2

Captain Hate,

Tom Servo's opinion on the ozone hole is sort of like my sister's curiosity about the sudden discovery that Darvon and Darvocet (non-addictive) coincided with the patenting of opiates.

She wants to know if the same corporation made both medicines.

Buckeye

Beto isn't going to get to spring gun confiscation (or anything else) on us.

Probably happen over time anyway as a function of creeping incrementalism, you know, "common sense" gun laws.

Why do I have an intense hatred for anyone who thinks they know what is "good" for me?

MissMarple2

Ack! Left out a phrase!

It should read "the sudden discovery that Darvon and Darvocet(non-addictive) caused kidney damage coincided with the patenting of opiates."

henry

Tom R, we can all conjure up happy scenarios for "something significant." However we are getting anonymous "Justice Department officials" so it all should be taken with a grain of salt (or silo as preferred).

Melinda

Fred Barnes announces his handwringing has not yet begun, but he's really close to it. Then come the pearls:

I really think that would enrage the most voters. My daughter was ticked off at Biden and his son, even though she's a democrat, because she hates nepotism. Of course, she isn't supporting him but rather Elizabeth Warren, whom she thinks is honest and anti-big business. HA!

Kurt Schlichter was entirely too kind to Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney needs to be hogtied, hung from the ceiling, and then savagely beaten like a piñata, pour encourager les autres. Maybe that would teach some of these RINO bastards. Likely not, though.

Rocco

You know, suddenly all those Opioid settlements start to make sense when you see the other end of the pipe was getting some long overdue scrutiny:

MissMarple2

Melinda,

Maybe we should get the IRS to investigate Schiff and other congressional creeps of both parties. At least the IRS seems to get some results and it would get them off regular taxpayers' backs.

Maybe they ARE investigating. Mnuchin seems to be very smart and has been out of the limelight quite a bit.

Captain Hate

Deplorable D,

There's still way too much of a disconnect between the party's base and pols. As much as I despise Mutt, he's far from an isolated phenomenon and is just the latest example of the high handed manner the Tea Party was dealt with. The pols have been given many opportunities to turn it around the easy way but that requires too big of a change to ingrained habits.

Porchlight

Kinda sad what's happened to Romney. Even though "gracious loser" still means "loser," at least he could look back at 2012 and take comfort in having run a clean campaign. Now he's just a joke, and for what? A few social media likes?

Anyway, the Trump Curse marches on. I'd far rather Republican opposition take the hit than Republican allies (few as they are).

Speaking of gracious losers, Bob Dole has been a HUGE Trump supporter from the beginning. Reminding us (along with Huckabee) that happy warriors are where it's at.

The Federalist Society has a podcast titled "Fourth Branch" about unelected bureaucrats and regulators. A recent podcast I'm listening to is about the new CA privacy law (CCPA).
According to the presenters a new department will enforce the law. The department will be funded directly from fines imposed by the department. Also, part of the fines will be turned over to "community groups"

Anyone else suspicious of the alignment of priorities for this?

Melinds: I think she's missing a few items, including isolation of thought.

With "national" news, who owns the TV station masks who provides the news feed. Suppose the local station gets its news from AP, NBC, CBS, ABC, you get their jaundiced view, not a serious thorough examination of news. Classic rip and read.

Expect junk and be surprised if you get something better.

MissMarple2

I'm more on board with the Deplorable version of "d" LOL but I agree with Ig that it seems pretty pointless to argue with maryrose.
She has her opinion and she's sticking to it.

Sure, "I don't agree with that because XYZ" is understandable, but the back and forth? Boring.

I don't intend to spend much time on it, and I'll be scrolling by all the attempts to instruct maryrose on what she "should" believe.

I will say this on the topic though. If given a GOPe candidate, I intend to provide him/her with EXACTLY the same amount of support given by GOPe to my guy-- in other words: ZERO.

I hope Mitt runs again so we can show him graphically how we regard his policies and his person.

From Mel's 11:03

Rao Desu was a 50 percent owner in DVS Pharma Inc., (d/b/a Heights Pharmacy), a retail pharmacy in Piscataway. Darshna Desai was the other 50 percent owner and worked as the lead pharmacist. From April 2004 through November 2013, Desu conspired with Desai to conceal from the IRS the cash income that was earned by the pharmacy as part of a cash-skimming scheme. In particular, Desu’s relative, who assisted at times in the operation of several of Desu’s businesses, instructed Desai to separate the cash earned by Heights Pharmacy from other income received, remove a portion of the cash that was paid to Desai as cash salary, and then split the remainder in two, with one portion given to Desu and the other portion given to Desai.

Doing a job that an American wouldn't do, no doubt.

I had no idea he was such an awesome Fender bender; yow he can play de riffs. His current squeeze was with him so they only had to hide half the wimmenz!

MissMarple2

sbwaters,

One of the big mistakes the Indianapolis Star made was getting rid of the Teen Star. (I wrote for it when I was a high school senior.)

The Teen Star was a tabloid insert that carried stories from each of the local high schools, written by local high school students. They carried all sorts of stories except sports, and it was inserted in every Saturday paper through the school year. It probably got too big to manage since at one time we got up to 16 public high schools and 9 parochial and private schools here.

That is an idea that might work for a small town. It might help boost circulation because every parent and grandparent LOVES to see their child in the paper, or at least their names!

MissMarple2

HA! Got a text from my friend who is on her way to see grandkids in California, and the plane had Fox on part of the way.

AND, as I predicted, they are all verklempt about President Trump using the word "lynching."

Gillette's ad buy fiasco was pretty brutal, but it was an own goal by the advertising firm that designed, and sold to that PG Brand manager that exposed how out of touch the Ad company, and the exec who ok'd the buy, was from PG's consumers.

To go along with Melinda's 12:30, the GOP Establishment/Never Trumpers have to comprehend the reality of what is going on. They have no electoral base anymore. If any of them support impeachment and conviction of Trump, then surely they know they have committed political suicide. That is one reason why I asked what skeletons are in Romney's closet that he is scared Trump will expose. The vibe I'm getting from the GOP Establishment & NeverTrumpers is that they are more scared of what Trump is going to expose than they are of a future where the Progressives gain full control of the US government.

Actions speak louder than words and my confirmation bias is screaming at me that the actions of the Democrats, Uniparty Establishment, Deep State, Swamp etc know that Trump is about to release the Barr/Durham/Horowitz kraken. None of them are acting like they are in a position of power and in control of the situation. Their actions reek of desperation.
