This link showed up on the Breitbart article about BREXIT.

http://atticbug.blogspot.com/2019/09/the-real-origins-of-brexit.html

In fact, it wasn't just one people that was chosen, but a coalition of marginalised groups, defined by their race, religion, gender and sexuality. Immigrants were shipped in wholesale and encouraged to cling to the beliefs of their homelands - all the better to cause friction, create grounds for their victim status, and dilute our own hated culture. All minorities, whether foreign-born or homegrown, were told dark tales about a bigoted population hellbent on oppressing them. Women, meanwhile, were fed the story of the patriarchy: a misogynist plot that conspires to keep them down. In every case, the plight of the victim was presented as proof of the evil men do when they are left to their own devices.

During the years leading up to this change of tack, the ruling class had completed its march through the institutions, ensuring that whenever anyone turned on a TV, opened a newspaper or interacted with a public body, they would find a favourable impression of the establishment and its narrative, and a dim view of naysayers. Given this, and because establishment types had little meaningful contact with regular folk, they truly believed their opinions and their preeminence were the stuff of common sense - an assumption that only made their eventual rejection that much more shocking.

When the EU referendum took place, members of the ruling class knew this wasn't just a vote for or against membership, but for or against their own supremacy. They were convinced of a Remain victory, because everyone they knew wanted to preserve things as they were, and understood that the alternative would turn back the clock to a time when status and success were awarded via the whim of less refined people: an unthinkable prospect.

When defeat came, the elitists struggled to conceal what they thought of the traitorous masses. By hindering their prospects of a gilded existence, the proles had also rejected the elitists' holier-and-smarter-than-thou self-image. It followed, then, that these Brexiters were ignorant bigots, making their victory a blow against decency and good sense. Even their best attempts to avoid such accusations portrayed the electorate as idiots, who'd been duped into voting against their own interests. Condescension abounded.

In attempting to foil Brexit, the ruling class has been trying to get its hegemony back on track. Its increasing 'wokeness' is its way of delegitimising public opinion. Intersectionality - the cornerstone of progressive dogma - places more value on the wishes of designated victims than on those of the majority, and the leaders of progressive culture reserve the right to define victimhood as they see fit, perpetuating a narrative that identifies themselves as our only hope of a better tomorrow.

I'd say read the whole thing, but I excerpted quite a bit.

I got into a kerfuffle about "campus rape culture" this weekend and appalled everyone by stating that if the statistics are to be believed about one out of every five women on campus experiencing sexual assault, then we have three choices.

We shut down college campuses until they get their act together or refuse to send our daughters to the rape mills. We assigned gender dorms, with the assumption that the student body is too immature to share residential space. Or we tell students to grow up - boys, don't sleep with a girl who is wavering about sex or too drunk to enjoy it, girls, don't get falling down drunk around people you don't know or completely trust.

Violent assaults should be treated as such. Suspend the accused until the court case. Everything gets reported to local police.

My friends, all who have daughters and no sons, were appalled, but honestly, what kind of feminists are they raising? I don't know if I'll be invited out again.

Robin

Here's a lovely comment from that Attic Bug essay:

I'd almost forgotten what it felt like to live in a country that encouraged good natured patriotism, and our own history. That we once had big civil construction companies and manufacturers who sold their wares around the world. When we manufactured our own armaments, locomotives and rolling stock.. A country in which we had real sporting heroes and our police force were visible and potent. Thanks for writing this. I so hope we can get our nation back!

MM, that American Thinker commentary, I don't think they've thought through what happens if impeachment succeeds.

MissMarple2

Good morning, Robin!

Excellent essay, and reflects what I heard from average folks when I was in the UK the summer before they took the Brexit vote.

It translates very well to what we have put up with in the USA, doesn't it?

HAHA on Glacier Park, too! I think we are going to have a cold and snowy winter.

Robin-thanks for that @7:04. That explains the Diva's sudden interest in glacier during her freshman year of college.

It would also explain why she was so determined to see the barrier reef when she was an exchange student last year. I think I shared the story that she returned from nz trying to get me interested in composting.

Robin

They are risking pitchforks and torches, or worse.

Lately, I've been pushing back on a lot of my social circle's assumptions. One friend, a college professor in oenology (who I really want to stay friendly with :-) ), lambasted me with the usual left tropes about President Trump, stating that she stood with the majority in the country against him. I gently responded with, "I'm curious about what makes you think you're in the majority." I thought her head would explode. We had a nice go-round about faith in polls and then one of her trusty sidekicks stepped in with personal attacks and I withdrew.

I find it so interesting, willful blindness. I keep looking for it in my personal perusal of news, just to keep myself honest.

“My friends, all who have daughters and no sons, were appalled”

I honestly don’t get this. What did they find appalling, and what do they propose as alternative responses? Whether you’re a leftist “feminist” or conservative Neanderthal, isn’t shutting down an institution where 20% of the women are being raped the correct response? Or at least bringing in law enforcement?

Jimmyk,

I know - I said the same thing. If those numbers are accurate, then we are stupid to send our daughters to college. If those numbers are inaccurate, what exactly are they counting? Regret sex?

From Miss M's 6:36 American Thinker article:

I resent the hell out of the fact that everyone in the executive branch of government, and senior military officers loyal to Obama and not the American people, just brazenly lied about it and figured we the people wouldn’t notice, and wouldn’t remember.

That's the one sentence I disagree with. I think Obama, Hillary, and the rest sincerely believed the tipping point had been achieved. I think they, especially Hillary, were right up in our faces with the message, "Yeah, we're lying. What do you think you're going to do about it?"

Another Bob

“ what exactly are they counting? Regret sex?”

I think that’s exactly what’s happening. And that they’re generously rounding up.

In addition, lots have been taught that claiming victim status makes life easier. So they do.

I understand the 20% figure is bogus, but the point is that if you actually believe it, how could you not support shutting the places down and/or bringing in law enforcement?

The corollary, though, is since they don’t want to do that, it’s pretty clear they don’t actually believe it. It’s just a means to promote other causes.

Tom Bowler

I'm interested in the outcome of the Canadian election today, since I read a prediction somewhere that Pelosi won't bring MCA to a vote if Trudeau wins, burying it instead. Presumably a conservative PM is expected to get the Canadian Parliament to move on it while Trudeau is waiting for the US Congress to pass it. Supposedly, if Trudeau remains in office Pelosi will be better able to resist passing it thus preventing a win for Trump. And a win for the American people. She is such a dirt bag.

Heading off grid for at least the rest of the day.

Right. But what causes? I'm just fed up with the white boys are bad crap. At Cornell, a lot of the sexual assault cases I hear about are actually perpetrated by young men from other countries. But we can't talk about that. And interestingly, the president of Ithaca College, a woman of color, was accused and convicted of sexually abusing a female patient in the early aughts. How does she get a pass?

Re. the Noonan critique...

Our mistake was thinking that any media people were speaking for us, or trusting them to take a correct side. They are now and always were out for one thing - themselves.

“Journalism” has always been varying degrees of yellow, telling the truth only when it didn’t matter. I wasn’t around 125 years ago to know what the public thought of Hearst et al. Maybe it wasn’t taken as seriously.

But today we have fleets of “journalism” grads thinking they’re “professionals” and insisting they’re smarter than everyone else. Some become gatekeepers that assure “incorrect” views get marginalized (as Noonan now does). Others become influential, and act only to keep themselves in that position.

SBW’s quixotic battle with the AP is a treasure. If only there were a few thousand more.

Melinda

In fact, the article points out, the only rigorous subsequent study showed the opposite: Orchestras were practicing affirmative action, and blind auditions actually reduced the numbers of women who got jobs.

Of course there will be no consequences for the perpetrators of this fraud, including not just the authors, who had all sorts of disclaimers, but all the people who promoted the false finding.

There are never any consequences for our “elites” when they’re wrong, or when they are deliberately receptive and mendacious, regardless of how awful the consequences of their wrongness are.

Robin

Has anyone heard about this?

https://buffalochronicle.com/2019/10/19/trudeaus-west-grey-accusor-was-much-younger-than-first-thought/

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s underage accuser was much younger at the time of their relationship than was first thought, her father tells The Chronicle. Some in the public discourse pegged the accusor at 17 years old. That is inaccurate.

“She was much, much younger than that,” the wealthy Canadian businessman told The Chronicle yesterday. He was not a party to the $2.25 million mutual non-disclosure non-disparagement agreement that she signed, in exchange for her continued silence, on the Wednesday evening of October 9th.

The terms of that agreement prevent both the accuser and Trudeau from acknowledging “any aspect” of that relationship, without triggering a six-to-seven-figure liquidated damages clause. That penalty starts at $500,000 and scales up, depending on the magnitude of the breach.

Trudeau was allegedly found at the girl's house by her father, who insisted that the school fire him immediately.

Another Bob, use anti-monopoly laws to break up the online ad syndicates (there are two), and split them from the content providers (aka Goolag and friends).

California has done something else... it has given Becerra unilateral power to fine and crush any tech firm that does not bend a knee to whatever foolishness California thinks up next. (Which is basically how GDPR works too).

The spillover from social media to legally mandated data retention (eg payroll and sales transaction systems with federal and state audit requirements over decade long time periods) helps no one.

I got Lyme a few years ago, likely from hiking in the Berkshires. Treated it promptly (3 weeks of antibiotics), and was fine. First test came back negative, but the doc wisely suggested starting the antibiotics anyway (based on the look of the bite, which was on my back), and the next day I got a fever and felt like crap, which lasted two days. A week later a retest was positive.

Anyway, the point is that if you're aware of it and treat it immediately, it's no big deal.

The Infamous Ignatz

--Right. But what causes?--

Despite its many forms there is only one leftism and one cause; replacing Western Civilization and God with man. Man in his natural state is a selfish, brutal beast of the field who nevertheless constructs giant teetering counterfeit moralities to justify his theft and dominance of his neighbor. Every single thing progs do, especially their crocodile tears of "compassion" are in the service of self. Every. Thing.
They either consciously or subconsciously elevate man, and therefore themselves, into the rightful place of God. And once you're working on behalf of god and your god is selfish, hateful, self righteous man, then there are no limits to the things that are permitted in the service of that god.
And that is why all prog roads eventually lead to Treblinka and Kolyma.

MM @6:36. If you haven’t yet, go read the long comment near the top of the response section about the experience at the Dallas Trump rally.

What hit me about it was how close her reactions were to what the JOM gang experienced at the 9/12 march. EXCEPT that we were leaderless! No Trump to provide a focus. We were just pissed at the JEF and wanted to make sure someone noticed. That’s why I’m convinced that if anything happens to Trump, whether impeachment or something terrible physically, there will be a spontaneous move on DC 10x bigger with scary black guns included.

I'm putting the comment from American Thinker that MT drew attention to here in its entirety. It's beautiful.

WOW! I love this article, Eric, it expresses my feelings, totally. Thank you, so much!! As to why so many of us, who weren't Trump supporters in 2016, but are full supporters now, here is a first hand report from a person who attended that Trump Rally in Dallas 10-17-19:
Terri Harris Hill
October 18 at 4:43 PM
What is it REALLY like at a Trump Rally? It’s like nothing you could ever imagine and it’s certainly not like anything portrayed in the media.
I was incredibly fortunate to be a volunteer at the Trump Rally in Dallas last night, and I want to share with everyone the truth about the these events. A Trump Rally is a beautiful symphony of gratitude, love, appreciation and patriotism wrapped in organized chaos.
Let me address the organized chaos first, because this part is truly incredible. By 2:45 pm, I overheard security talking to each other reporting that from on the ground counts plus sky views via helicopter, they estimated there were 16,000 people in line. Sixteen thousand of anything is a lot, but these were 16,000 individuals, some who had already spent the night outside the American Airlines Arena, others had arrived before daybreak to stand in line. All the hundreds of individuals I spoke with yesterday had already been standing or sitting in line for 17 to 10 hours. No one was upset, frustrated or tired. Around 2 pm security started adding in extra “lanes” for the increasing crowds, so the people that had been sitting or standing all day were now having to get up and move. Then, as I was moving through the crowds I see the diversity of the people in line. ALL economic backgrounds were represented including every other demographic: white, black, Hispanic, Chinese, Korean, straight, gay, etc. All the little boxes the media like to separate individuals into were present, but they were all patriotic Trump supporters. There were a lot of young people (18-25), many late 20s to mid 30s. The majority were 35-55 age range with the second largest age group being 55-75. However, I also met at least two dozen amazing individuals who were 86-97 years old and they patiently and eagerly waited in line over 14 hours to see President Trump.
There were couples, families, friends and co-workers there together, waiting for hours in line with strangers at the beginning of the day, but friends by mid day. They were helping each other move chairs and coolers, sharing drinks, food and snacks, and friending each other on social media platforms. How were all these individuals of various backgrounds kept in line for over 18 hours until the doors opened to the arena? You’d expect there to be a heavy security presence amongst the lines, police intervening often and settling disputes. Here’s the thing - they weren’t needed. There was a plethora of law enforcement at the rally and arena and in the sky and on rooftops. But they didn’t have to watch the 50,000 plus Trump supporters that showed up for the rally. They kept a secure perimeter, monitored media (more on these idiots later), kept the small amount of protesters that showed up away from the crowds and mostly assisted for medical issues. And each time there was a need for medical assistance, such as someone getting hot, tired or dehydrated from standing in line, although the EMTs were quick to respond, before they arrived, fellow Trump supporters in line who were medical professionals would rush to them, assist and begin assessing them in seconds so when EMT arrived minutes later, in most cases, the individual had already been evaluated by a doctor or nurse. Trump supporters took care of each other so there simply wasn’t an urgent need for police to monitor the rally attendees.
As I walked through the lines and spoke with the attendees patiently waiting they all had definitive personal reasons for why they support President Trump. They weren’t regurgitating political talking points, but told me what President Trump meant to them individually. While each were different and unique, many had similar themes. Since I did not ask for permission to share their specific personal stories - or even think to ask at the time - I will share their general sentiments. They respect his honesty and bluntness. His tweets do not offend them and they appreciate the time and effort he makes to speak directly to the public. They do not trust the media AT ALL. They are sad and disappointed that they can’t trust anything they say, but they’ve come to terms with it. They agree with President Trump that Nancy Pelosi is crazy. They think Adam Schiff should be locked up. Another interesting recurring sentiment is while they do not trust or respect any Democrats, they aren’t particularly supportive of Republicans either. They trust Trump and support his efforts and successes on draining the swamp, and they REALLY want a big swamp draining.
Everything they talked about and shared were contrary to anything ever reported by mainstream media. You don’t hear about these testimonies on television nor do you read about them in newspapers or publications. I have always wondered why it is that the media never share pro-Trump interviews. Is it because they don’t want to be interviewed? It it because they tried but their responses were inarticulate and not worthy of publication? No to both of the above scenarios. These individuals are very articulate, extremely knowledgeable and more than willing to vocally speak up on why they unequivocally support President Trump. The reason you won’t see it in media is because THEY IGNORE THEM! Less than 50 yards separated the media entrance to the main vein of the attendee line. Less than 10 yards separated the press entrance from the VIP line. I watched one media outlet after another walk right past thousands of rally attendees without stopping once to interview anyone and went directly into the building. They weren’t running late and didn’t have time. Most had their cameras out and on their shoulders, they just weren’t interested in filming the Trump supporters. It doesn’t fit their narrative and radical left wing propaganda they are so dedicated to promoting. Watching this unfold really put it into perspective how they aren’t at all interested in reporting truth or what’s important to viewers. They only care about transmitting information that fits the narrative they’re selling.
I didn’t get into the arena until around 6:30 pm. The Trump Team volunteers fortunately had a suite reserved so there wasn’t a rush to find a seat. The place was packed floor to ceiling. Around 7:15 pm I walked out of the suite which overlooked the entrance and there were still people pouring into the arena.
At 7:42 pm, President Trump arrived and the cheering was so loud you could feel it in your internal organs. It shook you physically and emotionally in the most amazing way. I’ve watched several rallies on television or live feed from YouTube and while you could get a sense of the crowd response to certain things he would say, to witness it first hand is completely different. When the crowd roars with applause, you physically feel it. When he mentions the fake news media and the crowd boos, the vibration is indescribable. I can state without any hesitation that Trump supporters absolutely do not trust the media & they resent them for lying to the public. I loved being there and watching the 20,000 plus crowd cheer, boo and then fall silent to listen to their President speak. They love him, respect him and they trust him. Looking in front of the stage where the VIPs were standing, I could see three men close together with their arms around each other. They were veterans and two of them were holding up their friend in the middle who was a double amputee so he could see Trump. It was such a powerful image and one I’ll never forget. A few times I found myself wiping away tears because I was seeing and experiencing such beautiful moments that not only warmed my heart, but strengthened my resolve. When President Trump says the media and democrats are not fighting him, they’re fighting us, he’s right. When he chose to run for President, he made a decision to stand in between the corrupt politicians of the deep state and be our gladiator to fight them off from destroying our country and the values we hold so dear.
I’ve heard media pundits and ignorant politicians refer to Trump supporters as a cult, as ignorant and that we blindly follow him without knowing what we’re doing. That’s a flat out lie. Every single person I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what the truth was and saw through every lie presented by the fake news media and the politicians who only care about themselves. They don’t look at President Trump as a god, but they love and respect him as a hero. They care about him and his family and they pray for their health and safety. These are people who cannot be bought, manipulated or swayed by lies. President Trump awakened a sleeping giant. He has empowered a nation with truth, honesty & keeping his campaign promises. Trump supporters believe in him because he’s earned our respect. He’s fought for us, so he’s earned our affection. He has made America great again in every sense of the phrase and people have noticed. One of the things that I loved most about this experience was the realization that in every city at every rally, tens of thousands of supporters wait 10-24 hours just for the opportunity to attend a free event to see and support President Trump. And anyone that will do that, will certainly turn out to vote. Trump is unbeatable & any candidate hoping to win any election needs to only say three words and mean them to win any election, “I’m with Trump.” Because here’s the truth, you’re either with us or against us and WE ARE WITH HIM!

Trudeau was allegedly found at the girl's house by her father, who insisted that the school fire him immediately.

I have mentioned here before that one of my Canadian friend's wife supervised Trudeau's student teaching experience at a public high school in a Montreal suburb.

She was the Principal of the school. Trudeau was the only student she flunked in her career. She says he was totally worthless.

I wonder how he got the teaching credentials to work in any school? I will try to find out.

MissMarple2

Robin,

I just got done reading it over on AT, and you are right, it's beautiful. Having been to a rally here (during the campaign so it was smaller, just 7,000 in my old high school fieldhouse) I can say that is EXACTLY what the crowd was like.

If they have another one here they will have to have it in Lucas Oil Stadium or the Pacers' arena.

James D.

I wonder how he got the teaching credentials to work in any school? I will try to find out.

The same way The Omen got all of her jobs. The same way Hunter Biden got that cushy Ukranian job and that sweet, sweet Chinese cash. The same way Obama's daughter (forget which one) got an internship with Harvey Weinstein.

It pays to have your Daddy running the country.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Sunday, Oct. 20 sent a letter to President Donald Trump, asking that he consider Milwaukee as a host for the 2020 G7 meeting. The 46th G7 summit will be held June 10 through June 12, 2020. Milwaukee will play host to the 2020 Democratic National Convention July 13 through July 16, 2020.

Nice story.

Oh good grief, it would be like the second resident evil film

MT,

Thanks for calling my attention to that reply which Robin went ahead and posted.

While I was scrolling through the replies looking for it, I ran across this reply, telling a Trump critic to quit saying he was selfish.

Did you watch the Louisiana rally? All the talk about baseball with Scalise and the little league World Series champion team? All that and President Trump didn’t mention a word about having played baseball himself. I had heard he played so I looked it up after the rally. He was scouted by two pro teams in high school. By some accounts he was the best hs baseball player in New York at the time. Most people would have at least said “You know, I played a little baseball myself”, etc. Imagine Obama? That is class, humility, genuine interest in others. Not exactly “Me Me Me”.

Doral in Miami would have been the best place to hold the G-7, and free, but too much heat from the Do Nothing Radical Left Democrats & their Partner, the Fake News Media! I’m surprised that they allow me to give up my $400,000 Plus Presidential Salary! We’ll find someplace else!

Melinda

Nice! Lay out all the partners to the scams:

The long career of that retard makes me wonder why the GOP even pretends to be a party. How hard should it be to knock off a blowhard like that? But he kept getting re-elected as the GOP puts up worthless trash like Mike Castle. Can you imagine how badly Trump would attack that dumbass if going against him. It would be a first round KO.

Hes been the piano player in the (redacted) but like brett mcguirk and his paramour, this apparently was a wide open secret in baghdad, you think they had any respect for us while he was there,

An interesting statistic: that China now burns more coal than all other countries put together: 1907m tonnes vs 1864m tonnes.

Captain Hate,

Wasn't Mike Castle the one Karl Rove was campaign manager for when he was defeated in the primary by that earnest young gal (whose name I can't remember)?

It caused Rove to have a melt-down on Twitter and then he went to work for Fox as a political expert with his white board.

My assumption is that Bush knew that Rove needed a sure thing (how he came to represent W) and all of the smart guys thought Castle would be a shoo-in, but it blew up in their faces.

Narciso

I mean even the Horde would say, dude thats too much.

Captain Hate

China's just a humongous pollution machine. Too bad dumbass LeBron can't figure that out. Or Steve Kerr.

Robin

That business about the media walking right by thousands of rally attendees and not asking a single one of them for an interview is the kind of thing that causes a preference cascade.

I remember vividly attending the Tea Party rally at the federal offices in Syracuse, and one of the speakers held up that day's Syracuse Herald with an article about the reason for the rally and misinterpreting the quote by the organizers as "rally goers upset that they didn't get anything from the stimulus package." The shocked intake of breath from the crowd was palpable.

Never again did I question the perfidy of the news organizations.

Narciso

Christine o'donnell, she had spunk, she testified of her faith and her wayward path. Now we actually have a wiccan in the senate.

Robin

CH, has your wife started a course of antibiotics anyway?

Captain Hate

Yes. Christine O'Donnell defeated Castle the same way Dave Brat defeated Eric Cantor; by flatout outworking him while all the Rove types were munching down on prime rib and scrutinizing "metrics".

Narciso

Its like gledi prime, with a little more sun

Captain Hate

Yes, Robin.

So Pierre Delecto was following me. Hmmm. Discuss amongst yourselves.

And now, for some delicious comments to Mr. Schlapp:

Did he follow “Carlos Danger” (Anthony Wiener)?
These guys are embarrassing.

Pierre Delecto is the Rick Wilson of Paul Ryans.

It’s typical behavior for a
two-faced back-stabbing scum-bag like @MittRomney
Known him since his MTC (missionary training center) days, this immature self ego fed jackwagon has no business in Senate!! Utah needs to run @JonHuntsman
against him.

Maybe its because of your lobbying firm that takes big money from open borders groups.

Just guessing. <--Documentation was provided with this one.
