Democrats Increasingly Vocal in Calling ‘Medicare for All’ a Political Liability
Party leaders are describing the health care proposal that appeals to the party’s left as a risky bet that could neutralize one of the Democrats’ prime issues in 2020.

rse,
I really can't explain it either. I would think that as sibs grow older they would treasure those relationships. I blame it on sensitivity overload. Family makes an easy target. For some, opinions also tend to become entrenched after a certain age as that youthful spirit that engages and discusses becomes brittle and entrenched. It's silly, really.
I love the story about the door decoration for your father's room. That he enjoyed it is all that matters. You'll have to tell us what you find for a Christmas decoration.

I am pissed. Nowhere around my area can I find a butcher who will sell me some suet. My only alternative is to freeze some Crisco and once frozen put in a food processor and use that. You can buy it online but it takes weeks for it to be delivered since it is coming from the UK. Unlike the UK where Kidney pie is a tradition (eg. plenty of the fat surrounding those kidneys is suet).
Bummer.

From the previous thread about the author Doug Wead. I have his book "All the President's Children." It is fascinating. There are inspiring stories as well as heartbreaking stories. In many instances, the daughters were strong and reliable and the sons were losers. In the early years especially, presidential children died of illness (Lincoln's) or unfortunate incidents (Coolidge's son from an infected blister) or in war (TR's son Quentin).
Fun fact: one of Woodrow Wilson daughter's is buried in an ashram in India.
I think current presidential children will fade into obscurity, expect the Trump kids. :)

Hill then illustrated how this works by explaining that when she was working on a book, her phone was hacked repeatedly and that it became clear that a draft of her manuscript had been accessed. “After this, I started to get emails from people who purported to have met me at different points in my career. . . . And they’d start offering me information, you know, that somehow pertained to, strangely enough, some of the chapters that I was actually working on.”
They were trying to play me, Hill explained to the House Intelligence Community, and from her testimony that’s what Hill believed the Russians had done to Steele.

This paragraph of that article you linked at 3:49 stood out to me:
My Chinese interlocutor was not impressed. “You’re trying to tell me that the people who run the world’s great superpower are complete idiots who don’t think about the consequences of their actions? I don’t believe you.”
Having watched the last 2 weeks of impeachment hearings, I believe it, and I bet more Chinese do now, as well.
In fact, I think that it should be obvious that President Trump (despite that Queens accent which so many despise, but which I have grown to love) is smarter than 90% of them.

Lynn Chu:The State Department denied Shokin a visa out of what George Kent averred, providing no facts or details whatsoever, a "broadbased consensus," that for Shokin to allege corruption at the US embassy must itself be corrupt. [p. 50, George Kent statement (out of 355 empty rambling pages, in closed session, Nov. 6, 2019)]. What this is, is self-dealing. It is bias and an obvious conflict of interest from which State Department officials had a duty to recuse from any decision upon, and refer to their White House superiors for decision. They knew the White House decision would have been to admit Shokin (and his successor prosecutors) to meet and testify to Giuliani and his team, so it was insubordinate of State to block such entry and testimony from Shokin (and other Ukrainian prosecutors). A lot of firings are very likely warranted here.

I like Spengler's review of Andy McCarthy's new book, Ball of Collusion, posted on the last thread by Clarice. Here's the link again if you missed it:
https://pjmedia.com/spengler/a-national-nightmare-andrew-mccarthy-exposes-the-plot-against-the-president/
McCarthy's analysis is excellent. The only question that I have for him is why didn't he provide this more informed and robust information in explanation or in part defense of President Trump earlier - say a year or two ago? Was it based on his discomfort with the President from Queens? Was it to keep the substance of his book secret until it was published thereby enhancing its sales? Or perhaps Mr. McCarthy wasn't quite sure which way to bet on the outcome of the various plots to remove the President.
Others may have a different perspective on this. All I know is how frustrating it was to hear Andy McCarthy equivocate or remain virtually silent as these matters were being discussed by panelists in various interviews.
I picked up a great acronym from JiB here a day or two ago. YMMV
