Here we go again. I actually think the beginning of the end of Elizabeth Warren's campaign's end will be marked as yesterday with the release of her progressive fan fiction on Medicare For All.
Paul Krugman has the funniest reaction - serious libs pulled this together, the numbers sort of add up, this will never make it through Congress anyway, so lets talk about something else. Uh huh. I think Biden and Buttigieg will be happy to talk about this. Time will tell.
DO LET ME ADD: Among her revenue raisers is a proposal to adopt a mark-to-market on capital gains for the 1 percenters. She thinks that will raise $2 trillion, which ain't hay. Presumably she is getting a cue from Sen. Wyden, the ranking Dem on the Senate Finance Committee. As a longshot, maybe the Minuteman got results! (Yeah, yeah, this got booed off here and it hardly makes me want to back Warren, but the idea is coming on like a freight train. President Buttigieg will be looking for sock-the-rich revenue ideas, especially Constitutional ones. Of course, that might mean we're safe until 2025...

Has this been shared?
https://amgreatness.com/2019/11/02/a-great-awakening-to-the-fight-is-upon-us/
Two years ago, after speaking to a small religious group in Atlanta, my host drove me home but not before asking how I got along with my colleagues.
“Just fine,” I answered, ”Emory is a good place, with mostly good people. Sure, they can’t understand how anyone could have supported Trump, but they never mistreat me.”
“Wait,” he interrupted, ”they don’t get it?”
“About Trump—no,” I said, “but that goes for just about any college campus you can name.”
He didn’t hesitate: “Then it’s war.”
He wasn’t excited, he wasn’t angry, just matter-of-fact. His logic was pat. If a political opponent won’t listen to you, if he considers your politics inexplicable, it isn’t so big a leap to judging you indecent, repugnant, deplorable. From there, yes, it’s war. Unless, of course, you give up before the fighting even starts, or you’ve become so accustomed to losing that you don’t even imagine that the winners despise you no matter how many times they beat you down.

Dennis Prager:
https://amgreatness.com/2019/11/04/the-left-right-divide-is-about-reality-itself/
I have been aware of this for many years, but it was dramatically brought home last week when I was a guest on “Real Time With Bill Maher.” Given that the other two guests on the panel and more or less the entire studio audience were on the Left, their reactions to what I said proved my point.
For example, I said that though there are, of course, racists in the United States, America is the least racist multiethnic and multiracial country in the world.
I was booed.
I said the United States military has brought so much liberty to the world it deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
I was booed.
Clearly, there is an unbridgeable divide in the way we perceive the reality of the American military’s role in the world.
I said that it turned out the Russia-Trump campaign collusion never happened.
I was booed.
There is an unbridgeable divide in the way left and right perceive this reality.
I said the Trump-Ukrainian president phone transcript did not show a quid pro quo.
I was booed, and one of the other panelists said it actually showed “extortion.”
This, too, constitutes an unbridgeable divide between the way left and right view reality.
I said John Brennan, the former CIA director, has voted Communist. (He has admitted that he voted for the Communist Party USA presidential candidate Gus Hall in 1976.) I was dismissed as having made something up. Bill Maher sarcastically responded that he didn’t recall Mao having been on any ballot.
And I said that people on the Left say men can menstruate.
For that, I was not merely booed; I was laughed at by the panel, Maher and the audience.

Jane, I was in a car recently with a bunch of left-leaning individuals. One commented that she didn't think that the country would vote for a gay man. Before I could respond, another friend said, "I don't know what his policies are. I went to his website and didn't learn anything."
Buttigieg is only relevant and on the stage because he is gay. That a left-leaning individual saw that is a good sign.

Drone for Christmas?
Children will need to take theory test.
Children given drones this Christmas will have to sit through driving theory-style tests before they can fly them, regulators have said. People of all ages must show they are capable of flying the devices "safely and legally" by passing a multiple choice quiz. Anybody who flies a drone without doing so will face fines of up to £1,000 under a system launched by the Civil Aviation Authority today. Greg Wilford explains the new rules, which become law on November 30.

Senators have never rejected a governor's Cabinet appointee since at least before 1987, when the Legislative Reference Bureau began keeping records. But Republicans are targeting Agriculture Secretary Brad Pfaff in part due to his push to enact tougher siting rules designed to protect farmers' neighbors from the stench of manure.

I don't care how Epstein made his money.
I guess I'm a simple person, because for me it's enough that he raped teenage girls, bragged about it, was convicted for it, and all the elite folks in the media, and in Hollywood, and on Wall Street, and in the highest levels of national politics, all knew about it and not only didn't care, but were only too happy to attend his parties and take his money.
There's no defense of that, and nothing that needs to be explained. They all knew that the guy who threw the great parties raped teenage girls, and they just didn't care, and that makes them absolutely complicit, and the whole lot of them will one day burn in hell for that.

TomR's insisting that Adm Rogers was important but Rep Nunes was a bit player was overdone IMO. But the responses were disgraceful.
Thanks for the support but that's not really the main issue. Jane and I for the most part were having a respectful discussion about Lee Smith's book until some drama instigators stepped in and derailed the discussion. I have an ethical standard when it comes to conservative, pro-MAGA pundits. I am fine with them making money off their punditry but don't try and peddle misinformation and try to pass off your speculative opinion as fact. We already have plenty of pundits that get linked here who are guilty of that.
I disagreed with a fundamental point Lee Smith made that is displayed on the cover of his book: "The True Story of How Congressman Devin Nunes Uncovered the Biggest Political Scandal in US History". I'm a big fan of Nunes and believe him to be a member of the pro-Trump MAGA team but that subtitle triggered my Bullshit Detector.
Up until Lee Smith's book was released I am fairly certain the large majority of Trump supporters believed that it was someone on Team Trump inside the White House who showed Nunes the evidence. I made that point and Jane said Lee Smith was more credible than me and that I was usually wrong. OK in that case if I am wrong and it wasn't someone on Team Trump who gave Nunes the bombshell evidence then who was it? Jane said she knew who gave Nunes the bombshell evidence but she never revealed their name.
I am perfectly fine with being proven wrong and in this case if I am wrong then that IMO has huge ramifications. For the sake of discussion let's divide the Spygate players into three teams: Team Trump, Team Obama and Team USA (allegiance to the Constitution, not a party). The Venn diagram of the number of people with direct knowledge that Team Obama spied on Trump and who are members of either Team Trump or Team USA is IMO an extremely small subset. I can only think of two names: ADM Rogers and Jim Comey. If anyone has other possibilities please share. Limited to those two choices, my guess is that the most likely person who provided Nunes with the bombshell evidence was Comey since he had more direct knowledge of what Team Obama (and members of the DOJ/FBI) was doing than ADM Rogers did. If that is the truth of what happened then that changes pretty much everything we know about Comey's role in Spygate.
Now if it turns out I am right and Lee Smith is wrong, save yourself the money and instead of buying Smith's book go read Jeff Carlson's Spygate timeline at The Epoch Times for a detailed, objective history of the scandal.

On the heated rhetoric & partisanship, @DonaldJTrumpJr
says "we’re all pretty live-&-let-live and so is my father.” But he also says, “we’re not just going to roll over & die because the other side wants us to.” Asked to name his fave Democrat, he facetiously says "Mitt Romney."

You 11 thousand jump in the volcano first so we deplorables can see how its done.
Now, four decades later, a larger group of scientists is sounding another, much more urgent alarm. More than 11,000 experts from around the world are calling for a critical addition to the main strategy of dumping fossil fuels for renewable energy: there needs to be far fewer humans on the planet.

Is there a way we can bring Julian Assange here?
Posted by: Jane | November 05, 2019 at 11:23 AM
Jane, isn't Assange under extradition review from GB? (After his jail term there).

Going back to TM's original post
"I actually think the beginning of the end of Elizabeth Warren's campaign's end will be marked as yesterday."
It's a real problem for Dems, isn't it?
Bernie is not actually even a member of the party.
Liz is failing.
Slow Joe's intellect is visibly declining.
The bottom half of the clown car is falling by the wayside, one by one.

Jim, so it's Hillary or a failed mayor of South Bend?
Posted by: henry | November 05, 2019 at 11:29 AM
Or Michelle. Or Oprah.
There are still some waaaay-out alternatives available.
I think Avenatti(sp?) is off the table at this point though

--Any of you CA folks seen one of these petitions?--
Yes, but I'm doubtful they will go anywhere.
re: the CA Gov-recall effort
Just to get enough signatures would be a seismic event. Don't bother about the voting, it would go Dem. We're not THAT far along yet.

Matt
My grandmother was born and raised in the South (eastern Tennessee).
She made biscuits everyday, just like described in the article, with a slight variation.
She didn't use a fork, she used her hand. She kept a bowel in the cupboard that already had the dry ingredients in it. She would punch a hole in the center and then start to pour buttermilk into the depression while kneading with her fingers.
Soon a ball of dough formed which she lifted out of the bowl. The remaining dry ingredients where just that. Completely dry. She would stick the bowl back in the cupboard.
She never measured anything. Her biscuits were perfect. She did this EVERY day.
Everyone else I have seen attempt to mimic this just made glue.
She is where my Cherokee blood comes from, have no idea if that is part of the equation:)

Given the totality of the thread, kinda odd that my comment would be the one that triggered you. (shrugs)
In context, I thought it was condescending. Still do.
