Yes i thought kanye among all the hip hop crew had some real talent, and his willingness to break with the mold proves that, perhaps in an awkward way.
Interesting about the interim Bolivian president (didn't realize it was a woman either). Reading the comments in that Joyce Alene tweet (don't actually know who she is either!), it's just astonishing what people actually believe Trump is/has been guilty of doing.
I think it tells they win, if trump does that, i dont know what brainslug got into him, you would think his law practice would keep him more than occupied.
An interesting update on that brasilian version of left behind, the villain has ultimately decided to rebuild the temple, but has instead decided to build a new babylon out at the site of the old, and wait it out while having provoked a small nuclear exchange that struck many of thr worlds capitals but only took out parlianent in the uk.
Aaron is a curious fellow he has beem challenging the dnc hack narrative, at the nation, and the general russian interference, now he is part of sid vicious spawns webzine, the grey zone which is strongly pro maduro among other things.
The thing about qatar is they have a very much hatfield mccoy rival betweem the ruling al thani clan and the sauds, their big natural gas find allowed them to leap frog to the sanctuary for jihadists along with al jazeera, also they bear anger for a failed coup attempt in 96, they have bought most of the academic arabists. EU countries won't meet the NATO 2% defense spending commitment, now they want to spend defense monies outside of NATO to prop up their defense industries and freeze us out in the process.
Clarice is must read. More worthwhile news than you’ll find in the mainstream media. The so-called impeachment hearings are political spin to undermine our government.
Clarice's Pieces arrived just as I was about to get my 2nd cuppa and make poached eggs. Perfect timing; coffee, poached eggs, and Pieces.
I appreciate Clarice's cliff-notes summary of Peach Mint events precipitated by Yovanobitch "testimony" and Democrat meddling in elections here and in Ukraine. That's news I'll never see reported on over the air TV.
I wish I could read a Pieces synopsis of Barr's speech. I watched it last night but apparently dozed off and probably missed most of the good parts. My ability to absorb video or reading is down 40 dB by then.
I read several different accounts of this "try-out" and the circumstances are weird, if not bizarre.
It sounds like the lawyer for Copernicus set up the NFL and then refused standard NFL practices.
The event was originally set to be held at an Atlanta Falcons facility. The Copernicus lawyer wouldn't agree to sign a standard injury indemnification contract like the ones used at the combines.
Wanted the "try-out" public instead of private, with a film crew and the public in attendance.
So at the last minute they moved it to a pre-arranged private facility.
The real details are in other stories, but it sounds like a lawyer's scam to me and a PR stunt.
jim nj, regarding imagined illegal activities we discussed in passing last night, that was my interpretation that was not based on what you actually said. I would tend toward rough justice if left to my own devices, which I almost never do.
I wasn't going to respond, but there is a special place in my heart for you.
I love everybody here, with only a few exceptions, but I tend not to chime in with the happy birthdays and the requests for prayers, even though I offer them up.
That's just me, I'm a little reserved emotionally and don't post about it.
But to hear that, like Matt, you're losing your lover makes me very sad.
Maybe I ought to include Iggy here too.
It's amazing that you have accepted how much you love your women. That you are willing to let them go to find their path to their own happiness without recrimination and hope for their futures to be realized.
It is the mark of a true gentleman. To think more of your better half than of yourself.
We're on the same page. I don't want to hurt anyone, but I would like to find a way to put the fear of G-d into anyone who contemplates cheating in the election cycle.
A fake conspiracy targeting them, if well publicized, seemed like a good idea.
An update on my effort to stop using Citalopram, my anti-depressant.
I have gone from 40 mg per day to 30 per day to 20 per day to 10 per day to 5 per day to 5 every other day.
I expect to be off it entirely by the end of the month. If anything was going to interfere with that progress it would have been the Ukraine BS throwing me off. It's just such a simple joke that it isn't fazing me at all.
You want to impeach Trump, go ahead, you won't enjoy what happens next.
jim NJ--
I am all in on your #FakeNews "we have voter fraud covered, and we are going to come after you" messaging plan.
I'd TYPED a question about wean update, I should have written.
So---any effects at all??
I thought of you multiple times the other day, when we went to the 9/11 Museum. Seeing the timeline presentation certainly brought back my memories and emotions of that morning--and I was just a news observer, trying to figure out what I needed to do about my children who were at school, miles away from our home.
Here in CLT, not a witness across the river--but CLT then was the second largest financial center in the country, and as I did drive out to school, the local radio reported that our bank buildings were being evacuated.
I wasn't the only person who thought there could be further attacks.
Of note, the guide who we spent our first hour with noted that likely one third of the world's population witnessed that act of terrorism, many in real time, due to the timing of the strikes, via television and internet streaming. Afternoon from eastern Russia to Europe, morning news time here in the US. Early evening in India.
Thanks for the concern. Mental illness is nebulous. Is it permanent or transitory?
I've decided in my case that it is transitory. In my case I've been lucky that my providers have been willing to listen to me.
Thank you for your support and guidance.
I very clearly needed the medication at one point. And they would have been unconcerned to keep me on it.
But I raised the question. They were supportive. As of now they view it as a success. We got you the help you needed. You apparently don't need it now, we've cured you.
Up for a bit and wanted to catch jim_nj and maybe jim_nc about a post one of you probably made 2-3 weeks ago regarding the ham operators in CA being thrown out of the local forests where they maintained relay stations. A friend over for dinner last evening swore up and down that that was a hoax. Any updates on that from anyone would be appreciated.
When Daddy and I were exploring lower Manhattan we went past the 9/11 museum. We had looked at both memorial pools, but I told Daddy there was absolutely no way I would visit the museum.
He understood. And they had timed tickets so we couldn't do it on the spur of the moment.
I will never visit the museum. It wouldn't be a healthy thing for me to do.
Years ago I visited a church that served as a base camp for police and firefighters during 9/11. I went with friends. the Church no longer offered services, It served as a temporary museum before they transferred everything to the 9/11 museum.
jim NJ---Just found this as I am going through all my open tabs, seeing why I haven't closed them this past week.
Came across this one; (yes Ig, again an N=1), which I passed along, unread, to some of my relatives dealing--truly suffering,as KK noted re: his wife--w/ "treatment refractory" depression.
The question that arises: What is mental illness, and who gets to make that call??
I still remember reading jim nj's account of his 9/11 experience.
Thinking back on my own, and trying to overlay that with KNOWING PEOPLE in those towers, (I knew no one; my neighbor across the street, recently moved here from NYC, a hospital bond creator gal, knew 62 people who died)*
Watching , and realizing that people you knew and loved were going to die---and the utter helplessness that must have gone along with that.
Then WITNESSING their deaths when the towers collapsed.
What is "mentally ill" about that causing you to involute from the grief and shock associated with that blow?
You could argue that someone who pulled up their socks and went on as though nothing happened is who is mentally ill--a psychopath, lacking in feelings for others.
* Proofing this, it just hit me that she was diagnosed with cancer two weeks after 9/11, and died from it five months later, at age 42.
Related? Not the cancer, but her oh so quick demise?
I have postponed elective surgical procedures in grief stricken recently widowed people who I judged to not be up to the experience, with the agreement of the surgeons.
So, Trump is 0-2 in latest Governor races which will provide another meme for the MSM to exploit. It will be non- stop 24/7 along with impeachment follies. Somebody gave him bad advice on bothe Bevin in Kentucky and the Dems control of the largest parish (Orleans) in LA.
On page 30 of the pdf under Computational World, we have the assertion that "Massive increases in sensors and processing power make the world a programmable system."
Best wishes to all who have laid out the turns in their marital life. That was actually a topic at a 60th birthday party I was at last night so it is clearly not an uncommon occurrence anymore.
The only update I have is my dad has told me this week that he saw "someone who used to work for me" as he looked off in the distance and then the next day he said he saw his "daddy".
ManTran, 7:12
I passed along the ham radio story.
Later today I'll go back to see if I can find the link.
It may be this: https://www.askaprepper.com/why-do-government-officials-want-to-ban-ham-radio-its-already-begun-in-california/
Here is their claim:
Convinced that at some undetermined day, still in the future, (California) won’t have to depend on HAM Radio operators for emergency communications, they’ve decided they don’t need them now. Therefore, they have sent a letter to all HAM Radio operators in the state, informing them that their repeaters will no longer be allowed to be on “public” land or buildings for free, but would instead have to pay hefty fees to locate them there.
The repeaters in question are privately owned and operated radios that boost the signal of communications that will otherwise not reach their intended destination. They are not owned by corporations which have deep pockets to pay government fees, but by individuals who provide emergency communications for free.
I've told my story before. How I planned to be at a financial technology exposition at Windows on the World that day and didn't go. The first tower that was hit and how nobody from that exposition survived.
It has been excised from the news, but the jumpers were from that exposition.
It took a real long time, but I'm OK with that now now. I can talk about it now without feeling guilty.
For me it takes the stigma of mental illness away. Just telling people to snap out of it doesn't work.
Some mental illness is permanent. Some is transitory based on situational issues.
In most cases treatment is guesswork. Too many people are over-medicated. I've seen that up-close.
For some people, when the stress levels rise too high, self-preservation kicks in. They have to remove themselves from the situation.
Rispone only lost Orléans parish (New Orleans) by 101,000 votes, 90-10%.
Then the people of New Orleans deserve to drown in the next hurricane. Didn’t they learn from the last time what happens when you keep electing crooked Democrats to run your stars?
Somebody gave him bad advice on bothe Bevin in Kentucky and the Dems control of the largest parish (Orleans) in LA.
What’s he supposed to do? He can’t control who the GOP nominated inKY or the voter makeup or New Orleans. And it’s expected at this point that he’ll campaign for GOP candidates, especially in major races.
If he did t weigh in on this lose races, the MSM spin would be that he’s a coward or somesuch.
Yes, I knew people who died in the 9/11 attack. The NYTimes had an excellent series of stories of those who died in the attack. I had to stop reading it.
Bevin had an approval rating of about 30%. He was damaged goods but didn't effect the down ticket which was a clean sweep.
Spendng as much as he did in LA, he still couldn't bring Rispone over the line.
What's he gping to do in 2020? Is he going to campaign for every House and Senate seat or is he going to campaign for himself and his coat-tails? I just think his rallies help him more than the other candidates. When Parscale publishes the demographic of his rallies, do you think those 20% democrats change their vote to the GOP candidate? Not me, they may vote for Trump as President but they still cling to their local Democrat candidate.
In Bergen County, NJ, in my youth, the ham radio drills for Bergen County took place in Winton White stadium just a few hundred yards from my home. Lots of emergency generators
If memory serves me correctly the goal was to get the most QT's. Which were contacts with other ham radio operators. The idea being that they could create by re-broadcasts an early-style internet. Or was it DQ's like in the Terminator films.
I can't remember, but they caught world-wide connections.
"But these races were probably the two biggest races of this cycle, and if he hadn't weighed in, I think he would have gotten hammered in the press."
Not that I think getting hammered in the press much matters, if not for one thing it will be another, but I'm not sure that's really the case. Most presidents have not gotten actively involved in "local" races at all; Trump's willingness to do that is the exception. In both cases, his support made a big enough difference that it might have carried a slightly better/stronger candidate over the line. I expect that was the calculation. There would be no need for him to campaign for candidates who were expected to win.
It cannot be lost on state GOP folks that the down tickets in both Kentucky and Louisiana were won by GOP candidates by substantial margins, and that the GOP candidates for governor had their support brought up by substantial margins, even though they were personally unpopular in the state.
For Bevin to have support of only 30% and yet only lose by a few thousand votes indicates Trump's influence in Kentucky is quite substantial. In Louisiana, it seems the supporters of the other GOP candidate in the run-off made a locally-known deliberate attempt to vote GOP on everyone but Rispone,
and did not vote for a gubernatorial candidate. (This information on Louisiana I gleaned from Twitter last night, but kept quiet about it since I didn't know who the poster of the information was.)
John Bel Edwards is apparently pro-life, a rarity in dem circles these days, which might have also shaved off a few votes with traditional democrats who otherwise might have bolted to the GOP had he been a Gavin Newsome type. Edwards isn't going to be able to do much since the GOP swept all of those lower offices and the legislature.

I haven't heard all the background on your determination to eliminate anti-depression medication, so I don't know why you've come to that decision. I'm glad to hear you have supportive advisors, and I hope you continue to receive regular professional care for at least a year after you've achieved your goal. I know more than one person who was convinced they ought to be able to function without medication, with tragic results. I don't mean to be discouraging, just to suggest that working with a therapist can help you establish solid drug-free coping mechanisms and/or identify the signs that all is not well, if your need turns out to be clinical, rather than circumstantial. I do wish you the very best with your endeavor!
Welcome back, Narciso! It's just not the same place without you.

KK,
I wasn't going to respond, but there is a special place in my heart for you.

Hoyden,
We're on the same page.

I don't think Pelosi is stupid.
I don't think Independents are jumping on the Impeachment bandwagon, the Schiff show has been a big yawn so far.
Nothing has happened that screams "write the articles" or "call the vote".
I do agree however that if Trump is impeached and removed all hell will break loose.

jim NJ--
I am all in on your #FakeNews "we have voter fraud covered, and we are going to come after you" messaging plan.

Never mind my response to that.

Anon,
When Daddy and I were exploring lower Manhattan we went past the 9/11 museum.
I had to walk out, it was so overwhelming to me.
Time and distance has healed me.

I think nearly everyone has some element of mental illness lurking in their psyche, but there are lots of different ways it manifests itself.
Many are ways that are beyond our control.

If you are around, this paper fits with what you and I have speculated someone was thinking and desiring using data and ed and IT. https://www.cornerstoneondemand.com/sites/default/files/partner/asset/files/skilla-transversal-skills-future-proof.pdf

I passed along the ham radio story.
Later today I'll go back to see if I can find the link.
It may be this:
https://www.askaprepper.com/why-do-government-officials-want-to-ban-ham-radio-its-already-begun-in-california/
Apologies if it's fake news

Buckeye,
I've told my story before.

Posted by: James D. | November 17, 2019 at 08:02 AM

Anon,
Yes, I knew people who died in the 9/11 attack. The NYTimes had an excellent series of stories of those who died in the attack. I had to stop reading it.
Posted by: jim nj | November 17, 2019 at 08:09 AM
jamesD,
Bevin had an approval rating of about 30%.

Posted by: Jane | November 17, 2019 at 08:26 AM
JiB, he won't have time to campaign for everyone in 2020.
But these races were probably the two biggest races of this cycle, and if he hadn't weighed in, I think he would have gotten hammered in the press.
I mean, more than he already does every day.
Posted by: James D. | November 17, 2019 at 08:35 AM
why-do-government-officials-want-to-ban-ham-radio-its-already-begun-in-california/
Because it's not controlled by the government.
Because it's a way for citizens to be self-reliant.
We can't have that!

Man Tran and Jim, Sunny,
In Bergen County, NJ, in my youth, the ham radio drills for Bergen County took place in Winton White stadium just a few hundred yards from my home.

Good morning, JOM, and thanks. Dr J we corrected it,
Posted by: clarice | November 17, 2019 at 09:07 AM
Good morning!
