A possible NY resolution - get your flu shot. I have been assured that the shot I got a month ago has mitigated the pain and suffering I have been experiencing with the actual flu. (and they call this mitigation?!?)
Of course, if you can be diligent about keeping your resolutions, resolve to not get the flu. Didn't work for me, but its a new year coming!
Good Morning! Hope you feel better soon TM.

Willowed.
“This guy says on his show that the TX church people should have noticed the fake beard and long coat on the guy and not let him enter, and that places of worship should require ID cards.”
So that guy essentially says the parishioners had it coming?
And his solution is for every public place to have armed bouncers? (Because when the gunman is refused entry to the church, what does he do then?)
I’m all for people having the right to exclude whomever they want from their social groups, but I doubt he’ll like that outcome.

Sorry about the flu, TM, but as amom will remind, getting the shot increases your chances of surviving the flu, not in avoiding it.

The church service in Texas was already underway when the perp entered the sanctuary.
May or may not have been anyone in a position to see him enter the church. This deserves scrutiny.
Didn't take long for the guys in the sanctuary that were packing to respond.
Little to criticize regarding the response in my mind.

Re Bloomberg
It's probably useful in understanding everything that's going on, but it implies micro-management and a control freak personality.
I worked at BNA before he bought it out, but I heard about the changes he brought there from friends who stayed, and that's exactly it - micromanagement and control-freakism, renovation of offices to create the useless, hateful open-office plan, and every employee was given a copy of a biography of Bloomberg.

Fell better soon.
I don’t want to shit up the thread so early, but I will if I have too. I keep seeing it mentioned here and elsewhere that 2020 begins the next decade. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that 2020 is the last year of the 2nd decade. If you have a group of 10 of anything the next group of 10 starts with 1. Not that it really matters. I eagerly await discussion.
Everybody have a safe night and Happy New Year.

At the branch of GE I worked at 20 years ago, they gave all the newbs a hagiography of Welch. I found it positively creepy, Mao’s Little Red Book kind of creepy. And he was always referred to as Jack. You said Jack, you meant Welch. My boss was named Jack, and we had to call him by his last name.
Those cults of personality places are inevitably horrible places to work. I left after 14 months, making sure they couldn’t come after me for the relo money.

Posted by: Another Bob | December 31, 2019 at 09:37 AM
The claim at the time was that Crowdstrike captured images of the hard drives and the memory yet they never had physical possession of the server. They resolved that it was a “hack” based off of what they gleaned from those images. How many hard drives are on a cloud? Did they “image” all of the hard drives? Are there no cloud servers in Ukraine?

I’m no cloud expert, but wouldn’t the “hack” occur on the client using the cloud for storage? If the apps were hosted on the cloud too, how would you hack that without accessing a client?
Posted by: Another Bob | December 31, 2019 at 10:07 AM
Another Bob, simple. Hijack the FBI’s Patriot Act back door on the service provider systems. (Note, these are separate from the phone unlocking. But common carriers require access without warrants.. see metadata on your land line).
I can see why the FBI and swamp would not want to point out that the entire world has the back door keys, not just them.
Also, that is why we encrypt customer data ourselves instead of rely on encryption by the host data center.
Posted by: henry | December 31, 2019 at 10:12 AM
Further, there is a frightening amount of data sitting in the cloud with no security (let alone encryption). Hillary’s server was one example. The DNC might be another. New instances pop up every week.
Posted by: henry | December 31, 2019 at 10:15 AM
Thanks Henry. Forgot that aspect.
My fundamental question is what would Crowdstrike image and turn over as “proof”? And what would the proof be?
(Never mind that FBI would take CS’s word for it.)
Posted by: Another Bob | December 31, 2019 at 10:20 AM
Another Bob, early “cloud” was renting by the server (think Rackspace or Sungard or even the clowns with Hillary’s bathroom server). Thus there would be a discrete machine to image.

Gantlejim:
"Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that 2020 is the last year of the 2nd decade."
And yet, we are 1 year old till the end of our 2nd year; the 21st century started on 1/1/2000, and we'll be in the twenty twenties, not the teens or oughts, till 2030. Things have always been a mess. If you start the 2000's at 2000, however, then the first decade concludes on 12/31/2009, whereupon the second decade commences and ends on 12/31/19.

Gentlejim, you are wrong.
Your first year of life ends when you celebrate your first birthday; your first decade of life is over--you have lived for ten years-- when you celebrate your tenth birthday.
You begin your second decade the day you turn ten.
So 2020 is the beginning of the next decade.

Posted by: Another Bob | December 31, 2019 at 10:35 AM

Are you saying that the current decade ends on 31 DEC 2019?
1 JAN 2000 was the start of a new century and a new millennium so it does make sense that it was also the start of a new decade.
Does it even make a difference except for deciding the timeframe of Sports Team/Player of the Decade?
Posted by: Tom R | December 31, 2019 at 10:40 AM
VM’s on load balanced boxes? Only if you purchase platform as a service (aka get stuck on one vendors system choices at AWS, MS, IBM, Goolag etc). If you have your own bare metal architecture it is still by the machine, load balance* on own. I can get bare metal from three of those, the platform is not worth the price at any (personal opinion).
* essentially all platform services can be had via open source tools. These work better and cost much less than branded stuff.

No idea who Jack Blade is, or if this is true:
FINALLY!! - THE REAL REASON BEHIND BERGDAHL'S RELEASE, HILLARY'S SERVER BEING WIPED, and the BENGHAZI MASSACRE!
Here's the real Benghazi story:
Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to secretly retrieve US made Stinger Missiles that the State Dept had supplied to Ansar al Sharia in Libya WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission! Sec State Hillary Clinton had brokered the Libya deal through Ambassador Stevens and a Private Arms Dealer named Marc Turi, but some of the shoulder fired Stinger Missiles ended up in Afghanistan where they were used against our own military. On July 25th, 2012, a US Chinook helicopter was downed by one of them. Not destroyed only because the idiot Taliban didn't arm the missile. The helicopter didn't explode, but it had to land and an ordnance team recovered the missile’s serial number which led back to a cache of Stinger Missiles kept in Qatar by the CIA.
Obama and Hillary were in full panic mode, so Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to retrieve the rest of the Stinger Missiles. This was a "do-or-die" mission, which explains the “Stand Down Orders” given to multiple rescue teams during the siege of the US Embassy. It was the State Dept, NOT the CIA, that supplied the Stinger Missiles to our sworn enemies because Gen. Petraeus at CIA would not approve supplying the deadly missiles due to their potential use against commercial aircraft. So then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus when he refused to testify in support of Obama’s phony claim of a “spontaneous uprising caused by a YouTube video that insulted Muslims.”
Obama and Hillary committed TREASON! This is what the investigation is all about, WHY she had a Private Server, (in order to delete the digital evidence), and WHY Obama, two weeks after the attack, told the UN that the attack was the result of the YouTube video, even though everyone KNEW it was not.
Furthermore, the Taliban knew that the administration had aided and abetted the enemy WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission, so they began pressuring (blackmailing) the Obama Administration to release five Taliban generals being held at Guantanamo. Bowe Bergdahl was just a useful pawn used to cover the release of the Taliban generals. Everyone knew Bergdahl was a traitor but Obama used Bergdahl’s exchange for the five Taliban generals to cover that Obama was being coerced by the Taliban about the unauthorized Stinger Missile deal. So we have a traitor (BHO) as POTUS that is not only corrupt, but compromised as well, and a Sec of State that is a serial liar, who perjured herself multiple times at the Congressional Hearings on Benghazi. Perhaps this is why no military aircraft were called upon for help in Benghazi, Because the administration knew that our enemies had Stinger Missiles, that if used to down those planes, would likely be traced back to the CIA cache in Qatar, and then to the State Dept’s illegitimate arms deal in Libya.
Forward this again and again and again until everyone reads the true story of Benghazi. More than half of US citizens DO NOT Know.

They need to keep pumping out opeds so they keep getting paid. What Spygate topics are they going to write about while we all wait for Durham to finish up with his investigation? You know good and well the pundits/bloggers are going to keep writing speculative opeds treating their opinions about Rosenstein as fact and someone here will link it.

Very good meeting on the Middle East, the Military, and Trade. Heading back to The Southern White House (Mar-a-Lago!). Updates throughout the day.

I’m happy that I could stimulate some discussion this morning. :)
Regardless, or is it irregardless, of whether I was right or wrong I have to go do some work.
Behave..

Bill collected $12 million for his memoirs.
Hillary collected $8 million for her memoirs.
Comey collected $3 million for his.
That's $23 million for the memories of three people , who for years , have repeatedly testified under oath , that they couldn't remember a damn thing.

That would be "regardless," Gentlejim. The other is not actually a word. Only Shakespeare could get away with using it, which, of course, he never did. :-)

And if what you say was the first year of my life, then the 10th year is the year following my ninth birthday.
The 10th year is the year waiting to be completed following your 9th birthday. When completed you will have reached a decade.

TK...if the decade starts at one...what decade is .01 in...or 0.9?
The .01 and the .9 are fractions of the same decade.

Don't roll out MY SAT scores in math! LOL!
