Student EXPELLED Over 'It's Okay to Be White' Poster at Oklahoma Law School

In a statement to students and faculty, law school Dean Jim Roth praised the group that removed the flyers and notified OCU administrators.

“Despite what the intentions of that message may have been, the message reminds me of one fact that I know our community embraces — it’s okay to be EVERYBODY,” Roth said in a statement the day the flyers were found.

But only some can say it. IOW, get in the closet cracker.

https://www.businessinsider.com/photos-show-bagram-air-base-damage-after-intense-taliban-assault-2019-12

This almost sounds like a PR stunt in the context of the resumed talks with the Taliban.
And the reporting seems to be off. Yes there was an attack on the civilian terminal at Bagram and a new hospital under construction outside the base.

As I read it the Taliban didn't get into the military side of the base.

So we will again "pause" our talks with the Taliban.

I am not opposed to talking with the Taliban, but their diplomatic skills seem to be wanting.

If this is a bargaining tactic, we should acquaint them with our Hanoi and bomb them back to the bargaining tactic.

jim nj

I don't know which is worse - dealing with the democrats or the Taliban, but at least we are allowed to employ lethal force against the latter.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-reaches-principle-china-deal-202936569.html

Formal announcement expected later today. I'm curious to see the details.

I presume there will be lots of spinning on whether this is a good or bad deal. Lots of spinning.

Just off the top of my head the timing of the deal suggests that the imposition of the Dec. 15 increase in tariffs must have been a large factor in this proposed agreement.

jim nj

It's not just a trade deal, it's also a political deal, which means that criticism or acclaim may arise on either aspect.

Some won't want to see this as a win for Trump, if it is, and Trump is going to allow the Chinese some face and offer praise in order to move forward on the more difficult issues.

But if the deal does include 50 billion in Chinese purchases of US agricultural products it will cause many people to take that as THE headline among Trump supporters.

jim nj

Was it JIB, or somebody else, who mentioned wanting to watch the Jets-Raven game for the Ravens QB. I watched for an hour and he was impressive.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson broke Michael Vick's single season QB rushing record last night. Man he's quick. And he's got moves.

jim nj

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-greece-libya-turkey/head-of-libya-parliament-says-turkey-libyan-deal-invalid-idUSKBN1YG26Z

Turkey is the only country that likes that deal.

Greece hates the new maritime deal. So do others as it seems to be designed to hamstring countries that are involved with the newly found natural gas fields off the coasts of Egypt, Israel and Cyprus.

The Turks want the NG pipeline to terminate in Turkey instead of Greece as the original planning proposed.

JIB, or another engineer, can probably look at a map of the fields and figure out the best customers and where the pipelines should go, but I suspect Europe, if the best customer, would rather deal with Greece than Turkey.

Personally, I don't trust Turkey for much of anything anymore.

These finds are of a huge benefit to each country and Turkey is trying to figure out how to profit off all of them.

You could build pipelines to each country to use the NG, but the money to be gained in export is even more important.

Whoever gets the export distribution pipeline gets a share of the profits.

Call me a bigot, if you will, for assuming that EU and NATO countries would prefer a Greek-bound pipeline, rather than one destined for Turkey.

Lebanon electricity crisis: Stealing power to survive

"Six o'clock in the evening is the big switch-over in Mohammed Masri's home.

It is the moment when, every other day, the apartment goes dark and silent. The lights, the fan, the TV, the fridge, all go off.

The next day, at the same time, they all come on. And that is how it has been - on-off, off-on - for more than 10 years, in his house, and most others in Lebanon.

The country's national grid can supply only about half the electricity people want."

I didn't know that. That would get me out in the streets protesting.

U.S. Military Official Warns Of Dangerous Escalation In Iran-Backed Attacks In Iraq

"Rockets struck Baghdad's international airport compound Thursday, as the country tries to contain anti-government protests which have shaken the foundation of the Iraqi government. The attack appears to be the latest in what a senior U.S. military official described as a dangerously escalating campaign by Iran-backed militias.

The protests, which have swept cities from Baghdad to Basra over the last two-and-a-half months, have laid bare the Iraqi government's limited ability to control Iran-backed paramilitary forces that are now part of the country's official security forces. And they have raised fears that tensions among the largest of roughly 30 different Iran-backed groups will divert attention from fighting a resurgent ISIS."

Many of these groups just don't understand that the US uses restraint in its actions.

If we go all Russian on them, they're like what did we do to deserve this?

Oh, I didn't know they weren't able to get the BREXIT candidates off the ballot. Thanks for that information. I have to go look and see what the final tally was.

Melinda

Brexit Party members stood down, offered support to the Conservative candidates, lest a Laborite take a split for the win. It’s why Farage stood down.

Melinda

It’s as if the Tea Party took over as a Majority of public Opinion, but in reality, took over the GOP from within. Might’ve taken one, but probably two election cycles.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

"Brexit Party members stood down, offered support to the Conservative candidates"

Still, BrExit candidates WERE still on the ballot.
And in a number of seats which Labour won, the combined total of Con plus BrEx was more than the votes for Labour. It could have been worse for Labour.

If the dumbass congresspeople are too stupid to collect their papers before leaving the room, they deserve whatever bad happens to them. I know when I’m part of a negotiation with a customer, I sure don’t leave my prep and contemporaneous notes sitting around in the conference room.

In this case, might it have been a way to intentionally leak?

The media people did break rules and ought to pick up some punishment - permanent blacklisting from the Capitol seems appropriate.

Before the #UKGeneralElection results started pouring in yesterday, I read articles about:

As someone on Twitter said, one would almost think they were trying to influence the election.

I was wondering where the hell the WSJ got it's "Boris wains with a comfortable majority" carp and it totally explains the carp like this:

Dan Alpert
@DanielAlpert
Non-representative Democracy:
The UK and US have similar problems. We have presidents elected here with a minority of the popular vote and a Senate led by senators collectively elected by tiny minority of the American people. Yesterday, the majority of voters opposed #Brexit...
...and, yet, the Conservative party - promising to get #Brexit done - prevailed by a wide margin. Count up the votes for Labour, Lib Dem, SNP, Greens, Alliance, SF, SDLP, and Independents. Assume 95% were solid remain votes given defections to the Tories.
theguardian.com/politics/ng-in…

The answer is clear - there were more voters supporting candidates vowing to support remaining in the #EuropeanUnion than the other way round. A proxy for what would have happened in a 2nd referendum. Yet the other way round will now prevail. Johnson: "a victory for democracy" ?
