Were not, outset, also wuhan onstitute is teputedly known in some circles as the real umbrella corporation.

MissMarple2

Captain Hate,

I said yesterday my daughter bought extra canned goods to be delivered. Today we bought instant coffee at the store. She also has 15 pounds of dog food in the trunk of her car. She is really worried about that coronavirus.

Captain Hate

And yet they wete not ruthless enough to cauterize the problem at the putset.

There's a reason they steal software...

Narciso

I didnt recall this

Captain Hate

She is really worried about that coronavirus.

If I thought there was any reason to panic I wouldn't go to Santa Cruz Tuesday.

Narciso

Theres an interesting spy thriller sort of the female counterpart to mitch rapp the rhythm section, but according the film reviews they took out much of the best parts of the story.

Narciso

I say mitch rapp, because the protagonist is motivated by vengeance.

Narciso

The thing they have little ideological objection with sanders.

AB,

The Wuhan statistics are covered in the numbers for Hubei Province.

MissMarple2

Captain Hate,

There is no getting her calmed down. Every time I say there isn't something to worry about, she finds an article with people being cremated or something.

Today all of the people in Wuhan have to stay in their homes and only one person can leave for essential supplies every other day!

DrJ

CH,

Tuesday? For how long will you be here? There is a very good chance that I will be in the Bay Area on Saturday.

Another Bob

Ah, absolutely right Jim. I stand corrected. Thanks.

MissMarple2

Narciso,

Is that tweet John Cusack the actor, or just someone with the same name? He sure seems pretty foul tempered!

Captain Hate

LOL @ Cusack. I think his sister could pound his pansy ass. He was well cast as a record store smartass geek in High Fidelity. That's your role, punk, don't push it.

Narciso

Yes thats him he was the over expositing dea agent in con air. He talked himself into 2012, where you rooting for the apocalypse.

Captain Hate

I'll be there Saturday, DrJ. I'll call you before then. I'm volunteering at Pebble Beach on Friday (please don't rain).

Narciso

His career has not been on fire, well perhaps dumpster fire.

MissMarple2

Wow. Didn’t see this coming. https://t.co/azoOApoTDD

They must REALLY want to keep Bernie off the top of the ticket! HA!

Please send email. I don't do well on the telephone any longer. If a phone call proves the better route, we can set it up by email.

JM Hanes

"the other hand, he won and I didn’t but I would not have done what he’s done in order to win."

Yeah, and that's why I would crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump again and regret my vote for you, Mitt.

Narciso

The third way think tank seems to directing this anti sanders strategy. Good grief they might as well be working for him.

So worth listening to! Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham, on yesterday, and how Lisa Murkowski and Lamar Alexander came to make the decisions they did:

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/verdict-with-ted-cruz/id1495601614

Lindsay closes promising this is just the end of the beginning--that the Senate will be investigating Burisma, and the origins of the FISA warrants against Page (Trump).
Upholding their Constitutional charge to do oversight.

The Infamous Ignatz

Interesting article at WUWT;
This Week’s Peak Permian Prediction? Why “Peak Permian” is almost an oxymoron.

JM Hanes

Ignatz:

My Dad came in through Algeria, too, and for quite awhile they fought without any air cover. He wrote about a place they nicknamed "Stuka Alley" where you could hear the planes approaching everyday and then the distinctive sound of bombs whistling in. It was one of the only times he talked about fear, and all he said was that if someone told you hearing that sound didn't scare the hell out of them, they were lying. I know the men on the ground were really, really glad when the U.S. planes got there!

The Infamous Ignatz

Can't remember if this was already linked, but it's pretty funny. Ted Cruz seems to be turning into a more relaxed instigator;
Clap back! Ted Cruz appears to mock Nancy Pelosi's famous hand clap as Republicans vote against witnesses and effectively end Donald Trump's impeachment trial.

Captain Hate

Cruz link doesn't work

Narciso

No it doesnt, i can imagine with no shelter in the deep desert it must have been terrifying.

Another Bob

I posted the links to that an hour plus ago amom. It is really good.

“Schiff, when you can’t beat Nadler in a foot race you really need to get in shape.”

Evening!

My FIL was with Patton (11th?) on the famous end run to cut off the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge, IIRC.

Momto2

My dad served as a radio operator on the U.S.S. Samuel Chase in the Pacific and was under frequent attack in Okinawa. He was the first one to receive the news of the Japanese surrender on VJ day and was able to announce it to the entire ship. They were scheduled to go somewhere even more dangerous before the surrender and were instead sent on "Operation Magic Carpet" bringing troops home to San Diego. I have some great B&W photos he took during the war.

The Infamous Ignatz

Fixed Cruz link.

JM Hanes

That's so fantastic, MM. I would never in a million years have pictured Sekulow in a BAND! They're not bad. It's fun to watch him sort of wondering about all over the stage, looking almost as staid as he did in the Senate, but with a guitar. He plays the drums too! In passing I also learned that "Sekulow is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Supreme Court Historical Society in Washington, DC." Things just look worse and worse for Jenn Rubin.

Narciso

Kamikazi attack you mean, we can just imagine what a battle for the home islands might have been like.

Narciso

Yes shes run out of gloves for a facepalm

Yes hes in a tight spot, hes a more decent fellow than most although after 2007 he should have realized the game is rigged.

The Infamous Ignatz

--He wrote about a place they nicknamed "Stuka Alley" where you could hear the planes approaching everyday and then the distinctive sound of bombs whistling in.--

Might have been a siren. Stukas were fitted with a distinctive air operated siren that is what war movies usually use any time a plane dives. But it was fitted only to the Stukas as a means of terrorizing people on the ground.
The Stuka incidentally, despite its fearsome reputation was a primitive, slow, not very nimble and easily shot down plane when faced by any modern WW2 allied fighter. It was a ground attack plane that pretty much lost functionality without German air superiority.
Kinda like the the A-10 now.

Your dad no doubt was in Algeria earlier than my pop. They didn't move the B-17s and B-24s in until the places were secure. Occasionally a German plane strayed near enough to take a long range shot at them but Stukas and air combat were not a concern for his unit, in situ.

It's the only prudent thing to do.

I recall that during the outbreak of Ebola in Nigeria, I believe, Obama was bringing in people with the disease for treatment here. There were a couple of reported cases of it in Texas as well. I had no faith in the government at that time to do the right thing for the American people. None at all!

The Chinese unleashed this virus. It's their responsibility to shut it down. Moreover, there must be serious discussions with that government concerning repercussions for this 'research' that serves no purpose except as a biological weapon.

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

A man had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty. He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there. "No," the man replied, "The seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the first man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world and not use it?" The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first Super bowl we haven't been together since we got married in 1967." "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral." 😂

Past is Prologue

For Iggy and those whose Dads fought in Tunisia, Algeria, Sicily, Italy, I’ve just begun reading The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943–1944 by Rick Atkinson. Amazon says, "He excels at describing the furor of battle, and the Italian campaign provides him with abundant raw material.” It’s part of a trilogy that includes North Africa; maybe he would know about patches . . .

The Infamous Ignatz

--C’mon, that Biden thing was still being set up.--

I think the point was just a few days before the Ioway Cockuses they only set up about 50 chairs for the dope.

Captain Hate

I recall that during the outbreak of Ebola in Nigeria, I believe, Obama was bringing in people with the disease for treatment here. There were a couple of reported cases of it in Texas as well. I had no faith in the government at that time to do the right thing for the American people. None at all!

You recall correctly. I was sitting in stunned amazement that these public health experts were demanding that we be a giant Petri dish of every third world shithole's disease brought on by appalling sanitary and personal habits.

I wanted to kill every fucking one of them. And still do.

jim nj

https://syria.liveuamap.com/

It looks like the fighting has shifted 50-70 miles to the north in the last 10 days or so. Turkish observation posts set up after the prior ceasefire have been by-passed and surrounded.

The militants don't have much room left to collapse into so I expect the fighting from their side to get a lot more vicious.

I'm thinking Turkey is serious about moving its forces into the area to grab enough territory to shelter refugees in rather than have them cross into Turkey.

Another Bob

That’s typical retail Iowa caucus politics Ig. Small.

Over years, Iowa voters have almost come to expect a personal visit from each candidate.

Stupid, I know.

The Infamous Ignatz

Good point, AB.
Wonder if they filled them all.

Captain Hate

I’ve just begun reading The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943–1944 by Rick Atkinson. Amazon says, "He excels at describing the furor of battle, and the Italian campaign provides him with abundant raw material.”

I started reading the first volume when the war effort began in North Africa. He did a good job of describing what a lurching behemoth Saint Delano mismanaged on getting the military up to speed, including how many unnecessary deaths happened when ships capsized through sheer ineptitude off the North African Coast. Once things happened with some semblance of order on land, I think his narrative style started bugging me. Instead of a big picture historian view I got a crazy disjointed journalist pastiche of multiple viewpoints which irritated me more than it informed me. Too bad because there was a wealth of data screaming for an effective editor.

jim nj

CH,

I remember that too. I think it was a US medical professional, or maybe more than one, that volunteered to help in the Ebola outbreak and came down with the virus.

I wasn't too keen on that either.

Captain Hate

Over years, Iowa voters have almost come to expect a personal visit from each candidate.

Stupid, I know.

That state needs nuking as badly as Hawaii. Nothing illustrates how the Constitution has been subverted by the two dogshit parties as these worthless hayseeds demanding to go first. Fuck them yesterday, today and tomorrow.

JM Hanes

Thanks for The Dickies Stukas, Ignatz. I think. :-) Kind of woke me up.

Past is Prologue:

I've got "An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943" but it wasn't till I checked out "The Day of Battle..," per your post, that I realized it was part of a "Liberation Trilogy." The set consists of my book, your book, and "The Guns at Last Light: The War in Western Europe, 1944-1945." The first one is in my queue, so I can't say much about it either yet! I'm always pleased to find literature on that campaign, because there's not nearly as much of it as there is for D-Day and the Pacific.

Captain Hate

jim,

Volunteering to help is one thing, because that is selfless and noble in a very heroic way. No, they were demanding that the victims be brought here and Gaylord was encouraging it. It was the dumbest thing I'd seen since how they initially dealt with AIDS.

I'm getting too depressed. Nytol.

jim nj

Narciso,

I'm having trouble keeping up with the names of all the groups currently fighting in Syria.

CH,

Even with a good accounting of a land battle I need order of battle maps to refer to.

Captain Hate

CH,

Even with a good accounting of a land battle I need order of battle maps to refer to.

The books, at least the first volume, had very good maps. It was the narration that was terrible.

I lived in Cedar Rapids as a kid. Don't tell Captain Hate.

Mrs Hate has a lot of relatives in Iowa, most of which I like a lot. One of them in particular is a great guy, other than raving about having seen Arlo Guthrie in concert which is frankly unforgivable.

Utterly blind to reality.

Past is Prologue

CH, "I think his narrative style started bugging me” I have to agree with this, the little I’ve read. He did win a Pulitzer for one of the trilogy, so I’ll stick with it awhile.

JMH, Yes so much less written about these campaigns in the war. We were in Italy couple of years ago and made a detour to Anzio out of curiosity. Lovely seaside town where we came across a small memorial to the fallen, near the water’s edge… touching.
