Dem talking point in the works if not out already;
If only Trump hadn't killed that austere salami the plane wouldn't have been shot down.
Impeachable!

So if they were investigating the Silk Road thing, which was international, did Sharyl Atkinson [sp?] get FISAed also?

Willowed from the prior thread.

JMH "Well, that and his judicial appointments — which may also slow down the unraveling."

Judges are great, sure. But all of those he has gotten approved are a small percentage (under 168? out of 900) of all Federal Judgeships which means for every good ruling from a Trump judge, there are multiple paths for getting it reversed up the chain. And so far it is hard to tell if his SCOTUS judges to date can stand up to the pressure to unwind the Constitution.

That said, your words "may...slow down...the unraveling" is accurate. They will do that.

Mrs. Buckeye likes her new RX350, but it drives me crazy. Can't drive through at the bank or fast food joint without the "park assist" raising a racket. Turning it off requires diving 3 or 4 layers into some setup menu.

After a while I give him a polite toot, and what does he do? Shows me the MA state bird that's not a chickadee. There was nothing in Melinda's 12:29 that mentioned "warrantless surveillance". I agree with your overall point though. 2 of my 3 BILs have 4 post lifts in their garages. I can't use them because their primary purpose is to keep their $100K+ toys off the ground.

We still have our 2004 325i Cabrolet BMW. ONLY 30K miles on it. Promised to Frederick but he take it up to school. Only day kids can have a car there.

Same set of tires. Took it in for service a few weeks back. All it needed was oil change, new air and oil filter, a lube job, fluids check. $163.50.

The MB GL 450 is another matter since it is the workhorse and out of extended warranty. Local dealer wants $1,750 for 75K service. Gone thru 3 sets of breaks and 3 sets of tires but then I have driven back and forth from Southampton 4 Times.

Those Eco drive systems drove me nuts when they came out. Rental in Belgium. Instead of turning engine back on I was turning it off when stopped like at traffic lights. It was 12 y.o. Frederick who told me it was the Eco drive and to just hit the gas😊

henry

From a CATO fundraising email:

Since April of 2019, Cato’s Patrick Eddington has filed over 400 FOIA requests with the Department of Justice (DOJ) to try to determine the magnitude of FBI domestic surveillance activities that might be unconstitutional. In more than 20 cases, the DOJ invoked the “Glomar” response, refusing to either confirm or deny whether the FBI is collecting national security or intelligence records on specific domestic organizations.

In addition to Cato, organizations the FBI may have targeted include Kids in Need of Defense, the Transgender Law Center, the Reason Foundation, the Campaign for Liberty, and Restore the Fourth.

no accountability.

JM Hanes

Old Lurker:

It seems you've finally come round to my way of thinking! Almost from the start, I said the real problem here has been Congress who spent their time undercutting their own Prez and holding heaings instead of passing the transformative legislation we need to nail down advances that the President could only initiate by Executive Order. IIRC, you insisted that the President was responsible for the lack of progress, for not fulfilling his promises as quickly as you expected he should. I said we owe it to the Paul Ryan and Richard Burr Congress. I firmly believe we would actually have held onto the House, if the Republicans had started passing the legislation they'd been promising their voters so long if we would just give them the White House and the votes.

Of course, laws can be reversed too, but it's considerably harder to do than reversing EOs.

hrtshpdbox

CH, apropos of nothing except something I saw on the last thread, I was in the audience for this show:

Buckeye

KK,

The BIL that has a new C8 Corvette on the way, and some other pretty stuff on the lift has a 2001 Toyota Tundra as his daily driver.

It has north of 200K on the odometer. He decided to keep it when Toyota recalled it to replace the FRAME!

Seems they had a corrosion problem followed by a class action suit.

the Blame Trump brigade at werk:

Laurence Tribe
@tribelaw

Trump’s “flying in a tough neighborhood” & “it has nothing to do with us” were typical “who, me?” moves. Did it never occur to him that the plane filled with 176 souls would almost certainly never have been targeted by a trigger-happy Iranian missile but for the assassination?

Melinda

Tribe telegraphing war crimes should be added?

But of course!

Theo

Two schools of thought on Nancy sending the articles to the Senate : The first is that she does it next Wednesday so that the Dem Senators can go to the Iowa debate on Tuesday. The second is that she never sends them in order, I guess, prevent Trump from claiming exoneration or victory or whatever. The latter strategy also gives her the option of sending them over any time before the election if circumstances change.

jimmyk

Tulsi begging to be Salam-eed.

Still, gotta love that blue on blue action while it lasts.

I would go with a flush mounted scissor lift:

They make full height versions.

You can’t store another car under them is the only drawback that would bother me.

The Infamous Ignatz

I had a count down for it in the last thread too, henry.
It's not like 90% of the country wasn't already thinking it.

Theo

Henry — Just so. This was never about removing Trump — they don’t have 20 Republican Senators to go along and never will — it was always about election year politics. A Senate acquittal puts the impeachment business out of business but untendered articles keep the game sort of alive.

henry

when you've lost this guy...

CNBC Now @CNBCnow

BREAKING: Prime Minister Trudeau says Canada has intelligence from multiple sources that confirms Iran shot down the 737 jet that was heading for Ukraine, but it may have been unintentional

hrtshpdbox

Theo, impeachment will die a peaceful death the first Tuesday in November.

The Infamous Ignatz

Pretty cool, TK.
Looks about twice as much as a two poster but disappears.

Theo

Iggy should get props for predicting the “its Trump’s fault” reaction to the plane crash, but come to think of it, just what could go wrong in the world that this crowd would NOT blame him for? Fires in Australia? I think they have done that. A resurgent Al Qaeda attack in the US? Of course they would. Hell if he came up with a cure for cancer, MSNBC would wail for days about all the healthcare workers he caused to lose their jobs.

hrtshpdbox

Henry, didn't Trudeau add at the end, "Shame on you, Donald Trump, shame on you!" because, y'know, if he wasn't mean to Iran than Iran wouldn't have tried to be mean to us but mess it up and accidentally be mean to someone else?

JM Hanes

Hi Theo!

Well, Pelosi will either send them on or not send them, but I think there are a lot more schools of thought on why she might want to hold them back. The minute she does so, the Dems lose control of both the process and the issue so I don't think she'll pass them on until it finally becomes politically untenable within her own party to hold them any longer. I'd have thought that moment might already have arisen, but I underestimated her. She'a probably huddling with pols in backrooms all over the capitol, trying to suss out whether there's the tiniest drop of juice she can still extract from this lemon, before passing it along.

The Infamous Ignatz

The advantage of a four poster, I think, is installation. Two poster requires pretty deep footings to stabilize it. Four just bolts to floor.
I imagine the scissor lift is comparable to the two poster or perhaps worse, installation-wise.

Captain Hate

box,

I saw a Miles show in Chicago a couple years after that, on a bill with Jackie "Moms" Mabley in what must have been the oddest cobilling I've ever witnessed. The music was deafening.

The Infamous Ignatz

--Iggy should get props for predicting the “its Trump’s fault” reaction to the plane crash, but come to think of it, just what could go wrong in the world that this crowd would NOT blame him for?--

I was surprised no one here, or even more likely, progs everywhere weren't saying it before I did. You know they were thinking it.
