We seem to be in the late innings of the impeachment "drama". Per the NY Times:
Republicans are optimistic they will be able to wrap up President Trump’s impeachment trial without hearing from additional witnesses like the former national security adviser, John R. Bolton. But Democrats are hinting at a gambit to frustrate the Republicans’ plans, though Senator Chuck Schumer, the minority leader, has refused to tip his hand.
A gambit to stretch this out so the nation will ignore the Super Bowl, the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. Real Men of Genius are working on this. And Women! (No word on whom Warren envisions as Not-So-Free Speech Czar but I bet it'll be a doozy.)

Schiff has kind of covered himself in Schiff today. It's not a pretty sight.
But folks need to understand that, going back to at least 2010, Nancy Pelosi has thought of Schiff as her "best and brightest". When the Dems were contemplating a "town hall strategy" during the summer Congressional recess before ultimate passage of Obamacare, Schiff was sent out to try a town hall in his district. I attended that town hall. Schiff had lots of support---the SEIU had bussed in a crowd from all over Los Angeles. There were preprinted signs and banners. Schiff had lots of "experts" up on the stage with him. OTOH, there were lots of Tea Party folks in the audience.
Bottom line? Schiff couldn't pull it off. Pelosi figured that if Schiff couldn't get it done at a town hall, no one could get it done. They abandoned the town hall strategy.
Is history repeating itsef? The Schiffster, who couldn't get it done at an Obamacare town hall--might well be the pencil necked geek who couldn't shove impeachment over the line! Sorry Nancy.

Dr. J, I only get to read JOM in fits and starts, so I don't know if anyone gave you suggestions about music streaming services that have good classical suggestions. In case they didn't, I copied an editorial from The Absolute Sound (February 2020 issue) about what's going on in that world, planning to paste it here. But that didn't work. Bottom line, Tidal and Qobuz offer a lot of CD-level and higher quality streaming music, and Amazon has said that it will start doing the same. Apple Music and Spotify have so far stuck with the less good "lossy" formats. Hope this helps.

ENRDRV,
I have read The Absolute Sound on streaming, and many others have become excited by Idagio. I wondered if anyone had any experience with them.
FWIW, I don't think much of The Absolute Sound, particularly after Pearson gave up magazine control. I'm too much of an engineer to trust anything they say, since they too often just get basic things wrong.
Unfortunately it seems that one needs a manager to deal with the awful streaming interfaces, with Roon being the most popular. It does other things too, but I have other means to deal with that.
Once I get things settled down here (don't ask) I'll give some of these a try. I'm not quite ready for that yet.

In Austin, John Bolton voices support for officials called in impeachment hearing | KXAN.com
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Speaking at a private event in Austin Thursday, Former National Security Advisor John Bolton defended government officials who testified in front of the U.S. House impeachment inquiry.
The United States Senate could soon decide whether to call Bolton to testify himself in the President’s impeachment trial.
Sources tell KXAN Bolton defended former diplomatic and state department officials Fiona Hill, Tim Morrison, Alex Vindman, Bill Taylor, and Marie Yovanovitch.
“All of them acted in the best interest of the country as they saw it and consistent to what they thought our policies were,” said Bolton, during the question-and-answer time after his keynote speech.
He went on to say members of the Trump Administration should “feel they’re able to speak their minds without retribution.”
“The idea that somehow testifying to what you think is true is destructive to the system of government we have — I think, is very nearly the reverse — the exact reverse of the truth,” said Bolton.

It sounds like the Republican Senators have determined that Senator Collins has the most to lose by opposing more witnesses and documents. She gets the opportunity to vote for additional witness testimony thereby appeasing her constituents. If Senator McConnell can hold the remaining Republican Senators together, then I'm okay with this deal.
The democrats seem to have played their last card. Outside of John Bolton running screaming into the Senate Chambers demanding to be heard, I'd say this charade is over.

Romney's vote for more witnesses is pure pettiness. In his question posted by MomTo2 above, he asks if there is any evidence to show that President Trump directed anyone to tell the Ukrainians that security assistance was being held on condition of an investigation into the Bidens.
I don't recall the House Managers putting this particular spin on the matter, nor have they entered any evidence to that effect. So where is this coming from?
There is the possibility that this is what John Bolton will claim, but given his open disagreements with the President, the history of his contrary nature while at the White House and his ultimate termination, his testimony at this point should have little weight.
