Why is Adam Schiff appearing anywhere near a camera or microphone to discuss his "investigation"? This is the guy who couldn't find anything wrong with the FBI FISA application to surveil Carter Page. That FBI bellyflop was back in the news today, but let me hand the mic to Matt Taibbi in the Rolling Stone with his thoughts on the Horowitz report and the media meltdown.

peter,
I hope you realize I was teasing you in a loving manner. It was a very special night to me and your being there was part of it.
Back to construction.
Sub-contractors sometimes inadvertently under-bid a contract. They get into it and realize they are going to lose money completing the job. The only way to break even or turn a profit is to focus on "change orders." A "change order" is a negotiation. You point out that the specs are wrong about something and the correct way is not do "this" but "that." So the price has to change. Do that enough and your contract is cancelled. Even if you're correct. Those unexpected changes should have been built into your bid.
If the architect or engineers were wrong you're golden. You get the "change order" and a pat on the back.
Another problem in building contracts is that you believe you have the expertise to accomplish the job. Then you realize you don't, and other people have noticed, and you're fired. Somebody else comes in to replace your contract.
When you think of Trump and wonder whether it's Sun-Tzu, or game theory, at least some of it is pure Darwinian.
Well-managed, competent construction firms thrive. The others, not so much. They file lawsuits that they lose and still complain that they didn't get paid.
So, if somebody says that Trump stiffed them on a construction contract, it could well be true, but there is a court record somewhere showing why.

Absolutely stunning to see Washington Democrats on the Senate Floor today not only peddling flimsy allegations regarding Ukraine, but rehashing outlandish conspiracy theories about the President of the United States acting as a Russian agent.

Past my bedtime, but, yes, that money confiscation thing, without an underlying criminal charge is bogus.
However, she f@cked up, she should have brought the money to a local bank, told her story and gotten a cashier's check. Or opened a joint account there.
Maybe I'm missing something, but if she wanted her father to have some control over the money, how did she expect to open an account with his signature on it? When he isn't there? I think that may have been what tripped her up while trying to explain herself.
Me, as an agent, so you conned your father out of his money and you want to deposit it in your own account.

I think that may have been what tripped her up while trying to explain herself.
But the central point - the ONLY point - is that, as a free citizen, she doesn’t have to explain herself.

James D,
Realistically you should be able to carry as much money as you want in the US. There is no border issue involved.
"But the central point - the ONLY point - is that, as a free citizen, she doesn’t have to explain herself."
Can't argue with that.

Agree completely. Which is what opens the door for me to the whole story being BS, and maybe she was robbing him.
But the solution is for TSA to call in the story and her details to the local police. Not pocket the money.
I’ve wondered if there’s some percentage in it for the Fed agents. Are there promotions, raises, bonuses conditioned at least in part on the amount of cash and other property seized?

As for the discussion about interest-based communities, much of what Porch detailed as the old way of connecting is much more challenging when you have a two-income family trying to juggle everything. Something has to go.

Oh, my gosh, I woke up late -- husband already watching tv, which aggravated me. Commercials. They make me irritated anyway, but, over the past months, every commercial features the United Nations in race, color, mixed colors, ethnicity, gays, hip hop ?artists?, LGBTQ, plus white fathers with black children, black mothers & three children--mixed, black, and white, then gay married couples who kiss as they buy insurance. The thing I don't understand!! Where are the Native Americans? Japanese? Chinese? Vietnamese? Hmong? They make sure there are Muslims in their commercials. So, what about the Buddhists? Voodoo?
I'm sick of it. They're cramming inclusivity, equality, access, Equity and access down my throat and I. Don't. Like. It.
:)
Who writes commercial guidelines? I know it isn't the Baptists -- cause they start off singing red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight....

Actually, I started to post something else but glanced up for a moment and saw a string of commercials -- that was enough to start the day wrong, then I read that Schiff is calling on Justice John Roberts to rule expeditiously. Honestly? The first thing I read is what Adam Schiff wants?!
Because we all know, how Roberts will rule on anything the Democrats desperately need and want. grrrrrrrr!

Let me be clearer about Schiff’s testimony yesterday. First of aa I never concentrated on what he was spouting about, frankly because it was so far from reality, it was not understandable. He was telling a story so far removed from the facts that he might as well have been talking about something going on in Uruguay.
What blew my mind was how good his style was since I’ve never seen him good at anything - even lying.
For sure he was a joke, and a lying asshole, but quite lyrical about it.

Exactly. This was at worst a local police blotter item and for the feds to get involved in doing anything other than turning it over to them is wildly inappropriate. And very derp state-ish.

CH, when Jr. was knee deep in the cancer research, he took me on a tour of a new facility on campus dedicated to that activity.
Big new tower, maybe 10 floors, maybe half a dozen labs per floor. There are about 5 similar buildings beside each other adjacent to the hospital.
Thing that struck me on the tour was that most of the chatter I heard was in Chinese, not English.

Buckeye,
Back maybe 25 years ago, I took an evening job packing clothing for shipment from a catalogue company here in town. They had a tailoring department to hem pants, skirts, shorten sleeves, etc. before shipment. Probably 20 tailors.
ALL WERE CHINESE!
This bothered me a lot. The reason is that Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals is in town, not that far from the facility, and as far as I knew at the time, it wasn't THAT easy to get out of China if you were a simple tailor. Seemed to me it was a way to set up a swipe and ship connection. None of the Chinese spoke English.
A long time ago I read a novel in which the Chinese method of spying was described as "A Thousand Grains of Sand," meaning that agents would steal just a portion of a mechanism, formula, weapon, plan, etc. and then it would be assembled back in China. I never could get that out of my mind.
