Posted on the other thread in support of Clarice's point:

OK, it is Fox:

And yet as his impeachment trial begins, Trump’s job approval holds steady, while half say the Senate should remove him from office."

Carried over from the last thread: A business executive running for President produces irrational alarm and Lake thinks that's ok?

I don't know if he thinks it's ok, but my objection is that he seems to accept the premise that they were alarmed on behalf of the country, as opposed to on behalf of their own careers and self-interest. Even saying it was "irrational" is giving them too much credit.

Notre Dame and the Reparations Virus

Once upon a time, school administrators would shut down this nonsense and send the kids to bed.  Again, the kids are running the schools, and that's not good for learning." Sylvio Canto, Jr. Canto

School administrators are part of the nonsense. Tenured faculty and trustees even moreso.

It's Swamp Draining 101. It's hard work. And, there is, obviously, much more work to be done.
Our enemies "on campus" are following the same formula as the Open Borders crowd.

So long as educational institutions subsidize student activities, which have been organized around contemporary political issues, and award academic "credits" for student involvement in such issues (what i learned while advocating for reparations, etc.) these poser militancy charades will add to the national movements' traction.

So this where amins, faculty, and trustees ALLOW segue for students to mimic the Greta Cartoonbergs, the AOMonkeyCs, and BernieBros with instant press recognition. Not going to make the same splash if the "speak out" were held off-campus in some South Bend stinkhole coffeehouse.

Student fees being used for political organizing and for lobbying trustees doesnt pass the smell test.

Shutting it or shouting it down doesn't work. Reagan calling out the tanks during the Berkeley riots dispersed the crowds but didnt stop the movement. Troops firing on students at Kent State had viral effects on radicalization.

When i was a staff professional on campuses where political wars were being waged (culture wars is a misnomer) through 2 decades, admin buildings were burned or taken over with little consequence for the perps. What dispersed the power of the radical student organizers was depriving them of access to cash being used to rent facilities, pay celebrity speakers, pay for printing costs and publicity, food and other inputs needed to host a campus wide event. Even now, with many overhead expenses evaporating b/c of social media, facilities rental, security, food, speaking fees, travel and other line items still require cash.

Lefties are good at shutting down conservative events but have carte blanche to promote and host their own. Who gets legitimate access to resources? Who has primacy in setting the tone for political legitimacy in the sheep's clothing of "academic freedom?"

Controlling cash flow will set in motion a disruptive force against radical political spectacles. Exposing incoming pipelines from SOROS,Inc. and other sources of financing is also necessary.

There is another crucial "currency" disruption:the executive corps at these institutions governing compensation and advancement can legitimize witholding any recognition or in kind support of administrator, faculty, and staff claims of "university service" when engaged in political organizing, "advocacy", and lobbying for a cause.

MissMarple2

Kev,

I wonder how many states have already had their deadlines pass for enrolling in their presidential primaries? I think a lot of democrats are hoping someone more glamorous and exciting will appear. I think it's becoming increasingly unlikely.

So, on one side we have the Blue Collar Billionaire with the glamorous fashion model First Lady and an attractive set of children and grandchildren, one who has kept his promises, given us a gangbusters economy through his policies, and is brave enough to stand IN PERSON on the platform at the March for Life.

On the other side we have unattractive people, those who want to wreck the economy for their own counter-productive policies, and who don't even realize how expensive those policies are. I doubt Sanders can last an entire campaign given his health. Try to imagine Elizabeth Warren dealing with Putin or Xi. Mayor Pete will not get minority votes nor those of evangelicals. If the radicals show up in Milwaukee and riot, it will have the same effect as the Chicago riots did.

I think things are looking more positive for the President every day.

In other news:
Restaurants empty.
Gov’t workers told to cancel holiday and come back to work.
New movies released to hit the holiday season showing in near-empty theaters.
Small companies in danger of bankruptcy due to the dislocation.
Mass cancellations of train, bus, plane reservations. Transport companies directed to give full refunds.
Streets empty, even family gatherings canceled, people inventorying pantries to gauge if they can get by cooking at home without going out grocery shopping.

They want a parliamentary system out of power, a plebiscite in power.

I wonder if they realize that by doing that they will make it less likely that voters will put in a majority of the opposing power in either house of Congress. Till now, the midterm elections often resulted in divided government, which was seen as benign. But most people don't want the President treated like Trump has been, even if it ends up backfiring on the Dems.

It's a bit like the people who want to scrap the Electoral College, as if the results would have been the same under a popular vote system. The only reason Hillary won the popular vote was because it didn't matter.

One thing I would dearly love to see: White House lawyers put up a defense that describes in detail the corruption that was going on in the Ukraine, from Bidens influence peddling, to the ambassador's do not prosecute list, to the $5.3 billion misused aid, with witnesses to follow. Force the Dems to vote against witnesses when the time comes. Wouldn't that be sweet.

They give you a short clip out of a nearly hour video with no context into what preceded it. The other woman on there was lumping sex trafficking in with MeToo which imo is a huge stretch and precludes any intelligent discussion of either. So I don't know what to make of Cindy's, of whom I'm not a fan but deserves a fair hearing, statements and neither do the commenters.

Robin, eff 'em all

NPR has jumped to Kelly's defense, claiming that she has emails with a SoS aide named Katie Martin that prove that she was going to ask about Ukraine. I'm looking forward to what else they say. I said to my friend, oh I'm sure they'll release them and then we'll know what happened. She said, and three other people (FB) chimed in, "Pompeo has to prove his claim that she lied."

Nope, journalism has more of a credibility problem than Pompeo. They can prove he's wrong. #showustheemails. hahahaha

Captain Hate,

I think it is important to ask WHY, all of a sudden, we are seeing arrests of pedophiles and child pornographers all over the country.

Why wasn't this a priority before now?

Now, maybe a lot of these investigations were underway for the last year or two. We certainly didn't get much of it during the Obama years. Why is that?

Now, it could be that Epstein and a few others entrapped a lot of people into underage sex and blackmailed them.

Or, it could be that there is a lot of money to be made in trafficking and child porn, which went into illicit campaign donations or supplementing income.

Or, it could be that there are far more people involved in this than I realized.

Or, maybe all 3 of these paths are involved. I don't know.

What happened to all of those kids that went missing from Haiti that were never located? How many kids who cross the southern border weren't brought along as props for immigration purposes but were sold into sexual slavery? What about the numbers of kids who are abused from foster homes, or camps, or other organizations?

Cindi McCain has worked on this cause for several years. To me, for her to casually throw out that "We all knew what Epstein was up to" is simply unacceptable. If she didn't know what he was like before, then she at LEAST should have been aware after his first arrest, or at least his second one, and should have chosen her words more carefully.
