Three of five Katyusha rockets reportedly hit the embassy dining room and caused a fire on the scene. So far, no deaths have been reported, but there do seem to be injuries. This is the first time that rocket fire hit the embassy directly. This crosses a Trump red line.

Trump Tied Ukraine Aid to Inquiries He Sought, Bolton Book Says
WASHINGTON — President Trump told his national security adviser in August that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by the former adviser, John R. Bolton.
The president’s statement as described by Mr. Bolton could undercut a key element of his impeachment defense: that the holdup in aid was separate from Mr. Trump’s requests that Ukraine announce investigations into his perceived enemies, including former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son Hunter Biden, who had worked for a Ukrainian energy firm while his father was in office.
"Also on board the helicopter was Orange Coast College head baseball coach John Altobelli. His wife Keri and daughter Alyssa also were among the crash victims, Altobelli’s brother Tony, Orange Coast College’s sports information director, told CNN.
The identities of four other victims will not be announced until their families have been officially notified, said Sheriff Alex Villanueva, at an afternoon news conference."
Sarah Tinsley, an adviser to Bolton, told me: "The ambassador's manuscript was transmitted to the White House for pre-publication review by the NSC. The ambassador has not passed the draft manuscript to anyone else. Period." Story TK
================================
Swan is a reporter for Axios.
So, we have a leaker in NSC OR the NYT is making crap up again. And if there is a leaker, Bolton may have been setting a trap.
Call it a tale of two girls. And a tale of two Englands.
One is an actress who grew up to marry a prince, lavished with luxuries, amassing a fortune, before her tantrums and antics drove her to depart her newfound royal family for a Canadian billionaire’s manor.
The other was put into foster care when she was only 8, by the age of 13 she was being raped by a Muslim sex grooming gang, and by 15, Victoria Agoglia was already dead of a heroin overdose injected by the 50-year-old Muslim pedophile who had been abusing her...
...Muslim sex grooming gangs, like drugs or prostitution, are too widespread to be enforced out of existence because, like college students and pot, the culture doesn’t accept that they are wrong.
The police did nothing because these were not isolated crimes by criminals, but clashes of morals and values between two communities, one of which does not believe that child rape is wrong because its sacred texts tell it that Mohammed married Aisha and consummated his marriage when she was 9.
There are nearly 2 million child marriages in Pakistan. The notion that a woman’s consent to sexual relations matters is an utterly foreign concept in a culture where unaccompanied women are fair game.
The child rapists did not believe that their actions were wrong under Islamic law. And they weren’t.
The Manchester City Council and the GMP just accepted this reality as they have accepted it so often. They buried the minutes, shut down the investigation, and walked away from the screams of the girls.
They did it for multiculturalism, integration, and community relations. They did it for social justice.
We know that no real action was taken because the girls were troubled. They didn’t matter. And their bodies and lives could be sacrificed for the greater good.
The real tragedy is not that the rapists didn’t understand it was wrong. It’s that the UK no longer does.
As the media moans over Meghan Markle, sob stories rolling in of the injustice of tabloid headlines and the prejudice of the Brits, it is worth remembering those nameless girls who were sacrificed to progress.

Pete Buttigieg starts off his Fox News town hall being asked about Kobe Bryant and talking about people being inspired by what Kobe did "on the field and off the field"
=========================================
"On the field and off the field." Of such slip-ups are election losses made.
Pete Buttigieg backs position of Democrat Party to exclude pro-life voters. There's no room in their big tent for anyone who doesn't believe in taxpayer-funded abortion up to the moment of birth. Pete is not a moderate - he's radical! pic.twitter.com/uSzAZIUeiD
Shem Horne on Twitter: "The New York Times also makes a point in saying that Bolton is worried that people will think he's just trying to sell books. Uh, yeah, lol. Funny that they are trying to cover for him. https://t.co/NOgxW4QW8I" / Twitter
Today's events are breaking my heart. I can't say that I knew Kobe but we used to sit together at church. He and the family always sat in the back and I was the rear corner guy (usher), so me and my family sat in the next to last row and he and his sat in the back row. Part of the job was to ensure a safe exit.
I remember him going to Mass when he was in the midst of his crisis, alone. I remember hearing that Vanessa got a massive ring out of it and smiling when they came back to church as a family. I remember his beautiful daughters.
He and I had something in common which he got a kick out of. I got myself kicked out of my prep school. I was a rebel. I ended up having a goof year at Lower Merion because I had basically completed all of the state prescribed courses by the end of my Junior year. Aced German and Latin.
So I ran XC and played lacrosse and smoked cigs and goofed off. Not an exemplar. But he laughed when we talked the few times we did.
We were all very proud to have him and the family as parishioners. They moved just before he retired, but even this evening as I was leaving Mass, cars were filing into the parking lot for a prayer service.
The news has devastated a lot of people around us.
Matt, Narc, call me cold hearted, but I just can’t work up the kind of emotion that some have over Kobe. I do have the ordinary human sense of regret that a man died before he should have, especially leaving unraised children. But seeing sports “journalists” reduced to tears over this seems over the top.
I felt the same about a family friend who was distraught for weeks when Elvis died. I couldn’t relate to that at all.

Yes, just noticed my error--Senator Warner, not Warren.

I’m waiting for this at the Grammy’s. It’s coming. The lifetime achievement award to John Prine (actually it’s Pruyn, but that’s inside baseball).

I was grasping at straws but yes, he was only 38.

Wonderful story, Matt.
Mel, Prine is one of my faves. Saw him a time or two over the years. Jesus, the missing years, always gets me smiling.
