I'm not seriously expected to watch this, am I?
However, I am curious whether Chief Justice Roberts would endorse this view about Senate trials and super-subpoenas:
“With the backing of a subpoena authorized by the chief justice of the United States, you can end President Trump’s obstruction,” said Representative Zoe Lofgren of California, the first woman in history to speak on the Senate floor as an impeachment manager.
Awkward, since the role of the chief justice has been presented as ceremonial. If Roberts rules the motion for a subpoena to be in order does that mean that, if an executive privilege claim reaches the Supreme Court he has already taken a position?
Or... does it mean that the subpoena applies to a person but does not automatically over-ride all privilege claims? For example, suppose Rudy Giuliani is a subpoenaed Senate witness. I presume he could answer some questions, cite attorney-client on some, and perhaps his Fifth Amendment non-incrimination right on others. That would represent compliance with the subpoena, unless the Senate wanted to take his privilege claims to court and get a ruing that he is in contempt of the Senate for failing to answer some questions. I think.
I am highly confident that CJ Roberts does not intend to get sucked into this foodfight.
BONUS FANTASY: If there is a merciful G*d in Heaven, or if the showrunners and scriptwriters have some character, we will have a moment where Rudy is asked by one of the House managers if he is trying to show contempt for Congress. PLEASE, let Rudy channel his inner Mae West and reply, "Sir, I'm trying to hide it."
I should live so long.

In 2005, senior officers of the Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council members attended a meeting at Manchester Town Hall and announced the shutdown of the investigation.
Maybe relatives of some of the victims ought to look up the home addresses of those "senior officers", smash their way into their homes, drag them out, and hang them from the nearest lamppost.
Or just burn the houses down while the "senior officers" are inside.
And in this case, it's not my usual hyperbole. People who sat on their hands while thousands of children under their protection were raped and murdered, deserve to die.

Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff’s impeachment Witch Hunt against America First has made its way to the Senate and the trial to officially remove President Trump from office is now underway.
Democrats have embarrassed themselves with their shameful, partisan behavior and it’s up to us to respond by embarrassing the heck out of them and ending this impeachment SCAM once and for all.

NYC players get overrated, for sure, but so do Chicago players. Leave aside the Harold Baines travesty, Ryne Sandberg was a 1st ballot HOFer, while Lou Whitaker, with very similar career numbers, can't even buy a ticket to get in.

Rocco, very interesting baseball tidbit. I did not know that about Phil Nevin, in fact, I had to think for a minute to remember who Phil is. He's a very good third-base coach, very old school. In fact, he's the only Yankee coach who gives the players what they occasionally need, which is a good old dressing down. Aaron Boone is way too laid back.

Interesting story about Newhouser, himself a HOFer. He was a native Detroiter and spent most of his career there, but per Wiki, could have been an Indian:
He did end up with the Indians at the end of his career, including the 1954 AL champion season.

Interesting perspective.
In short, Google’s “common feast” position is incompatible with intellectual property rights. Much like the tragedy of the commons thought experiment, the “common feast” approach to IP would rob any incentive for innovators to produce. As a result of Google’s perspective, software code that could benefit the public domain could lose its intellectual property protections. But those protections are the very reason innovation occurs in the first place. Without security against IP theft, progression would slow to a halt, and ironically, the public would suffer as a result.

As one of the executive producers of the last Mad Max movie, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin might have been interested in the apocalyptic climate warnings of Greta Thunberg.
Instead, he took a personal swipe at the 17-year-old, saying she was in no position to give advice on climate change because she hasn't been to college yet.
At a press briefing at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss town of Davos, Mnuchin dismissed Thunberg's suggestion that governments and companies need to cut back dramatically on their use of fossil fuels.
When asked how that would affect the U.S. economic model, Mnuchin was swift and condescending in his response.
"Is she the chief economist? Who is she? I'm confused," he said. Then following a brief pause, he said it was "a joke."

Someone last night posted an article about that old actor named Robert Redford, who was once in a western or something, and maybe some dumb movie about politics. The article must have been one of those "whatever happened to so-and-so" things; I didn't spend much time looking at it, just saw the first picture (below). Apparently, this old guy Redford, who once lived in a park barefoot with fellow commie Jane Fonda, must not be able to afford an apartment in Hollywood or whatever, so now has just thrown an old rug or two on the ground under the beams of some abandoned shack. Poor guy should've gone into a real trade.

UPDATE: Greta Thunberg has responded to Mnuchin's comments.
The 17-year-old said "it doesn't take a college degree in economics" to understand that ongoing fossil fuel subsidies and investments and our remaning carbon budget "don't add up."

James D, I have to admit that, to this day, I still can't not watch Barefoot in the Park if it's on; Redford and Fonda are both terrific (and so is Charles Boyer), and it's probably Neil Simon's best work. When that film is on I'm somehow able to put aside their later transgressions. Still, I don't think I'll ever watch another DeNiro movie.

Many years ago on a board I used to hang out on, Progtards, who routinely displayed their contempt for the country, would engage in virtue signaling and condemn the CIA for waterboarding Al Qaeda terrorists. Maybe it's just me but Redford always struck me as the most wooden, 'obviously-acting' major star of my lifetime.
I can't remember a scene where it didn't look like he just stepped out of his dressing room having studiously practiced all the faces and serious sounding intonations he was using.
I'll admit Peter Fonda gave him a run for his money.
