At the moment of decision the NY Times editors boldly endorse not one but TWO Democrats for President.
OK, who cares? In 2008 the Times editors backed their hometown honey Hillary over the young Barack Obama, which alienated a big part of their newsroom. In 2016 they may have experienced a similar dynamic by backing Hillary over the darling of young socialists everywhere, Bernie. So in this moment of tension and fraught decision making the Times sends out the punting team on third and long.
JMH, and of those 4,095, after excluding those he filed, you have <2000 remaining. Figure out how many were related to all the casino related BK activities he went through in that dark time and subtract those as well (BK generates so many suits in all directions they are too numerous to count). Then "involved in" can mean he was the sole defendant in some action really going after him for something he was said to have done, but it also means he was simply one of a couple of dozen owners named in some dispute - so common in RE Development and management. Then divide what's left by the number of projects over 30 years and by the real dollar amounts involved and this can become a nothing-burger real fast.

Interesting factoid from the listing: "About 1,600 cases involve suits against gamblers who had credit at Trump-connected casinos and failed to pay their debts. "

JMH also every delinquent Tenant in a store, office or apartment will get sued for back rent and eviction, and almost all of those result in a countersuit to muddy the waters.
Nothing Burger.

Thanks! That's really helpful. It looks like there's a lot of stuff like that in the total. I knew that construction litigation was its own legal specialty, but I hadn't thought about real estate management as well, and didn't know about the bankruptcy ripple effect or the multiple owners/defendants suits.
I really want to push back on the lawsuits because it's part of the standard liberal case against Trump. That and the kids in cages at the border and the supposed racist comments in Charlottesville.

Jane —
How the Senate Democrats vote on impeachment will have nothing to do with the strength of the evidence or the good of the country. It will be all about what is in that Senators political interest.
Given that, I don’t see ten Dems voting against impeachment. The ones from blue states will have no incentive to vote against. Even those in more purple states will figure that voting no will alienate the activist base and the national donors (and possibly lead to them being primaried) without picking up any appreciable number of votes from Trump supporters who will vote for a Republican for Senate anyway.
Joe Manchin can vote however he wants. Doug Jones is dead meat either way but I think will vote to remove to try to get a job in DC after he is defeated in the fall. Jon Tester MIGHT vote to acquit but he does not have to run again until 2024 so probably won’t make waves with the party.
We shall see. But I think 10 Democrats is too optimistic. I think 0-2 is more likely.

Theo, at the risk of sounding pedantic, it's conviction, not impeachment. I agree ten is unlikely given what happened in the House. But Kirsten Sinema might vote against conviction as well as Manchin and a couple others that have been mentioned.

You are right about impeachment/conviction. Thanks for the correction.
I think we are in basic agreement. Maybe Manchin and maybe, just maybe, a couple of others. I don’t see it getting close to ten. There really is no incentive for any Dems to stick their necks out. I don’t see the political advantage to them in voting to acquit.
We shall see.

Good evening. This is all over the New England media,it will go national for sure.
A man in NH strangled a coyote to death today when the animal attacked his two year old son. Ian O'Reilly told WCVB Boston that his family was walking on the Philips Exeter trail when the coyote bit at the child's jacket. O'Reilly put his full weight on the coyote, put it in a scissor lock and pushed the snout into the snow. It took ten minutes for the coyote to expire. O'Reilly was bitten and is being treated for rabies. Earlier in the day,a woman walking her dogs was attacked by the same coyote. Both she and her dogs are being treated.

Biden memo attacking Schweizer was co-authored by campaign staffer Tony Blinken. Hunter Biden has numerous contacts with Blinken who was at State Dept. while Hunter was on Burisma board. Did Blinken help Hunter with Burisma issues? If so, seems like a pretty substantial conflict.

Yes jimmyk, the Bangor paper has the coyote story and also put up the raccoon story as a reminder. :)
The area of the coyote attacks is a suburban area,so the coyote was very brazen. I was reminded of the explosive growth of southern NH when I was there last week. It has changed so much. The coyote is being tested for rabies at Fish and Game in Concord.

--Well, there are questions about that growth. And what makes it “remarkable”?--
There are questions about whether the growth is sustainable but there is no question they went from approximately zero cars produced in 2011-12 to close to 400,000 built and sold in 2019. That alone seems pretty remarkable to me. Who else has done that from scratch lately. Some titanic Korean industrial kaijus have launched conventional lines of cars from a gigantic industrial base. Tesla itself was formed when giant GM couldn't sell its first EV to save its life and pulled them off the market. Tesla has rolled out a successful EV when the big boys couldn't and they did it from a base of zero.
At the same time they rolled out a relatively expansive supercharger system.
Musk is a flake and conman and green subsidies are awful, unconstitutional messes and it may yet fail. But those problems shouldn't obscure that Tesla is probably the most remarkable automotive manufacturing story since the rise of Japan 50+ years ago.
