Bernie stepped in it big time with his Castro remarks. It will hurt him in most primaries. The question is how much it will hurt him. I had him figured to beat Biden in SC until the Castro stuff came out.
About that cop shooting in Chicago, the station it took place in is one of the two that are used for most of the “on Tourist” crimes are sourced. Since the new drug permissive laws have been passed here, plus a slew of anti-police shootings under Rahm police are more than a little reluctant to approach the obviously cranked on PCP CTA riders and get caught with another Laquan Macdonald Event, manufactured into an “event” by the local “woke” media types that iBama trained under.
Some may recall a video of a white man getting a beat down by two AA youth which only ended when said white male drew his concealed carry, held fire, and the two “yutes” ran off. That occurred at the McD’s at the top of the stairs of the CTA stop just one station north of the above shooting. These two stations are the source and escape routes for 95% of the Michigan Ave “Snatch & Grab” crimes, especially the school holiday timed “youth swarm” shop storming, where 30-40 kids will storm a store and clear the racks. Under Rahm, arrests were discouraged. Not long after, the conceal carry video was filmed.
Mayor Lightfoot may have a different approach coming, but Juicy Smollett (thank you Dave Chappelle for that name) was the perfect opportunity to tie her hands by her losing opponent. This fight is ongoing and that dirt will see the light of day, eventually, probably after the April elections, here.
New York may have bad bail issues making things worse, now, but they were tested here for years, as unwritten policy, first.

Get used to it until the Prog Movement is dead and buried. Getting Winston to accept blatant untruths as truth is a prime objective of 1984. The dumber people are, and the more emotionally WOKE they are, the easier that is for the left to accomplish.
I 100% agree with you that the best thing in November would be a choice between DJT and Bernie. Capitalism versus communism; let's get it on. If you're looking for the biggest reason the Overton window keeps moving to the left, look no further than GOP Top Men trying to blur the differences between choices seeking that illusionary "middle". The last time there was a real ideological choice (Trump was still an unknown ideologically in 2016) Reagan won in a landslide yet Top Men learned nothing from that.
"I have had just about enough of liars Pelosi and Schumer."
They're pretty shameless. From the Russia email joke, to the very-fine-people hoax and now the virus hoax hoax, their leaders and troops are more than willing to repeat clear, provable lies without even a hint of embarrassment.
Cap'n, you have been dead right since the get-go that GOPe Top Men are the problem. Looking back to 1980 at least, they have been perfectly trained Judas Goats, and they have led GOP leaning sheep right to the door of the slaughter house.
Far as I am concerned, there is nothing good about "the middle" anymore. Wake up. Study the two choices (Communism v Capitalism constrained by a functioning Constitution). Make a choice. If you can't decide, sit down and shut up.
What GOPe Top Men learned from the Reagan landslide was that they needed to improve the camouflage lest they be fired from their jobs as Judas Goats. Worked well for them until Trump called them out.
Exactly, OL. I kept sitting and wondering "why do they keep avoiding what gave them landslides?" The answer was clear all along and I just refused to acknowledge it.

A group of students at the University of Albany are demanding that a coronavirus-themed party — featuring buckets of Corona beers and partygoers in surgical masks — be treated as a “hate crime.”
The controversy started when the Twitter account @BarstoolAlbany (which, by the way, is not officially affiliated with Barstool Sports) posted a now-deleted video of the off-campus party with the caption: “Corona virus isn’t gonna stop anyone from partying.”
WGY News Radio, a local station, also reported that a quick, “if you blink, you miss it” shot in the video seems to show “a white sheet with the word virus and two faces.”
The outlet’s report states:
One has the letter X over each eye and looks like a sick face. The other is a frown, with what looks like straight lines for eyes. Is it supposed to be an Asian person with the virus? It certainly looks like it could be.
In response, the school’s Asian American Alliance issued a statement on Instagram, demanding that the university “investigate this illegal student group and related UAlbany students, requiring them to delete this video and to apologize on their Instagram homepage.”

Wilson, TR and FDR sowed the seeds of the whirlwind.
The significance of 1980, starting the book in the middle, is that the WWII-Depression generation was alive and kicking and even the Democrats had to be careful about trashing the country and the Constitution. Friend texts me that they are going to get to the rallies eventually.

President at news conference on offense wrt coronavirus.
A good move.
Bolton making snarky comments saying taliban deal is like an Obsma deal.
At this rate they are going to tie his book up in review until President Trump is out of office in 5 years.

“investigate this illegal student group and related UAlbany students, requiring them to get training to help them retain a ‘sense of humor’”

anonymom was asking about Notre Dame and their Rome programs -- they pulled the plug yesterday:
WonderGirl rebuilt the first 3 days of their tour to be by bus from Frankfurt to Ljubljana with stops in Munich, Nuremberg & Salzburg. Their tour company even got them singing gigs -- on ten days of notice! (A shout out to Peter's Way Tours!)It all depends upon the steepness of that exponential for the spread of the virus...

Neo:
I just said the same thing to my husband.
Get a sense of humor and stop narcing out people.
Cathy:
My grandmother was born in Ljubljana and a friend who visited said it was a lovely place.

Friend is worried about going to Italy, and on top of that her son made the reservations for them and he lives in Mallorca, so she doesn't know if they will get refunds.
Interestingly, President Trump said they would be doing these press conferences quite often. (Said that at the very end.)

I wouldn’t travel to these countries until the situation stabilizes.

Tell them in Salzburg they can see the cathedral where the Sound if Music had the wedding and the garden where they sang DoReMi.

Imperious ketonomom with one of her patients, and an Oxford comma joke to boot. :P

I'm still scheduled to go to Rome mid-April. Waiting to hear whether the conference is canceled or postponed.
I've Mel twice in the Windy City. Sorry I will miss him this coming week, but anyone in the area should grab the opportunity.
Posted by: jimmyk | February 29, 2020 at 03:03 PM
I've *met* Mel (sigh)
Posted by: jimmyk | February 29, 2020 at 03:03 PM
jimmyk, does the (sigh) apply to the typing or to having met Mel?

Hah, sbw, maybe both. Seriously, I used to be able to type flawless posts, and now...not so much.

I guess I'm a slower typist than Mr. Newspaper.

Maybe that was a lovelorn sigh. :/

He did, Dave, but not like that. NTTAWWT.

Eye spend more thyme correcting than typing when I'm using a tablet.

Iggy, yes, being nice to CH is creepy, right?
As to 1980 v 1908, couldn't agree more...and 1908 probably began in 1860 or so too.
Wilson, TR and FDR sowed the seeds of the whirlwind.
The significance of 1980, starting the book in the middle, is that the WWII-Depression generation was alive and kicking and even the Democrats had to be careful about trashing the country and the Constitution. Now Vietnam and us 60's brats were already nibbling away at the foundation and Ayers in Education, and Law Schools were minting SJW Living Document clowns fast as they could, but for awhile the old guys keep the "rules" in place somewhat.
With Bush #1, the Judas Goats started building the ramps up to the slaughter house entry and they hid their Uniparty from a whole bunch of us including me for several decades. They have had free run of the field ever since Reagan and came THIS CLOSE to sealing the deal before Trump came along.
