Realclearpolitics reports 100% of the SC vote counted, Biden gets 48.4% and 11 delegates, Sanders gets 19.9% and 11 delegates.

Cumulative delegate count to date: Sanders 56, Biden 48, Buttigieg 26.

On to Tuesday's battle royale.

I did a little research based on thinking about what I’d do if Antifa doxxed me for Internet hijinks.

If they parked in front of my house in the county I’m pretty sure it was a Class D or E misdemeanor potentially. Obviously there’s trespassing issues. These rural deputies aren’t too busy for that.

I just have to wonder if the powers that be are ethnically cleansing California. Montezuma’s Revenge Porn.

jim nj

That's got to be the problem then. When was the last time you saw a phone book? Maybe an annotated soft-covered large-print bible would work? Would that be a sign of religious conviction or the cause of a criminal conviction?

One odd thought - if some kind of permission was given and you rescinded it, would you have to go through a legal eviction process in California?

jim nj

If that thing is true it's just really odd.

I mean when I was homeless and not in the shelter I slept on private commercial or public land. The idea of not leaving if asked to wouldn't have even entered my mind. And here in NJ the local LE would have given me the choice of leaving or be arrested, so I wouldn't have even waited to get them involved.

Must be a different mind-set in California. Like those 3 women that took over an empty house and refused to leave and the police wouldn't put them out because...karma.

I wouldn't worry about getting doxxed living in a rural area. Without PC-infected LE protecting the protestors they won't even attempt it. And you've got alligators and wild boars and such to explain their untimely disappearance.

I heard that Trump has been talking about overturning the Johnson Amendment, which is all well and good. But the Johnson Amendment and the Hatch Act only really hobbled one side. And who’s to say some some federal judge won’t shut it down?

I’d say get a phone book from a library but the homeless guys be stabbing librarians

jim nj

True-life adventure. I was still asleep, but my girlfriend opened the apartment door to see who was knocking on it. Four cops going door-to-door in my building with a "Megan's law sex offender notification alert."

Apparently we have an 80 year-old man living in the building who "sexually assaulted multiple juveniles over a several year period. The victims were not strangers."

Hey, I've got an ex-priest for a neighbor!

Well maybe not. Maybe he was just a "family" man. Printed notice with a mug shot, apt. #, and physical description. A list of do and do not's included. I can discuss and inform those immediate to me. I can not discuss with my near neighbors, who have been informed, or the general public, that has not.

I may not "attempt to harm the offender or his/her property."

I don't know all the facts involved so it's not up to me to render justice, but if I get the coronavirus I am definitely going to breathe on him and let G-d sort us out.

jim nj

Trump trolling mini-Mike.

The epitaph of the EU, "Europe is nicer."

jim nj

They're still trying to figure out the transition? I thought this had been settled. Maybe they're just changing the timing?

" Some B-1s at Ellsworth and Dyess Air Force bases are so far gone, Nahom said, that it made more sense to take them offline. That way, maintainers could instead focus on fixing the Lancers that have a better shot at returning to flying status, he said.

That’s why the Air Force proposed cutting 17 B-1s as part of its fiscal 2021 budget, released earlier this month.

“That takes the worst actors offline, and lets the maintainers now concentrate on the airplanes that have a better road to recovery,” Nahom said. “We think, by doing this, we’ll get the mission-capable rate to a more acceptable level.”

Maybe that makes sense if the 17 planes are too far gone. Use them up for spare parts or, more cynically, take those planes off-line and the statistics of the remaining planes instantly look better.

jim nj

We are going to see a lot of articles like this. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus we have had at least three outbreak stories in NJ. Passengers taken off a cruise ship in Bayonne. Nope, not Covid-19. A week later a case at Hackensack Medical Center. Nope, not Covid-19. Yesterday, a case at a hospital down the shore. Nope, not Covid-19.

While the above may, or may not, be a legitimate thing. The media is going to jump on anything for the scoop and then do an Emily Litella, "never mind."

jim nj

An amusing list of speculations. This might be a fun exercise. Try to imagine long-term permanent or temporary changes in behavior because of Covid-19 or the next threat.

This is kind of what the collective of equity investors are trying to figure out now. Sell the permanent losers. Buy the temporary losers when the price is right. Try to figure out the currently unseen winners worth buying.

Buggy whip and yard-stick producers would be high on my list. Anything to keep people out of my personal space. Yo, go breathe on somebody else.

There’s a gag order on people because of sex offenders, that’s what you’re saying?

As expected, in my email box. (And don't think we don't know it was covid 19, not "colds and flu" that got this to happen, Father Richard!):

During this cold and flu season:

Please refrain from shaking hands or holding hands during Mass. During the sign of peace, accompany your greeting with a friendly smile or head nod instead of shaking hands.

Holy Communion will be distributed under one species only - the Consecrated Host - for all Masses during Lent. The Real Presence of Jesus - and all of the Eucharistic graces - are fully present through communion under the species of the bread alone. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1390)

All Liturgical Ministers - Altar Servers, Ushers, Lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - are asked to wash their hands before Mass begins.

After coming up onto the altar, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will proceed to the sacristy behind the altar to wash their hands before serving.

Tom Selleck is a Yankee from Detroit but he always seems to play Confederates in Westerns. Did you guys know Elmore Leonard was based? “A Confederate soldier returns to his Arizona homestead and finds Union sympathizers have laid claim to his land.” Last Stand at Saber River.

Anybody know what that attractive blond evangelist is doing front and center in every photo I've seen of "Trump meets w African Americans" that came out the other day?

Still seeing nothing in my bubble about Pope having corona.

So, "cold or flu". (Which we now appreciate for the near death sentence it can be in the elderly population!)

It's a risky job, that loving on people.

PIN and anon,

It's a legal trade-off. The authorities are required to alert specific people about sex offenders in their midst according to NJ law.

People who aren't required to be notified because they are not proximate can search an on-line database to find any or all registered sex offenders in NJ.

So in my case, he's in my building. In a neighborhood the authorities would alert the immediate neighbors.

Once that is done it is against the law to take further private action against the individual.

I can't legally share the information, "with anyone who is outside of [my] immediate household." or "with the media." or "post the flyer in a public location."

The genesis of the law is in NJ, but it is now federal in scope. If you read the article, a prior law required LE to keep such sex offender lists, but they weren't public. NJ made the information publicly available with caveats. That is now the federal standard.

So now every state has a Megan's Law. It's a "try to thread the needle" of balancing of "rights" of different constituencies. Is the "sex-offender" really one, or were they caught in a technicality? Think about that. If they are real, been adjudicated, served time and are considered "cured" we free them.

In Avenel, NJ, we have a sex offender treatment facility.

I'm going to guess that most states have something similar.

Here the thinking gets muddy. If they serve their sentence and are deemed cured we have to release them. The reason and justification for holding them is gone, so, theoretically, they leave with a clean slate, but Megan's Law requires notification to the community they are released into. It's a warning, but it also enlists the community into a kind of "neighborhood watch."

The "big" muddy comes when a sentence has been served and the offender is still deemed to be a risk, even after treatment. Should we release them? NJ policy is no. We can hold them as long as we deem them a threat.

That can be contested legally, as the criminal penalty is gone, but I think [I haven't done a deep dive on this] that an involuntary psychiatric hold is usually approved by the court.

Some people argue that this is not a fair process, most don't.

Imagine criminalizing gossip.

"In 2017, I wrote a personal essay about a much older, married cable-news host who inappropriately flirted with me in the makeup room a few times before we went live on his show, making me noticeably uncomfortable on air. I was afraid to name him at the time for fear of retaliation from the network; I’m not anymore. It was Chris Matthews. In 2016, right before I had to go on his show and talk about sexual-assault allegations against Donald Trump, Matthews looked over at me in the makeup chair next to him and said, 'Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?'"

Oh my!

"A fellow cable-news pundit, who doesn’t want to be named for professional reasons, said Matthews invited her on to talk about misogyny in the Republican Party, telling her that he planned to draw a comparison to the ’60s ad-men show Mad Men. Right before going on air, he turned to her and asked 'whether Joan’s proportions are real,' referring to the body of a curvy character on the show, before seamlessly transitioning into a supposedly feminist segment. She was shaken, like I was."

Here's the first episode of The Dean Martin Show, September 16, 1965.

I bet she would have been completely unable to function had she been on this show.

How in the world did women get so ridiculously delicate over stuff like that?

Jim Eagle

Also, you have Dick's which has a much larger inventory and choice. When Frederick was learning to skate, Modells had a lousy selection of sizes and type of skates. Went to Dick's in Riverhead. No problem. In and out in minutes.

I opened that Dean Martin show in a separate tab. So far, guest stars include Bob Newhart, Frank Sinatra, Danny Thomas, Eddie Fisher, Steve Allen, and Diana Carroll.

Who is the subject of your 9:12 post?

How in the world did women get so ridiculously delicate over stuff like that?

They didn't. It's all b.s.

This is good. Never heard of it before.

I was assuming that there was a woman news maven who wrote or commented on those two large passages that Extraneus posted about Chris Matthews at 9:02.

I think part of the reason I like President Trump is that he reminds me of that era. That video that Extraneus posted a day or two ago sure did remind me of Dean or Sinatra.

Wading belatedly into The Who-Gets-Credit-for-Breitbart's-Conversion conversation! Andrew told my husband, Harry, that HE started nudging him toward conservatism! When Mitch Modell appeared in “Undercover Boss”, it became utterly clear that he had little concept of retail or, for that matter, the value of a buck. US and Taliban sign deal aimed at ending war in Afghanistan

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Acknowledging a military stalemate after nearly two decades of conflict, the United States on Saturday signed a peace agreement with the Taliban that is aimed at ending America’s longest war and bringing U.S. troops home from Afghanistan more than 18 years after they invaded in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Lucky for the Taliban they have hundreds of SU-57 fighters and thousands of T-90 tanks and dozens of S-500 SAM batteries or they would have suffered the same fate Americans would if there were a civil war here where the patriots would have none of those things.

BREAKING NEWS: Illinois now has three confirmed cases of coronavirus.

If you're from NYC area, you know this chain of sporting goods stores

Was just at the one a couple blocks from me. I have some money left on a gift card that I need to spend quickly. Retail outlets in Manhattan are dropping like flies. All the regs, higher minimum wage can't be helping.

Here's another sad story about a place right around the corner from me that's been in business 120 years. Great guys, family business.

I wondered how they could last, but they had a lot of contractors coming in to buy paint and other materials. Not enough, I guess.

Everyone's got a story!

As they say, success has many fathers, failure is an orphan. (Apparently that goes back to Tacitus.)

If they were at a Roger Kimball event, presumably Andrew was already "transitioning." But I'm sure Harry helped push him over the edge.

J.i.b. @ 9:26 am,, and jimmyk @ 10:46, part of Modells' charm is that they sell a lot of seconds and mark-downs. Another regional family store that over-expanded and is now hurting, like the Fairway supermarket chain. And yes, that minimum wage is killing lots of businesses. Many restaurants here i Port Washington have closed

He has a rally scheduled in Minneapolis on Thursday! I read that in this article.

Insty quote extensively from a WSJ editorial this weekend:

It’s a big challenge, but getting those answers right won’t be any easier if the coronavirus becomes no different than any of the other political footballs kicked constantly around the capital these days.

These jackholes can’t even focus the blame on just precisely who is politicizing this outbreak: the effing Ds. Talk about sickening.

Since I am cooking for a hubby with cv issues we are still working out, I decided to be at costco when they opened to get more pesto sauce. I know which one typically opens early and was first in store and out. As we were leaving discovered the line was now around the building.

On to grocery store as cats have to stay fed and litter boxes clean. Went for meat and milk with latest expiration. For anyone that doesn't normally buy grass fed dairy products, those had expiration in mid April so it would be a good time to switch if you have a cereal eater in the house.

Yes, I did tell red that was poison.

Pollak: Coronavirus Panic Partly Driven by Anti-Trump Hysteria

The Louvre Museum has shut its doors after workers voiced fears about picking up the coronavirus from the gallery's international visitors.

A short statement from the Louvre said a staff meeting about virus prevention efforts stopped the museum from opening as scheduled Sunday morning. Would-be visitors were still waiting to get inside on Sunday afternoon and a message on the museum's website said it was still shut.

"We are very worried because we have visitors from everywhere," said Andre Sacristin, a Louvre employee and union representative for its staffers.

"The risk is very, very, very great," he said in a phone interview. While there are no known virus infections among the museum's 2,300 workers, "it's only a question of time," he said.

The shutdown followed a government decision on Saturday to ban indoor public gatherings of more than 5,000 people.

Sacristin said that new measure exacerbated the fears of Louvre workers that they might be in danger of contracting the virus, because the museum welcomes tens of thousands of visitors each day. Also worrying staffers is that museum workers from northern Italy are now visiting the Louvre. They have come to collect works by Leonardo da Vinci that were loaned for a major exhibition, he said.

Roman Catholic churches remained closed across South Korea on Sunday, as officials struggle with a coronavirus outbreak that has led to the cancellation of many public gatherings, reports the BBC.

The Catholic Church has an estimated 5.8m members in the country.

Major Protestant groups have also halted Sunday services. All Buddhist events have been called off.

South Korea is battling the worst coronavirus outbreak outside China, with 3,736 cases and 18 deaths so far.

Btw, for those who haven't seen it, the deleted Schumer tweet thing was apparently a hoax.

If you go down aways in the comments, you will find one by Dan Knight which starts out:

Medical information is essentially the only citizens data Western governments protect - unless the target is an actual criminal, enemy, or terrorist ...

Every wonder why?

I would have posted the whole thing, but it was quite long. It touches on our discussion about bogus health stats and how, like everything else, there’s a master plan or ten involved.

HIPAA was to protect HIV positive people.

Henry, that was definitely the point he initially made - the inability of small businesses to protect themselves against high insurance costs. But it was a full blown leftest push that may have intended us normies to be punished with the killer disease before things like blood donor tests dramatically reduced the risks.

No lines at Walgreens when I stopped by for bleach and laundry detergent.

There's been a run on Purell around here, nothing left. I just wonder whether Purell is any more effective than soap and water vs. Coronavirus.

MT, expand transmission to normies? They sure keep trying on that angle. See free needles (increase needle sharing that way) and refusal to link drug use to heterosexual aids transmission. The comment would be better if it cited ACA mandatory electronic medical records and government collection thereof (while we employers are stuck with HIPAA and skewered by medical costs).

Re Purell, per FDA it doesn’t work on virus.

Today they said no more dipping. Lips to the cup only. Or skip the wine completely.
