Narciso. The TALIBAN, may well go after the PAKISTANI'S. What are we to do about that???
We have spent LIVES and TREASURE. The TALIBAN is still alive. Pakistan, has protected vile MUZZZZTARDS including Bin Laden. The equation today, is whether PAKISTAN is willing to fight ISLAMIC TERROR and TALIBANI VIOLENCE......or not.
Yeah, two different Taliban groups, one in Afghanistan, the other in Pakistan, with, as I understand it, different goals.
I think we have made certain things clear to both the Afghanistan Taliban and the country of Pakistan, like we retain the right to get seriously pissed-off and do something about it if and when needed.
I don't see Pakistan playing their usual game with us anymore. I think Trump's visit to India was part of the message.

I'm totally stunned that socialized medicine paradises, including tiny ones like the UK, and tiny relatively homogeneous ones like the Netherlands and Denmark and vast unpopulated ones like Upper Canuckistan AKA The Great White North are not as well prepared for an epidemic as the barbaric and backwards US of A.
Bernie will fix that.
Stewart compared achievement by race in a number of cities that he classified as progressive or conservative. The results didn’t surprise me, but they shocked Stewart. Conservative cities (as ranked by political scientists used as a reference for the study) consistently did a better job of closing student achievement gaps–sometimes, to zero–than progressive cities.

Battle for Idlib: On the frontline with the fighters resisting Assad's assault
From the battlefront in northwestern Syria, a look into attempts by the rebels to build on recent gains
Yeah, I'm looking for accurate information on what's going on in Idlib and it's not easy. Sputnik and other Russian media are busy putting out lots of stories with their slant. Turkish media doing the same.
I have to plow through a lot of stuff and try and make an ill-informed opinion as to what is actually happening.
Some things become evident over time. I've seen enough reports and videos of Turkish military columns moving up to and into Syria to think that Turkey is serious about blunting and maybe even turning back the Syrian attack.
The reports of Turkish Artillery bombardment and use of drones for aerial attacks seem correct. The reports about Syrian helicopters not flying over contested territory and reports of downed choppers suggests that the Turks have moved manpads into the area.
So when I see an article that reports that "rebels" are taking advantage of such things and advancing and re-taking territory it makes sense.
OTOH, when I read that the Syrians are bombarding Turkish outposts I don't know what to think. Are the Syrians trying to dislodge bases they clearly don't want in their country or is that propaganda justifying a Turkish push to relieve those outposts?
"Just two months after the Russian Aerospace Force (VKS) was formed by merging the tactical air force and air defense forces, Putin announced the deployments of dozens of combat aircraft to Syria in a bid to prop up the faltering regime of strongman Bashar al-Assad.
Five years of relentless bombardment tilted the course of the war in Assad’s favor—and continues to do so today as heavy bombing paves the way for Assad’s forces to crush the last major rebel stronghold in Idlib province—if it doesn’t trigger Turkish intervention first.
However, the air campaign has cost the Russian military at least nineteen manned aircraft (eleven helicopters and eight airplanes) between 2015–2018, leading to the deaths of twenty-three crew and thirty-seven passengers."
Interesting, but the analysis stops in 2018. I'm curious about 2019 and so far this year.
"However, these losses were too few to stop the VKS and naval aviation from flying well over 39,000 sorties in Syria by mid-2018, shifting the tide of the conflict in Assad’s favor."
That's a lot of sorties. I wonder how that number would compare to coalition sorties in that time period.
And this is interesting:
"Western air forces have reduced airplane losses to short-range air defense to nil by flying at high altitudes and making extensive use of expensive precision-guided munitions, though slower and lower-flying helicopters have been less fortunate.
However, the VKS has more limited precision-air-to-ground capabilities which it uses only selectively. As a result vast majority of Russian munitions expended in Syria have been unguided bombs released at over 13,000 feet to avoid air defense fire, using a timed SVP-24 navigation/attack systems—with middling accuracy. Cluster bombs and incendiary munitions with a large propensity for collateral damage were also liberally employed."
Their sorties are presumably less effective if they are using dumber bombs. Pay more for pinpoint bombs and you can fly fewer sorties. Does put more and tear on the planes than needed?

I'm totally stunned that socialized medicine paradises, including tiny ones like the UK, and tiny relatively homogeneous ones like the Netherlands and Denmark and vast unpopulated ones like Upper Canuckistan AKA The Great White North are not as well prepared for an epidemic as the barbaric and backwards US of A.
Bernie will fix that.

The accumulated wealth of the ten richest dudes in the world exceeds the GDP of the 85 poorest countries combined.
To a prog that conjures visions of doubling the income of those 85 for one year.
After five years of course the 10 richest dudes would probably be rich again and the 85 poorest countries would be even poorer than they were before although Swiss banks would be overflowing with tyrant deposits.

I trust absolutely no information coming out of Syria, At All.
Absolutely nothing.
Unless it’s a press release from the USMC.

Melinda,
Yes, it's hard to figure out what is real and what is propaganda in Syria, but I get a sense that Turkey has gone on the offense.
https://syria.liveuamap.com/
This seems to indicate drone attacks and artillery bombardments in support of the "rebels" who seem to be re-taking territory.

Narciso,
That would make more sense. I think that pre-Ordegan Turkey could have fit into EU. As far as I can remember they never asked to join before Ordegan.
I think the request to join was all about subsidies. Now Ordegan can just blackmail the EU with refugee flows. Like he appears to be doing now again.

I dont think that trick will work as well now, western europe has gotten its fill of sojourners from the east, add current circumstances to me.

Are the Syrians trying to dislodge bases they clearly don't want in their country or is that propaganda justifying a Turkish push to relieve those outposts?

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/heres-reason-why-russian-aircraft-keep-dying-syria-128527

I hope that LA thing is fake or some weird misunderstanding.
I think Popes get as many sick-days as they need. It's probably in the union rules, or is he considered to be in management these days?
