What makes anyone think a bad small-town mayor would be capable of the presidency?

All the Deep Staters, who think they run everything anyway, so the titular head doesn't matter. Actually, the weaker, the better.
Obama (Jarret) did it, after all.

Another Bob

“She's reeling from that video.”

Been fun to see the dems crying their eyes out at having their tactics used against them.

The rending of garments over the Vindmann “firings” has been precious.

Heh. Already posted earlier I think, but funny if you didn't click then.

“The climate movement is overwhelmingly white. So I walked away,” explains Karin Louise Hermes, accusing her fellow tree huggers of exploiting her for ‘woke’ token diversity points.

“After a while I realized I would only be called upon when climate organizations needed an inspiring story or a “diverse” voice, contacts for a campaign, or to participate in a workshop for “fun” when everyone else on the (all-white) project was getting paid,” she complains.

Jeez, you guys, my JOM peeps, can you stop posting so much brilliant stuff? You think all I do on weekends is sit at the computer? I'll never catch up on my chores and this thread. Oh, and Happy belated bday JIB.

Question: Has Major League Baseball punished the red Sox yet?

I am totally in sympathy with frustration with the automated call tree. I got into a catch-22 with one last week, in which they wanted me to pay a bill over the phone (late to AT&T) but in order to pay it I had to move money from savings to checking.

It was after banking hours and they had cut off my internet so I couldn't access my account. Fortunately, my phone is on a separate account with auto-pay and was still operational. I had to do exactly what you guys talk about, yelling operator. I finally got a nice guy who reconnected me and waited while I gave him a blow-by-blow of me logging onto my bank account and moving the money.

Orson Bean, television personality, actor, comedian, and father-in-law of Andrew Breitbart, has died, at age 91, killed by a motor vehicle as he was crossing the street in Los Angeles.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I wonder if Orson Bean had information that would lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton.

But when I hit a victory it just powers me forward and reminds me that I can overcome anything.

Yes, you can!!!

It's obvious to your readers that you outthink 90% of the peeps out there--be patient--it takes a bit to help them "see" how to get to your (commonsense) goal.

One tip, if you are fortunate to be dealing with a human--I often begin with "who can authorize" and then I put forth what I think ought to be the conclusion of the interaction.
Saves a lot of time, because as you found out, nowadays , it's not always the person they designate to do the initial contact, if it doesn't fit the script.

This guy is on the same wavelength re Piccolo Pete;
Creepy Pete;
He may not be a robot, but there’s something uncanny about this candidate.

Donald J. Trump
Fake News @CNN
& MSDNC keep talking about “Lt. Col.” Vindman as though I should think only how wonderful he was. Actually, I don’t know him, never spoke to him, or met him (I don’t believe!) but, he was very insubordinate, reported contents of my “perfect” calls incorrectly, &...

....was given a horrendous report by his superior, the man he reported to, who publicly stated that Vindman had problems with judgement, adhering to the chain of command and leaking information. In other words, “OUT”.

Retweeted by the President from a tweet he did January 31. Link goes to a chart comparing his support to that of the leading democrat candidates in Iowa.

--1. Re: Pete, I don’t think he is particularly shallow.

2. I mean very few of our politicians are deep thinkers and he would not be one of the exceptions. Pete strikes me as a bright, glib and ambitious young man and a total bullshit artist. He has chosen the right profession for his talents. I don’t think that he has any core beliefs beyond a desire for self advancement. I of course disagree with him on most if not all of his policy ideas...The ability to sound profound without saying anything noteworthy is a skill that most politicians wish they were better at.--

It took you ten times as many words in #2 to agree with me and refute your own #1, but you did do a pretty good job of it.
Pete Buttigieg = homoautoerotictude = a gay platitude that loves itself.

--I have zero interest in his sex life. He can bugger (or be buggered by) whatever consenting adult he wants; it means absolutely nothing to me. I don’t care what he talks to himself about in the bath either.--

I don't care that a person is a botoxed, siliconed old crone or a pencil necked, goggle eyed freak or a fat dwarf whose pants are slowly devouring him or an oddball, stretch who hides in the curtains unless they start inserting themselves in my life and trying to wreck the country. At that point every way in which I can insult, discredit or needle them is fair game.

Stephanie - yes it's either sleeting or raining down on my side of town, too! My little weather station registered 70 degrees only 2 days ago.

Thread saying that Buttigieg's top advisor is a known apologist for the Tehran regime.

Saw Stephanie Grisham on TV last night. She said that all the Sunday shows, except Fox Business refused to have anyone from the WH on them - and they actually volunteered.

Brave Sir Romney doesn't even know who Trump's opponent will be, but he knows that even a communist would be better than Trump.

What a man.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

To go with Ext's comment;

Ig, Peter Buttboy is a weird dude. He is an actor. He practices his bullshit, then flings it like monkey. He has credentials, yet NO ACCOMPLISHMENTS. In general, you'll know how astute or vapid a candidate is, by the people who eagerly support him/her.

Once again a blown forecast as the so-called dusting has thoroughly covered ground, roads, and roofs.

I was at grocery store at 7:15 am and virtually alone (Human Eating Machine supposed to stop in and must be prepared) and then at costco when it opened to get rotisserie chicken so I can easily whip up risotto.

We have about an inch of snow. Streets seem wet, but car will have to be scraped when I go out later.

Thank you Iowa for the RECORD vote we just received in the Primary. The Dems were 25% down (although their votes are all fried!). https://t.co/xQb5ZKWVeT

I am so sick of this.

Comey even accused Clapper & Brennan of leaking the Steele Dossier briefing to the media in that memo!

Yep, in the 3rd week of the Trump Admin, Comey was leaving breadcrumbs that Nunes later used to accuse Clapper of being the leaker...

Pelosi on Vindman’s expected departure from WH: “I’m stunned by it. I’ll talk to my colleagues about this because I know they have some concern about some of the interventions that the president has with our military. That’s such a shame. What a patriotic person,” per @jeremyherb

Just look at Warren .. she began to believe her own PR. Then, tried to form it into something that could become a law … the result … reality looked very ugly and she plunged in the polls.

People like to hear about ice cream and lollipops but don’t want to deal with obesity.

So the President has no say over who works in the White House? The Commander in Chief has no influence on the military?

Patriotism is defined by blind adherence to the dictates of a botoxed hag from streetpoopville.

Senate Ethics Complaint Filed Against Rand Paul for Repeated Mention of Alleged Ukraine Whistleblower’s Name

Dear Chairman Lankford and Ranking Member Coons:

Senator Rand Paul defied the rules of the Senate and engaged in improper conduct that is unethical and unbecoming of a Senator. Last week, Senator Paul submitted a question in the impeachment trial of President Donald John Trump that illegally and dangerously named a government whistleblower. Senator Paul compounded his criminal conduct by then publicizing his question after it was rejected by Chief Justice John Roberts. Senator Paul then doubled down
on his inappropriate conduct by publicly displaying a card with the alleged whistleblower’s name on it on the Senate Floor in front of public cameras. I submit this complaint requesting a full review by the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

…Senator Paul’s actions constituted a retaliatory outing of a government witness—which is criminal conduct. Federal criminal law prohibits the obstruction of justice, and provides that “[w]hoever knowingly, with the intent to retaliate, takes any action harmful to any person, including interference with the lawful employment or livelihood of any person, for providing to a law enforcement officer any truthful information relating to the commission or possible commission of any Federal offense, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.”7 Courts have regularly found that outing a whistleblower in online media—exactly what Senator Paul did here—can constitute such criminal retaliatory action.8

for providing to a law enforcement officer any truthful information

That is Ciaramella’s problem right there. Per peach mint court, it wasn’t true.

The Vindman intervention doesn't bother me, but I expect that petard Mme Speaker is hoist upon will become increasingly uncomfortable.

BTW, I spotted an unexpected feminist 1.0 after-effect in the oddest place last week. I was watching a French murder mystery series in which the substitlers translated the unmistakable "Madame" as "Ms." Très bizarre!

Mayor Petey isn't smart. I strongly suspect everyone here could destroy him in a debate.

An excerpt:

We have passed through the legal and constitutional trials of the Trump era. They were painful, but we now face our greatest trial, because it is about each of us, alone. And especially about those who were, or are, Republicans. Will they assert personal, core values in the face of a powerfully human temptation to surrender them? Or will they still those inner voices, smile tightly in places like the East Room, and drift with the crowd? We will know in just nine months.

wonderful, Elliott

Sure Comey. Each traitor will stand trial alone. Within 9 months would be great, but seems optimistic.

Excellent elliot.

Ignatz —

You once again demonstrate your ability to paint clever word pictures. You really should monetize that skill, but you are probably tired of us saying that. We are glad that you share your writing here in any event.

You missed my point re Pete. You indicated that he set some sort of generational standard for vapidity. My response — perhaps too verbose — was essentially that he is merely garden variety shallow for a politician.

Your verbal caricatures of Pete and Jerry and Adam (I assume) are quite humorous. But while it is certainly fair game to make fun of people s looks and clothes and age, etc., it is a bit odd to do so in a post complaining about “shallowness.” Your lampoons of these people, as spot on and funny as they are, are quite obviously cheap shots.

I think the cartooning of peoples sex lives is a bit cringe inducing and picking on the gay guy is a bit selective. Why go there? If by some miracle Amy Klobuchar were to become the nominee would you write imaginative pieces about her in bed? Maybe you would, but for me a) I assume that she has a sex life and b) I don’t want to think about it.

In any event, we agree that Buttigieg should not be president. If your clever cartoons of him help even in some small way to keep him out of the Oval Office that’s great.

A man was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk in the Venice neighborhood when he was clipped by a vehicle and fell, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison said. A second driver then struck him in what police say was the fatal collision. Both drivers remained on the scene, neither was impaired and Orson Bean’s death was being treated as an accident, Madison said.

Captain Hate,

As upset as so many of the liberals get for tax breaks and such, imagine how they will react when they realize how much of their tax money is either skimmed off the top or recycled as kickbacks to high-level bureaucrats and elected officials.

elliott:Your G & S take off is a big hit on FB

Captain Hate

Let me put it this way, Miss Marple; I'm pissed off at the lying the GOP did to me and they're amateurs by comparison.

Captain Hate,

Me, too.

I KNOW my daughter will go bananas when she finds out, but I have to have unassailable proof, not just the reasonable theories that we have come up with.

My sister, the retired Catholic schoolteacher, was here earlier today and she did NOT know that there was a temple on Epstein's island. She had never heard of it! I looked it up on a search to show her. She is pro-Trump, too, so it's not like she's been sequestered on NPR like my democrat sister.

I need actual audits, indictments, etc. I need something that converts my daughter the way I got disgusted with Carter and voted for Reagan, even though I had grown up in a family that had been democrat since Roosevelt.

Bonus for me: my sister says there is a new priest at our church and she is going to take me to Mass tomorrow. It's a younger priest who does HIGH MASS at every service, and she finds he counters the bad influence of Pope Che. (That means all responses are sung. Also, his homilies are good and she is a pretty stern critic.)

MM, the new priest sounds like an improvement.

What's well nigh hilarious about the Bloomberg video you linked is that only moments after Bloomberg opines that the non-intelligentsia can't cope with the subtleties of gender and go crazy over little things like a guy wearing a dress being admitted to the girls' locker room, he says that of course, when we put people in prisons, we say drop your trousers first, because we've got to keep the men and women separated (slightly paraphrased). Because...Intelligentsia!

I think Bloomberg is the best Dems have got, but that doesn't mean he can't run off the rails before election day. Hope that video goes seriously viral.
