More results have trickled in. At last look, 538 had 71% of the votes. Their prediction jibes with that of the NY Times Upshot: Sanders will probably have more total votes (both first and second round) and Buttigieg will probably get more delegates. Why? Sort of an Electoral Pre-School effect:
So far, Sen. An urban areas and college towns, which punch a bit below their weight in terms of delegates.
I wouldn't spend much more time delving into the details of the Iowa Way - After what one wag described as an explosive shower of radioactive clowns I doubt these caucuses will be first in the nation again.
Senate speeches start at 4 PM, vote starts afterwards.

Brought over from the the end of the last thread, and referencing an article clarice posted by Angelo Codevilla in "American Greatness":
clarice,
I don't have as negative a view as Codevilla. It seems to me that President Trump has pulled aside the veil on a bunch of institutions.
Television networks have lost their luster. The moniker of "fake news" has struck a chord with millions of Americans. Confidence in reporting has plummeted.
No one is really paying attention to the Academy awards or the Emmy Awards any more. People don't go to the movies the way they used to, and a lot of them don't watch TV at all, so who cares?
Scandals in the Church and in Academia has made us less susceptible to their influence. Watching the impeachment fiasco has made us question how Congress operates and the type of people we elect.
Of course things won't get back to the way they used to be 40 years ago. However, things can move closer to that goal, and there is a lot of improvement that can be done. I am not giving up, and I find Codevilla's article too accepting of the status quo.

--I don't have as negative a view as Codevilla.--
As maryrose might say, his view isn't negative, just realistic, which I think for all of us means the more something agrees with us the more realistic it is.
But I was about to suggest people read the article, if they hadn't already;
Facing Up To the Revolution.
-- It seems to me that President Trump has pulled aside the veil on a bunch of institutions.--
True. Trump is Toto. But unlike the Emerald City, in our very own Merde Metropolis the institutional wizards don't contritionally bow their heads and admit they're all frauds. They double, triple and quadruple down on holding power and dig their long claws in to the point mere revelation of their fraud and illegitimacy has no effect.
Either the claws have to be broken off or the brain stem sending the signal to hold on has to be severed to get them out of our lives.
We have not yet begun to fight.

When you think about it, the Democrat Impeachment Debacle, the Iowa Caucuses Catastrophe, and the Nancy Pelosi meltdown along with her sisters dressed in white at the State of the Union last night tells us all we need to know about the Democrat party today. It's completely out of sync with the American people, our values and our goals.
My hope is that this is the beginning of the end of that party, and that its remnants will splinter off into unimportant minority factions until they completely fade away.

Just got off the phone with my son. He said NONE of his liberal friends called him about the speech, or about the behavior of Pelosi and the other democrats. He said normally they would call to needle, but he said the non-calling told him that they realize they have no leg to stand on with Pelosi's behavior.
He said this reminds him of when I left the democrat party (which he remembered because he was 11). It was in the Carter era, and I had gotten fed up with gas lines, high taxes, Carter acting like nothing could be done, etc. The last straw was when he cancelled a proposed tax rebate.
That was it. I pulled the lever for Reagan and the GOP.

Unlike our enemies, our ultimate objective is, as Lincoln said, “peace among ourselves and with all nations.” But what kind of peace we may get depends on the extent to which we may compel our enemies to leave us in peace. And for that, we must do unto them more and before they do unto us.

Theo (from last night):
"Trump won the first time by energizing the people who agree with him, no matter how much it infuriates those who disagree. Apparently he is going to use the same strategy again."
Your first assertion may well be true, but the second seems utterly counter-factual to me. See Miss Marple's poll graphic at 11:41 for starters. Even Van Jones on CNN recognized that Trump is successfully going after minority voters, something that should have been crystal clear to anyone who listened to Trump's speech, even if it had escaped their attention till then.
I dare say there are any number of things his base is not thrilled with, like the scale of spending he is proposing, for instance. I also think that opposing late-term abortion, per se, is actually a compromise position, acceptable not just to pro-life voters but also to the vast, largely silent, majority of those who might call themselves pro-choice, but who find it horrifying as well.
It seems to me that about the only people who were not included in his outreach are the anti-gun faction and the marxist/socialists. He has done more to expand the Republican base in ways we simply haven't seen before, notwithstanding those fabled Regan democrats.

Well Ignatz, was not the British Navy famous for Rum, Sodomy & the Lash! They could have named a frigate Harvey Milk.
But as for Nan The Ripper. There's a months long history there. She said that she has not spoken with Trump since October (which was probably a month or so after she stood up and lectured him at a Cabinet meeting). The picture was on the Internet. She then stormed out of the meeting.
She didn't give the customary "I have the great and high honor of introducing The President Of The United States!" hoo hah when he walked into the House. She just said "The President" as though she was saying, "Eek-a rat!"
Trump may or may not have noticed her extended hand--in any event he didn't shake it.
Who started this little kindergarten spat? I don't know and I don't care.

The enemy (harsh word intended to label all those who, knowingly or unknowingly, stand in the way of restoring our Constitutional Republic) we face is not just "the other side" but our friends and family who beg with wringing hands "can't we all just get along?"
THAT will only occur when one side or the other achieves total victory.

Wray today: “The failures highlighted in the inspector general report are unacceptable, period. And they cannot be repeated,” Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee.
“I have already ordered more than 40 corrective actions to our FISA policies and procedures,” Wray continued, adding that he has “gone above and beyond” in outlining what “should be changed” and “can be changed” and can provide “accountability,” “rigor” and “discipline.”

Hey Chris,
Your guys broke the existing rules with impunity and it took an IG to force you to admit even that. And it took pressure from above to force out the few liars and crooks who were.
You don't need more rules. You need fewer crooks and you need to punish the ones you already have. And then you need to resign or be fired yourself.
