In the Iowa Update du Jour Bernie Sanders will claim the popular vote (both rounds) and may eke out a win in the SDE tally, or State Delegate Equivalents. Apparently Team Sanders organized new satellite caucuses and is turning in great results from them.
Uh, satellite caucuses? Say what? Let's give credit where due - the Iowa State Democrats really leaned into accommodating Bernie and implementing Operation Own Goal:
In particular, the campaign focused heavily on bringing people out to the satellite caucuses that were held across the state and in other parts of the world for Iowans who couldn’t make it to the 7 p.m. caucuses. This was the first year the party hosted satellite caucuses, and no other campaign seems to have invested serious resources in turning those voters out. With 41 state delegates available to be swept up, and fewer than 25 delegates currently separating Pete Buttigieg and Sanders, they could end up making the difference when the delegate count is finalized.
The first caucus was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, of all places and reports are that Sanders led the delegates there. Another was held in St. Petersburg, Florida, where former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is heavily on the airwaves. The first in Iowa was held at a UFCW union hall in Ottumwa, with Sanders winning all 14 of the final votes to net four precinct delegates, a relatively large pickup. At Drake University in Des Moines, workers and students went overwhelmingly for Sanders, giving him five delegates and Sen. Elizabeth Warren two, meaning that he netted five relative to Buttigieg....
In all, there were 87 satellite caucuses. According to Iowa Democratic Party rules, the total delegate value of those caucuses will be determined by satellite turnout and in proportion to the total number of people who came out to vote in the regular caucuses. They are to be worth some percent of the total, meaning that the four delegates Sanders won in Ottumwa, for instance, could actually rise or shrink in the final analysis. But what we know about those caucuses suggests that Sanders may have won those caucuses by enough to overcome his deficit with Buttigieg, which at the time of writing sits at 23.987 delegates with 86 percent of the precincts reporting.
Great. Now let's have the Democrats rewrite the rules for health care and pharmaceutical development.
IN OTHER NEWS: The sun rose in the East and the Senate acquitted Trump. The mini-surprises were a Romney defection but no aisle-crossing from Manchin (D, WV) or Sinema (D, AZ).

jimmyk@8:09. Predicting the future is hard. I remember a book I found at a used book sale for about 10 cents written by Jeane Dixon. (I've since lost it.) Jeane had a whole career as a fortune teller because supposedly she predicted JFK's death. She saw something dark happening to JFK in November, or something vague like that.
Anyway this book was written in 1968 and predicted that Teddy Kennedy would be President in 1972.
Her crystal ball was cloudy that day.

To The Associated Press on its reporting of Donald Trump’s noontime East Room talk.
It reads:
This was not the worst of AP’s recent articles, but it certainly was unprofessional.
Unprofessional. Seriously:
Does the Associated Press edit for excess and inappropriate adjectives and verbs? — exulting, defiant, scorched-earth, unleashing, triumphantly, emboldened, barrels, stark, venting, rambling, dramatic, shattered, jarring, gloating.
Does AP edit out unnecessary and irrelevant clauses? — Clinton admitted he had done things that proved illegal. Trump was not shown to have done things that were illegal. AP did not mention the difference.
Does AP include necessary context? — AP, as it always has, and despite being repeatedly asked to stop the practice, repeats Democrat impeachment charges without presenting legitimate defense to those accusations.
At the least, AP should reconsider running AP’s analysis as the lead paragraph of its articles, restricting itself to reporting relevant facts at hand the way professional journalism used to do years ago.
AP opines that Trump conceded nothing, as if he had to. The editorial premise of AP was that Trump was guilty of unspecified criminal action but got off on a technicality.
The inclusion of Bill Clinton’s impeachment did not belong in the article. There was no comparison in impeachment articles, nor should there have been.
Equally irrelevant was the mention of Rudy Giuliani who played no part in the impeachment defense. AP’s extraneous mention of him seems designed to reinforce the dismissed articles of impeachment, not report the verdict.
AP needs to look up the word replete. AP’s use of the words suggests that Trump’s speech was laced with multiple profanities. That is, in the single word Trump used at the outset, best described as bullshit.
AP can’t even recognize a joke, calling his potential impeachment for jaywalking a “prediction”.
AP’s lack of craftsmanship suggests that Trump apologized for something he had brought on his family when it was clear he was sorry that others had brought the family into their pursuit of him.
And, finally, how dare AP misuse Trump’s comments to needlessly repeat " the special counsel's investigation of Russian interference to help Trump in the 2016 election" without stating the final result that clearly vindicated Trump. This kind of repetition, as with repetition of the Democrats’ impeachment charges, is a premeditated and nasty assault on accurate journalism.
Posted by: sbwaters | February 07, 2020 at 09:25 AM

Now do John Kerry's stepson. Chelsea. Democrats have a pay-to-play foreign policy. Ukraine may have laundered the kickbacks from Obama giving Iran $150 billion.
I always assumed the money laundering and kickbacks with the former corrupt Ukrainian government was using the foreign aid sent to Ukraine, which was significantly a lower amount than the $150 billion sent to Iran.
Hopefully there is a money trail from Obama to Iran to Ukraine and back to multiple Democrats and Team Trump can prove it.

Within the article, this tweet of Byron York's is reproduced, along with a chart:
"AP says it cannot declare winner in Iowa Democratic caucus, based on arcane SDE calculations. But with 99% reporting, Sanders has 6,114-vote (3.5 percentage point) lead in first vote, 2,631-vote (1.6 point) lead in second vote. Neither is too close to call. Sanders won."
It looks to me like AP is in cahoots with the DNC big shots to keep Sanders out of the winner's spot.

Shane Ferguson Abe wonders, “How did you get a name like that”?
So Shane replied that his name in the old country was Mottle Rosenschwieg.
"My uncle, who was in America 10 years before me, told me to tell immigration that my name was Morris Rose. I practiced saying my new name for the entire trip on the boat. I asked the American sailors to say it for me and learned to pronounce it.
I was standing in line at the immigration for two hours, worrying about everything, when the officer finally asked me my name, I said, "Schane fergessen", which is Yiddish for 'I forgot already'. So that's what the immigration man wrote."

We are Rush 24/7 members. I mostly use it for podcasts but today I had to tune into the dittocam to see how he looked. He has a cold coming on but looks good and energetic as usual. Hard to get used to the beard though.
