In the Iowa Update du Jour Bernie Sanders will claim the popular vote (both rounds) and may eke out a win in the SDE tally, or State Delegate Equivalents. Apparently Team Sanders organized new satellite caucuses and is turning in great results from them.
Uh, satellite caucuses? Say what? Let's give credit where due - the Iowa State Democrats really leaned into accommodating Bernie and implementing Operation Own Goal:
In particular, the campaign focused heavily on bringing people out to the satellite caucuses that were held across the state and in other parts of the world for Iowans who couldn’t make it to the 7 p.m. caucuses. This was the first year the party hosted satellite caucuses, and no other campaign seems to have invested serious resources in turning those voters out. With 41 state delegates available to be swept up, and fewer than 25 delegates currently separating Pete Buttigieg and Sanders, they could end up making the difference when the delegate count is finalized.
The first caucus was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, of all places and reports are that Sanders led the delegates there. Another was held in St. Petersburg, Florida, where former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is heavily on the airwaves. The first in Iowa was held at a UFCW union hall in Ottumwa, with Sanders winning all 14 of the final votes to net four precinct delegates, a relatively large pickup. At Drake University in Des Moines, workers and students went overwhelmingly for Sanders, giving him five delegates and Sen. Elizabeth Warren two, meaning that he netted five relative to Buttigieg....
In all, there were 87 satellite caucuses. According to Iowa Democratic Party rules, the total delegate value of those caucuses will be determined by satellite turnout and in proportion to the total number of people who came out to vote in the regular caucuses. They are to be worth some percent of the total, meaning that the four delegates Sanders won in Ottumwa, for instance, could actually rise or shrink in the final analysis. But what we know about those caucuses suggests that Sanders may have won those caucuses by enough to overcome his deficit with Buttigieg, which at the time of writing sits at 23.987 delegates with 86 percent of the precincts reporting.
Great. Now let's have the Democrats rewrite the rules for health care and pharmaceutical development.
IN OTHER NEWS: The sun rose in the East and the Senate acquitted Trump. The mini-surprises were a Romney defection but no aisle-crossing from Manchin (D, WV) or Sinema (D, AZ).
This is incredible team building. I absolutely love this man!

On the issue of DJT not expecting to win, he said so in a speech in Wisconsin in December 2016. I don’t know how to link stuff here but it was reported at Politico and other places.
But this is a sideshow. Whether DJT was surprised at his victory or not is not important. The main point is that *I* was shocked as hell. I fully confess that i never expected him to win. I was quite obviously mistaken. You can take that into account in trusting my political judgments.
Porch — it sounds like we agree that polls are not worthless my point remains that they are better than anecdotes.
TomR — you are right that the internal polls tend to be better than the public ones because the campaigns usually spend a lot more money on them. You are also right that low response rates are a problem for contemporary polling. But public polls are still a valuable indication of public opinion as long as one has a salt shaker handy. They are not precision instruments but not worthless either.

Debbie Lesko. Mark Meadows - I like his wife better than him because she supported me before he did. They all worked to elect me like their lives were at stake. Also Ron DeSantos, Governor of FL. Mike Johnson of LA, The other sides's worse nightmare - the hardest worker and the most legitimate human being - they tried to destroy him because he supported me - Devin Nunes!!!! (Standing ovation)
Scott Perry, John Ratcliffe a great lawyer, a man whose is braver than me and braver than everyone in the room - Steve Scalise. You are better looking now than before the accident! Since TK is a big fan of Sundance combined with his blog having a functional search engine here is a link to Sundance's articles involving James Baker.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/?s=james+baker
Based on all the Spygate related articles I have seen since the scandal broke, the evidence clearly supports the conclusion that James Baker was a key member of the Obama criminal cabal and intimately involved in the FISA abuse scandal. Baker was one of the first guys involved with FISA abuse that Wray got rid of.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/fbis-top-lawyer-said-to-be-reassigned/2017/12/21/2ac76640-e6b5-11e7-833f-155031558ff4_story.html
In regards to "Komey Kabuki", if there is evidence McCabe and Baker were allied against Comey would that be enough to point the needle in the direction that the real story behind Comey may not be what we think it is?

Yes, form a party of conscience behind Dudley DoRight Mutt. I fail to see any downside to that course of action.

Jane, great job summarizing the Trump appearance for those of us who've been stuck in meetings.
How's your iPlaid? Which clan is it? Armstrong? Stewart? Black Watch?

Buttplug is now citing "religion" as a reason for justifying late-term abortion of "disabled" children. (top story at The Federalist presently)
And he's the so-called "moderate" in the race.

Oh great; just tried to check my regional weather radar at NOAA:
NOAA does thoughtfully inform me that we've got a Tornado Watch till 6:00 pm and a Flood Warning till 8:00. Hopefully I won't have a story like Stephanie's to share. Yikes! and Double Yikes! Fortunately, I do live far enough uphill to avoid major flooding, and I pretty much always have enough supplies on hand to last till flooded roads drain off. The power of flowing water is awesome and not to be trifled with!

I've discovered that caulking an active drip is not very effective!
Flex Seal actually works! Lowes HD the usual haunts have it.
