AB,

You may be right but I challenge anyone to find a parking spot within 2 miles. You can for $40 and a free shuttle.

A few years ago there were lots of empty seats. Not today from what I can see.

YMMV

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Actually, the prices for NASCAR at Atlanta were getting discounted during the Obummer years. When the 'new normal' looked to be the blue collar getting shit on, yes they did reduce the stand sizes at some sites. Might be rethinking that now.

Sometimes, when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. One night at Cheers,a TV Sitcom, Cliff Clavin said to his buddy, Norm Peterson: "Well, ya see, Normmy, it's like this ... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But, naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers!"

I guess it's the oval thing, but I never have understood why 917s and GT40s screaming down the Mulsanne straight in the rain [and the dark!] or McClarens, Ferraris, Lotuses and Williams swooping through Eau Rouge and the Parabola can run in downpours on rain tires but Nascar and Indy cars fold their tents at the mere hint of rain.

Captain Hate

From the AoS book thread

"his (Mao's) intimate and intricate relationship with Stalin went back to the
1920s, ultimately bringing him to power; he welcomed Japanese occupation
of much of China; and he schemed, poisoned, and blackmailed to get his
way"

Stalin starved ten million to death in Ukraine, Mao did 'better' in China (seventy million). The old Soviets led the way in infiltrating the USA (e.g. Duranty's Pulitzer for covering up Ukraine genocide), and China also has leverage over our media.

imo the biggest threat to USA Liberty is the foreign infiltration (cartels from Mexico, China, Middle East, Russia and DeepState acting as its own country). They use bribery and threat to control our own government (and much of corporate America) and place their enforcer gangs in every major city. Our DeepState (as Mao did with Japan) invites them inside our house, to help destroy our sovereignty and liberty.

Obama loved Mao ... and was a great stooge for China, helping control the narrative ... on China's (communism's) behalf. We hope Trump/Pompeo are restructuring our alliances ... (Pompeo was just in Senegal, mentioning the lure of getting into relationships with snake China .. but Obama drew huge crowds there, Pompeo mostly ignored). An open internet helps, but the censors are hard at work.

Glad the powers that be are evacuating my fellow citizens from that cruise ship in Japan. Extremely likely that there are going to be way more infected cases from there than in the general population. That is far too "close quarters" for a mass quarantine.

Passengers aren't happy at facing another 14 day quarantine here--but they are dang lucky to be getting out of there.

Boy, the Daytona race officials must be totally pink pussy hat types. I live 25 miles north of the track and have not even seen a rain cloud over the track or my location. If it sprinkled it is the kind that dries itself up in minutes. Temp is 75F. No wind.

Trump has departed Daytona.

Jack is Back!

Full disclosure: I ran a NASCAR team for 6 months. Diamond Ridge Raceing with Steve Grissom and Elliot Sadler. Ran Charlotte once in close to a downpour. Had to change out the tires twice. Did Daytona in a rain swept track. Hard to understand this hold up since every crew comes with many types of tires for conditions: temperature, moisture even wind (yes it affects tires).

Of course, I was the most available engineer to my companies owner's son to make that grade as if I knew what I was doing. But I did develop a race monitoring program (software) for them to use which helped in a couple or races.

I was there in Phoenix when Davy Allison bought the farm. When I decided to get back to my day job since my oldest son the fishing captain was with me and almost got sick.

Manfred is a clown. Neither Houston’s ownership nor the players are sorry at all, not one little bit.

They should absolutely have been stripped of the 2017 World Series, the 2017 and 2019 AL pennants, and the 2017-2019 AL West titles. They should have been forced to take down the banners in the stadium on opening day with the crowd watching.

The Infamous Ignatz

--Does le mans or nurbergring stop for rain.--

The 24 hours of Le Mans and other endurance races do not normally stop, though any race including F1 ones can be stopped if conditions become impossible.
There are several different tracks and many different series that race at the Nurburgring so it's hard to answer that question.

Pelosi: I Ripped Up Trump’s State of the Union to ‘Get Attention’

Pelosi said, “I had no intention of doing that when we went into the State of the Union.”

She continued, “I was reading ahead. I knew what was there. I got through a third of it, and I thought this is terrible. I made a nitch on a couple of pages, thinking I ought to remember what’s on this page, this page. Then I realized that almost every page had something in it that was objectionable. So it wasn’t a planned thing.”

She added, “One of my disappointments is the fact that with all that we have done legislatively, whether its equal pay for equal work, raising the minimum wage, gun violence protection, issues that relate to our children, the list goes on, climate action now. We have very little press on it. And it seems if you want to get press, you have to get attention. I thought, well, let’s get attention on the fact that what he said here today was not true.”

OT but maybe relates to some of the brain discussion. Do the musicians here consistently have snippets of songs running through your heads?

I ask because I have been submerged in Oz rehearsals the last two weeks. I find that most mornings I wake up with a musical number from the show running in my head. Usually, it's different every morning and it pops up throughout the day.

Before this, I know I occasionally hear a song and get it "stuck" in my head but not daily or even weekly. I started to wonder if I'm musically deprived and this is a common thing for other people.

Extraneus

Do the musicians here consistently have snippets of songs running through your heads?

I do, just about every day, almost all day and even at night. Half the time I don't realize it until it gets monotonous and I have to try to get the earworm out of my head if the same tune lasts over a day.

Btw, I find that country music erases earworms without creating new ones, but I only resort to that in emergency situations. (I'm not a fan.)
