We're under 30 hours to go in Mrs JimSunny's fourteen day "house arrest".
No symptoms for her.
No symptoms for anyone she saw in China.
We were mostly worried she could have been exposed on the flight home, which went through Taiwan. But, fingers crossed, nothing so far and confidence is rising.
The next challenge: hope we avoid getting exposed through our local American community. So far, though, every other country other than China seems to have successfully put on the brakes.

From the end of the last thread —
Hey, Carlisle is just down the road from me; it's not that bad. At least not until it was announced that Vindman was expected.
Posted by: hrtshpdbox | February 11, 2020 at 09:42 AM
No offense intended. I looked up Carlisle based on another person's comment about the place on Facebook. What I found was a YouTube video of someone driving through or by Carlisle. It seemed like a nice, very quiet, average American town — not the hub of Government or the military that I imagine Vindman sees himself in.
Those of you who know something about the War College could tell us just what type of assignment Vindman might be given here. (Actually, I often found that the best assignments were off the beaten path, so to speak.) Whatever Vindman is given to do, I hope that it doesn't involve National Security and that he's carefully watched.

My uncle had a two year assignment at the War College (engineer with an expertise in logistics, retired a Colonel). He and his wife love old houses so they bought a huge stone home on the outskirts of Gettysburg that had been a field hospital during the battle a mile from the house.
We stayed there overnight and it was the creepiest place - I didn't sleep a wink. We've always lived in old houses and our current one had a ghost, but this old Gettysburg house had many many ghosts. So much sadness and despair in those walls, bloodstains in the floorboards.

One of the journalists is black,
There are some doozy quotes:
Jones’ colleague, Jordan Chariton, pointed out: “I’ve gone to Trump events and never had to deal with this!”
Inside the venue, Chariton — a Bernie Sanders supporter — said Buttigieg aides approached them and suggested that they had “snuck in.” Both Chariton and Jones had media credentials for the event.
I felt I was singled out,” Jones told Fox News. “I’m not sure whether it was because of the company I work for or the color of my skin. But I was definitely singled out because they didn’t do that to anyone else there that I saw.”
Buttigieg has been under fire for his poor track record with black voters during his dismal two-term tenure as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Buttigieg has tried to turn things around by pandering to black voters, but is still polling at 0% among black primary voters.
Lots more. including screen caps of tweets and 2 videos.

>I stand by my assertion. There is ample knowledge of seditious behavior and ample evidence, even admission that laws were broken and yet no one of any consequence has been charged, let alone prosecuted.
I get it. Until yesterday nobody from the NSC was being punished. Then 70 were all at once. Kind of a big number that seems to have generated a pretty lukewarm reaction. I doubt that process started after the impeachment sham and I also doubt that they weren't watching these people for a long time to see who exactly was involved.
It would be great if the DOJ published a timeline and gave us daily reports of what they are doing but that's not how it works. Not in properly functioning DOJ that doesn't leak and do it's business in the media.
All we get are peaks at what is going on behind the scenes and you have to try and piece together what is happening from that. And then you have to rely on the people doing the jobs. You either believe that Trump has got this or that he is being led around by the people he chose to get to the bottom of this corruption and the corruption goes very, very deep.
I've been pretty consistent that I didn't think we would start to see real action until after the investigations and impeachment of Trump were over so I'm not real moved by the constant claim of why isn't it happening NOW! I think yesterday was a nice opening salvo to what I expect will be Trump's response.

Interesting thread over in Althouse. Bloomberg could be toast.
Mayor Bloomberg said: "Ninety-five percent of murders- murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16-25. That's true in New York, that's true in virtually every city. And that's where the real crime is. And the way you get guns out of the kids’ hands is to throw them up against the wall and frisk them."
From 2015. Of course he’s not wrong, though 95% is hyperbole.

When I heard Bloomberg had won Dixville Notch,I thought to myself, maybe he could put some of his billions to good use restoring The Balsams. The restoration of The Balsams would bring jobs to the North Country economy and restore pride to the once grand resort. The current owners are trying to restore the property and the state of NH has considered floating a bond. The White Mountains used have many grand resorts. My father was a 16 year old chauffeur at the Crawford House during summer vacation. He'd transport the patrons from the train station to the hotel in Crawford Notch. Those days are long gone.

According to this article, Obama's last 3 years had more jobs (8.1 million) than Trump (6.3 million<).
Even if true (and of course the time frames were chosen to diminish Trump), the real point, which is probably impossible to make effectively, is that 6.3 million jobs starting seven years into an expansion is much harder than 8.1 million starting from the economy being in the toilet.

--it looks like the VP thing was either specific to the cold war or accidental--
Bush 41 was also VP, not just CIA Big Cheese.

Ig touche. Obama spent 100 plus days in the Senate. And that means 300 packs o'Kools.
Capn Hate, that timeline is utter BULLSHIT.
Kennedy served 3 terms in Congress and was 2 years into his SECOND term in the Senate.
G H W Bush was Congressman, UN Ambassador, Chairman of the GOP,
Ambassador to China, head oF CIA, and 8 years VP.

THE NAVY PLANS TO RETIRE THE FIRST FOUR LITTORAL COMBAT SHIPS: “…the oldest of the vessels was commissioned just 12 years ago, the youngest a mere six years ago.” Why retire relatively new ships? Too many “troublesome” problems. Here’s StrategyPage’s take from 2019, a “Leadership” post entitled “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.”

Mini-dixville. Is that one of those "that's what she said" jokes?

It might be difficult to can a CS’s ass but it is doable - provided you have violations on record & in writing. IDK how the feds handle civil service hearings & any disciplinary decisions but I know one Lt from Cambridge FD who made it personal ... threatening his boss, his wife, their family & other family members Hint: you don’t ever mess with my family or anyone else family!
Took several committee hearings but he was initially demoted w/loss of pay He retaliated more by showing up at my door, was caught outside my door one night; he also called about a special package to deliver to my hub; he tried to run us both off the road with kids in the car!! ...at the final hearing, he was stripped of all duties and finally fired. He showed no remorse but cried like a baby.
That saying - what the wife don’t know, won’t hurt her? It’s untrue. It hurts deeply. His fam resides in NH where I hoped to one day retire, which is a bummer. I sure hope my neighbors above me vote overwhelmingly for Trump!
Ended up sick Saturday after a chance of free rally tix over the weekend but I so wanted to go because I doubt PDJT will visit here at all. From where I live Manchester NH is about a 1 1/2 hrs trip - I likely would never had made it inside for all of the fun!
I’m so embarrassed about Warren the boldface liar I hope she loses today
Mitt the nit might want to learn how to read about how this impeachment came about prior to claiming he had to follow his religion to do the right thing? He ought to know better about exploiting his faith.
Midget Mike grew up in next town over from SOMERVILLE which is Medford and that protected snot thinks he can accuse Trump of being racist? Screw him! Also Butthead pulled the same thing yesterday about Trump being a racist - Dems must lie to win votes which is why I hope they all lose bigly today.
Steph your jokes are awesome!
DrJ - my deepest sympathies & prayers come your way. So very sad.
Take care

I didn't realize until I read Bloomberg's wiki that he has been living with but not married to the same gal for the last 20 years.
And his past comments re women are gonna kind of close the pussy tape avenue of attack should he buy the nomination.

henry @ 12:42
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but:
Was anyone in the Navy demoted or discharged over this billion-dollar, multi-year debacle? Were any civilian employees demoted or fired? Were any of the contractors involved fined or blacklisted from future contracts?

Hi, Mikey! How's that treasure trove of video history look now?
Saagar Enjeti
@esaagar
Bloomberg has a lot of sympathy for Putin and a Xi Jingping and unlike some stupid scrubbed Trump Tower Moscow deal has ACTUAL massive financial entanglements with authoritarian governments
But let me guess at how much coverage this will get
Josh Rogin @joshrogin
Mike Bloomberg, in newly surfaced 2015 remarks, compares Putin's attack on Ukraine to US annexing California: "What would America do if we had a continuous country and a lot of people in that country wanted to be Americans. Does California ring a bell? We just went and took it."

Bela1, sorry you couldn't go, but Trump will be back in NH soon. It's one of Parscale's targets to flip as I'm sure you already know.

DrJ, somehow I missed your sad news over the weekend. How shocking for you and your friends. I hope the time you are spending reaching out and talking to each other is helpful to you.

I'm a little surprised Michelle Caruso-Cabrera is running as a Dem.
When I used to see her on CNBC she was one of the few who went out of her way to thump prog talking points.
