"Are you implying Mueller conducted a thorough investigation and allowed the facts and evidence to dictate what his findings would be?"
Posted by: Tom R | February 12, 2020 at 06:08 PM
There's no point in going down that rabbit hole so you can spin that propeller on your Internet Sloof Beanie and drown us in the bilge about the MR.
What did Mueller himself conclude about their process and findings? I'm not interested.

Once again, no evidence that occurred. Mueller and Weissman could have scored a PR victory by claiming the investigation was still in progress but Barr was forcing them to wrap it up. Didn't happen.

How many individual charges are the Avenatti jurors evaluating?
Posted by: Captain Hate | February 12, 2020 at 06:33 PM
I didn’t know that “deception” required evidence? I even used your vaunted Barr/Mueller/ChurchBros factoid.
I don’t understand your “PR victory” theory. Barr was privy to the tangled mess that Mueller and Weismann weaved. They couldn’t have gone full Comey at the point he stopped them without suffering an even bigger embarrassment.
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 12, 2020 at 06:34 PM
Rosenstein was supervising Mueller and his goons; he surely knew what they'd scrutinized and if they were at the end of the evidence road.
Posted by: Captain Hate | February 12, 2020 at 06:37 PM
CH, three charges as I recall.
Posted by: henry | February 12, 2020 at 06:40 PM
KK @ 6:18
Who thwarted Weissman is the basis for the white hat award?
Mueller thwarting Weissman is a dot connected to an earlier dot that Rosenstein knew the 14 Angry Democrats were corrupt and he wanted them removed from their regular job in the DOJ while the Horowitz IG investigation was going on.
This is a point where CH and I disagree on when it comes to Rosenstein and Mueller. IMO either Rosenstein and Mueller are both good guys working for Team Trump or they are both bad guys part of the Deep State/Swamp trying to destroy Trump. IMO Rosenstein can't be a good guy on Team Trump and Mueller a bad guy part of the Deep State/Swamp.
That is why I mentioned Rosenstein's heroic sendoff at the DOJ when he retired. Seems fairly obvious to me the reason he got a heroic sendoff is because AG Sessions and AG Barr thought he deserved it for some reason. There is no way in hell Rosenstein gets that kind of heroic treatment if he was part of the Obama criminal cabal trying to destroy Trump.

How can people still stand to argue about the idea that Comey, Mueller and Rosenstein were all great patriots in league with Trump (and Flynn!) on a complex and deeply clever op?
To me it's so silly that I can't give it ten seconds of thought anymore. Even if I live to be 100, there's just not enough time to waste on it.

Just read the Kaine bill on war with Iran.
Didnt the WH already legally act to kill Salemeini according to the WP ascribed to the WH for fighting in Iraq? The HoR resolution past in Jan was about a declaration of war by POTUS which those pussies were afraid Trump might do becquse heez Hitler or something.
Kaine thinks Trump's withdrawal fr the "deal" with Iran was proof that Trump the barbarian was lumbering into war with Iran.
Okay. Congressional vigilance over it's declaratory war powers. But they will not succeed in limiting the POTUS' power to execute his legal duties as CIC--- which killling that psychotic sumbitch Salameini was perfectly in line with our war policy in Iraq.

Please, Democrats, do the smart thing and coalesce quickly around one of the three moderates-Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, or Michael Bloomberg- who are still standing after the first two contests. The future of our democracy may depend on it.

It is very important for our Country’s SECURITY that the United States Senate not vote for the Iran War Powers Resolution. We are doing very well with Iran and this is not the time to show weakness. Americans overwhelmingly support our attack on terrorist Soleimani....
....If my hands were tied, Iran would have a field day. Sends a very bad signal. The Democrats are only doing this as an attempt to embarrass the Republican Party. Don’t let it happen!

I think it is a sin to spend this much money on political campaigns when there is homelessness and hunger in our country.
New election rules.
3 months to campaign.
4 regional primary 12 states each in The North, South, East and West.Alaska and Hawaii can go on one of those days
Every 4 years rotate which region goes first.
Then vote.
Use money for conventions to support medical research and promote charitable causes.

Our campaign needs critical funds to reach voters and caucus-goers, so we’ve set an ambitious goal: $7 million before the Nevada caucuses.

I lost a potentially great comment, but I still want to go on record as concluding that Sessions is a deep state NeverTrumper.
Huber lauds Rosenstein for siccing Mueller on Trump, then Sessions appoints Huber to an obviously - in retrospect - bogus investigation?
Meanwhile, Sessions refuses to resign, even after Trump lambasted him on Twitter as being compromised.
I don't see the slightest ethical basis for Sessions' actions unless he was in league with McCabe and Rosenstein on the Article 25 caper.

Extraneus,
I reluctantly am coming around to your way of thinking.
Why did he DEMAND the AG spot when Trump had someone else in mind, and why when the Conflict of Interest problem came up, didn't he ask to move to another position or go back to the Senate?
Something fishy there.

In search of aphorism, likely at the expense of elucidation...
The problem with Pontifex Pete is not that he's gay, it's that his priggish plonk is pressed from the same sour grapes scythed for all the wine vats of Wokendom. He has trampled out a venomous vintage of jazz-handsy Christianity and has loosed the Army of the Constant Whine on the Milvian Bridge under their new token: a cross of scolds.

To AP:
The Associated Press might want to add this to the proposed Nadler/Barr hearing article:
"Nadler says in his letter: ‘we have repeatedly warned you and your predecessors that the misuse of our criminal justice system for political purposes is both dangerous to our democracy and unacceptable to the House Judiciary Committee.’
"At issue in the hearing will be whether Trump’s associates used the criminal justice system for political purposes or stepped in to stop misuse of the criminal justice system for political purposes."
It offers readers a perspective to better understand the issue at hand.
Thank you.
