Are you ready for some football? I expect the coronavirus to return this fall (if it ever goes away) and the fall football season to be either cancelled or played as Made For TV spectacles in empty stadiums.
The second most dangerous play in football is leaving your QB unprotected on the blind side. The most dangerous play is getting between the owners and their money. Bet on empty stadiums. Play ball!
New “quick test” approved. Shipping starts next week, article doesn’t say at what volume. (None of these announcements are instantaneous).

The “ Exponential Model” used by the elite academic experts predicts Apocalypse of 100s of 1000s, even millions of deaths from SARS CoV-2 , however, those predictions are not being empirically and scientifically verified by the data meaning that President Trump’s protocols, policies and leadership have defied the Apocalypse (and the elite academic experts). As of 23 March, there are 473 deaths. The JohnsHopkins mapping reports the specific geographical locations. I predict that by end of April the deaths will NOT exceed 1500 and the COVID-19 will have been contained and mitigated. However, seasonal influenza will continue to rampage.

Going to call my worthless Senators now on their local, State and Federal telephone numbers now and let them know I am pissed.

They have a substantial base of True Believers, maybe 30% of the population who will follow them to perdition.
Figure a likewise number of upstanding geniuses like us. That leaves 40% of people who are enticed by the free goodies progs dangle like angler fish and who are persuadable on moral issues either way. But they don't respond well when the angler fish moves and they see past the bait to the open maw trying to devour them. The progs blatantly politicizing this crisis is the most foolhardy and risky thing they have undertaken perhaps ever. Unless Trump suddenly stops being Trump, I don't see how it ends well for them.

I'm convinced Trump could gain 10-20 points in his approval rating with this simple announcement;
"Yo, fellow citizens there is a problem. There are shortages in our nations grocery and paper goods stores. There is no shortage overall, but there is a problem. The problem is YOU, ya dumbasses! Quite buying every damn thing as fast as you can because you think there's going to be a shortage, That is what makes the shortages you stupid assholes. Grow a brain and knock it off!"

I went to three different stores yesterday looking for eggs. None anywhere. WTH do you do with that many eggs? You can't freeze them. They don't last that long in the fridge. Either people are going to be eating omelettes til they can't stand em or they're going to be throwing them out by the millions in a few weeks.

--I kept meaning to tell you that I don't think globalization will become a casualty. I don't like to be a pessimist, hopefully I'm just being realistic, but the interconnectedness (is that a word? :) of world economies has gone too far to change. But, it all depends on Trump and getting back the house.--
I think you're wrong Joan and here's why. Nothing ever goes too far to change. Everything changes except human nature, which is predictable in itself but whose default effect in the world is fairly chaotic. So change is constant.
Globalization is already a casualty. Whether from overconfidence or desperation China has been exposed as simply another malignant communist dictatorship bent on enslaving the rest of the world. The facade Deng so carefully created has been destroyed by Xi in a few short years, helped along greatly by a big orange thing and a tiny invisible one the last three years.
I have no doubt weedeaters and tennis shoes and maybe even iphones will still be built in China. But rare earths, medicines, strategic industries of all sorts will have their supply chains yanked from China and the theft of IT will be greatly curtailed.
And I don't think it depends on Trump and congress though they will do a lot to make it happen. It depends on the people and the shareholders who will demand that simply for the safety of their investments that their exposure to a now obviously hostile and unstable power be curtailed.
Tienanmen Square changed nothing because that was an internal struggle that we hated to see but practically could do nothing about. This is a war we are being forced to wage because China, regardless of whether the origins of the Chinese virus are natural or manmade and regardless of whether its release was accidental or intentional, the very best case that can be made is China is dangerously incompetent and dishonest and when caught out resorts to astoundingly dishonest and dishonorable means to deny the obvious.
A secure nation that is safe to be part of the regular order of things would have admitted the existence of this bug and tried to stop its spread and would have begged the world's forgiveness when it's duplicity and incompetence were revealed.
As I said that's the best case. The only other possibility reveals a government so sinister it will have to be isolated as North Korea is to protect the rest of the world from it.

Instead, they send out their foreign minister to tweet laughable conspiracy theories. (Meanwhile, everyday Chinese aren't allowed on Twitter.) It reeks of desperation.
They're always big on apologies, as in making people apologize to them. Yet they can't bring themselves to apologize to us, when a real apology would probably be accepted by many. (Not me; I want them canceled, especially Xi.)

not offering this link as a definitive piece. there are others. e.g. "The conduct of Dr. Fauci, and others, has compromised the basic principles of ethics, public trust and the most fundamental concepts that define "scientific integrity".

Ig, your 11.28. I hope you're right. I was being pessimistic. Perhaps because we lived abroad so long and watched so many American executives live and breathe globalism. It was like being there, London, Paris, Milan, Rome, gave them an elitism. The American (bankers, and merchant bankers, especially their wives were the biggest snobs). They were wealthy. Many considered themselves 'above' ordinary Americans back home. The money and deals flow. I can't see corporations giving that up unless taxes and tariffs really make them squirm and become detrimental to their bottom line. It's all about the money.
