Life is good if you're a Democrat.

You can be found unconscious in a hotel room in which a male escort had suffered a meth overdose and you get to graciously withdraw from political life while blaming depression.

Republicans don't enjoy that privilege. Only Democrats. Especially lefty progs.

Yep.

So MG,

What are you doing in response to the virus, if anything?

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

LOL. and Ha! Maybe 40 years ago....

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Went to read a footnote and it was at the NYT and their veil of greedy doom descended, blocking my perusal.
I reckon in this time of crisis they should have the blue blooded patriotism to rescind their outrageous surcharges and corporate privileged greed and let people read their schlock for free.
Of course that would mean more people would be misinformed.
Never mind.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

This bit from JiB's earlier Nobel guy link is interesting;

New numbers were being reported every day by various entities, such as the World Health Organization (WHO). Levitt started sending regular reports to his Chinese friends, and their popularity led to interviews on Chinese television, for example on CNN-equivalent CGTN. Based on the diminishing number of infection cases and deaths, he said, the virus will probably disappear from China by the end of March.

MissMarple2

Please heed these recommendations regarding the coronavirus. We all have a role to play in preventing the community spread of this virus and keeping ourselves, our loved ones, and our neighbors safe. https://t.co/0VaaGsPghU

Emperor Xi is pushing his luck with this bullshit about the virus originating in Maryland. He should be bowing down in apology, but they've become arrogant.

I hope and assume that Trump has already asked military advisers for current options to weaken China, with one objective being taking Xi out.

This is the closest thing to wartime conditions that most of us can remember, and guess who's most responsible? Our biggest adversary, who btw has many powerful and influential Americans bribed. And now they're pushing shit about us creating the virus and bringing it to China?

Time for a reckoning.

i took the liberty of posting MG's analysis---- quite a few thank yous but hundreds of head explosions and calls for POTUS to be arrested.

there are a number of individuals who have asked where i get my information. one said she considers herself well- informed. i told her to think of me and mine as the backbone of Deplorable nation and that we'll be voting in November.

on the n. berkeley app one fool quoted a former HHS Obama twat named LEAVITT who said something about what we do before a pandemic will seem adequate and what we look back on will seem wholly inadequate.

LEAVITT was quoted as saying people would do well to follow Obama era " guidance" re Corona.

i posted the Nobel prize winner LEVITT's article links.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Emperor Xi is pushing his luck with this bullshit about the virus originating in Maryland. He should be bowing down in apology, but they've become arrogant.--

No kidding. For most of January the doctors and public officials in Wuhan knew they had a new SARS like virus and they did nothing to stop travel or notify other countries until the day before the first case was diagnosed here in WA [Jan 21] from a guy who had been to Wuhan. All seven cases diagnosed in the US after that for the rest of the month until Jan 31st when the travel ban was put in place were people who had been to Wuhan. Undoubtedly many of the other clusters that got going later had the same connection with undiagnosed cases of people returning from there.
Where would Italy, Iran, the US and other countries be if Xi and Company had acted like adults rather dictatorial children?
Apparently the lesson Xi learned from SARS was courtesy of Barney the Dinosaur; caring means sharing.

Updated Monday, March 16, 5:15 pm, MDT

2019 Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2

Due to supply constraints, limits on capacity, and extraordinary demand for testing,
ARUP can no longer accept orders for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 by PCR test.

The local Burger King and Mickie D's were both drive thru only today (in addition to the announced CFA drive thru only announced last night).

I picked up my Kroger online order today and about 1/3 of it was out of stock. Meat, deli, Dawn detergent, lettuce, cucumbers and more (I didn't order paper products), so I placed another order for all that they didn't have today for Wednesday to see what gets filled.

I think I will mosey up to the local butcher in the AM and see if they have any meat. They had posted on Friday that they were delaying opening on Saturday to 'catch up.'

I see a lot of criticism of Trump for calling #coronavirus the Chinese virus. Please understand that the Chinese government is engaged in a global propaganda campaign to tell everyone that the virus was created and spread by the U.S. military. We have to do something.

It's important to make sure that there is no racism against Asians and Asian-Americans. It's also important to recognize the geopolitical reality that the Chinese government is engaged in extremely hostile deception to foment conspiracies about the US.

Marlene

Sorry Jane, I nodded out after supper. :) Yes,the primary is still scheduled.

I placed a Kroger order over the weekend and it could not be picked up until tomorrow (Tuesday afternoon.) I hadn't considered that a lot of it may be missing. I thought (from what I've been reading about how re-stocking works) that the reason for the several days' delay was so that items could be available.

MM - What was the typical wait before all of this started?

An Ohio court officially denied a request to delay the state’s primary election after calls from the Governor, as coronavirus continues to spread rapidly throughout the U.S.

Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine suggested Monday that the Tuesday primary should be postponed due to fears of the virus spreading. Ohio is the fourth state to suspend it’s primary election since the coronavirus has ramped up.

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Mom2two and MM:

I have been on line ordering since November and usually had my choice of next day if I placed an order the night before - same day if I ordered in the morning. Now it is 2 days out for delivery. As far as the delay/out of stock goes... they stock the shelves every evening and throughout the day and the pickers pull from the same shelves you would be picking from if you were in the store. Kroger generally has no 'backstock' except on some meats/frozen foods and dairy and rely on JIT for the non perishables. Chips and some other items are not stocked by Kroger but are done by the vendors for Lay's or Entemann's or Coca Cola, etc. You are more likely to get your on line order completed if you pick an early morning delivery time. Today's p/u was 4 pm and I paid the price.

Momto2

MM - That is quite a difference as I ordered around 2 pm on Saturday and the first available pick-up was Tuesday after 2 pm. I hope most of my order is available...first time using this service.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I can't find mortality rates by age group for coroney-coroney anywhere except China.
There it was less than half a percent until you got to geezerdom where it quickly shot up to almost 15% for those over 80.
China was overwhelmed and their healthcare system stinks so not sure those are transferable at all to us.

Momto2

Thanks for the info. Stephanie! I may continue to do this as it is a time saver and probably a $ saver as well as it eliminates impulse purchases.

MissMarple2

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Narciso,

Perhaps I should change that to "politicians will do anything for a headline."

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Barbara, same type blurb on the Kroger, Publix and Walmart sites... some of the employees running carts back today were not even in Kroger uniforms (shirts), so they probably got hired and started all in the same day. It usually takes a few days for them to get your shirt in.

Just an FYI, when I was out of work about 10 years ago, I pulled a stint at Kroger for Christmas $$, so I know the procedures/back of store and habits. Back then you were required to go to Kroger University in Tucker for training before you could start, but it appear they have totes blown off normal HR to get bodies thrown at the current problem. I am curious what they are now doing about the background check and drug testing, though.

Nothing like running by LabCorp or Quest to get a drug screening done for employment and getting CV while you sit in the waiting room next to someone there for a CV test. Yikes!
