I hope you're sitting down - Bernie has released cost and revenue estimates for his 70's era bong-induced fantasies proposed plans and they don't add up. From many candidates I'll pick this passage as my current favorite:
Any credible economist will assert that raising taxes by $30 or $40 trillion would substantially harm entrepreneurship and economic growth, which would dampen the new revenues. Instead, Sanders assumes that these taxes would bring a burst of new economic growth that saves $3.6 trillion over the decade from new tax revenues and less need for safety net spending. No economic analysis is provided defending these extraordinarily unconventional assumptions.
Apparently there are a host of would-be entrepreneurs chained up by our current system and waiting only for exorbitant taxes and a several new phone books of regulations before they start hiring.
Maybe!
Do not EVER short something unless you know something very, very specific.
Do not ACT unless you know what everyone else knows.
Now you can step back and decide what others may know.

The disruptions are starting now as a direct result of quarantines.

Some inventories for grocery store shelves are produced at a, more or less, constant rate. I've always thought they regulated those inventories with periodic sale prices to clear out inventory build-ups. If they're having trouble keeping up with demand I expect we will see fewer sale price discounts on those items.
Savvy shoppers have been trained to wait for the sale prices and then buy in a quantity to last until the next sale.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fauci-says-anything-is-possible-when-asked-about-widespread-coronavirus-quarantine
For a guy who has been "muzzled" he seems rather outspoken.
“I don’t think it would be as draconian as nobody in or nobody out,” Fauci said. “But if we continue to get cases like this, particularly at the community level, there will be what we call 'mitigation,' where we have to essentially do social distancing, keep people out of crowded places, take a look at seriousness, do you really need to travel, and I think it’s particularly important among the most vulnerable.”
He added: “You know, you don’t want to alarm people, but given the spread we’ve seen, you know, anything’s possible. And that’s the reason why we’ve got to be prepared to take whatever action is appropriate to contain and mitigate the outbreak.”
And it's rather common-sensical, if people don't modify their behavior when necessary we can impose needed controls.

Really cool.
Last Monday about 4:30 in the afternoon a flock of geese went overhead heading north when they suddenly veered east. I'm thinking guys you just made a wrong turn and then I thought I knew where they were going. Overpeck Park the most northern body of water in the NJ Meadowlands that includes Overpeck Creek.
Northern NJ topography is a little odd. The Meadowlands are tidal all the way up to Englewood, which is a spawning area for fish. I've seen it. Thousands of fish congregated in very shallow water fed by water coming off the backside of the Palisades. It's right under an I-95 causeway near where I used to live in Leonia. It is not a natural environment. It's channelized to control flooding. Concrete walls, concrete floor. Depending on rainfall it's 3 inches deep or 3 feet deep. The fish prefer low water levels for spawning. High levels of rushing water push them back into Overpeck Creek.
That brook, creek, or stream empties into Overpeck Creek which is fed by other southerly bound brooks that create a small lake in Leonia that flows to the Meadowlands.
The odd part is if you go 1-2 miles north of that, somewhere in Tenafly, the water all flows north to Piermont, NY.
Somehow, as a child, I got it in my head that water always flows toward the Equator, so always thought that was really strange. You know the thing about toilet bowl swirls going in the other direction in the Southern Hemisphere.
Since then I've learned that elevation and topography can cause water to flow in any direction.

To answer your question on why that part of italy in particular, a writer several weeks ago pointed out that chinese is the 5th largest immigrant population in that area and that there were direct business ties to wuhan. I forget the reason.
Any coffee shop you would go in in the area, whether as a tourist or a professional. tended to have chinese workers waiting on customers. Will try to locate it as it was quite informative.
I thought this from Rosett article sandy linked was quite on point--
President Trump's restrictions imposed in January on China travel (much criticized in the media at the time) helped buy time to get ahead of this epidemic. The CDC has since been squandering that lead. The CDC botched the production of tests for this virus, made far too few, which turned out to work badly, imposed highly restrictive guidelines on who qualified to be tested, and overall wasted weeks of precious time, as the virus itself escaped the CDC's snail-mail surveillance and testing methods, and began hop-scotching around the country.

Video retweeted by President Trump is the first ever to be branded 'manipulated media' by Twitter after it falsely appeared to show Joe Biden endorsing him
Dan Scavino shared a post Saturday captioned: 'Sleepy Joe in St. Louis, Missouri today: "We can only re-elect @realDonaldTrump"'
In Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, Joe Biden had actually said: 'We can only reelect Donald Trump if in fact we get engaged in this circular firing squad here'
Director of Social Media at the White House denied his post was 'manipulated'
But Twitter states in its new rules: 'You may not deceptively share synthetic or manipulated media that are likely to cause harm'
By the time the micro-blogging site had slapped the 'manipulated content' label on it, the video had been viewed 5.2million times

Mel re shorts.
I recall learning about shorting stocks when I was a mere lad.
What stuck with me to this day is that when going long, the worst you can lose is what you paid; when short the potential for loss is infinite.

@realDonaldTrump
“Trump has outmastered the Deep State. He’s light years ahead of us.” MSDNC. I disagree. We have a long way to go. There are still some very bad, sick people in our government - people who do not love our Country (In fact, they hate our Country!).

@realDonaldTrump
The Obama/Biden Administration is the most corrupt Administration in the history of our Country!

“Is there any kind of business connection between that area and China?”
rse answered above re immigrants, but for business connections I would surmise textiles.

I see Ross Douchehat says that Trump is not entirely to blame, but Orange Man Bad anyway, or something, for "delaying" a month. As if he can snap his fingers and make things happen. Apparently he's not the Mussolini that everyone in the MSM claims he is, but they don't see the logical train wreck in their viewpoints.
