Been in touch with kids and family and all is well. Going a bit stir crazy but somehow filling in the gaps in time with some meaningful work.

The garage is spotless and ready for some upcoming projects. We'll see whether those take place.

I hope that all are having a lovely day. Hope is risen. It is time for us to plan for when things get back to the nw normal. We don't know what the future holds, but with hope and hard work, all is possible.

Happy Easter from the great Northwest. Been beautiful out here for over a week and at least another one to follow. Mid 50s and dry. The Rufous hummers have been ravaging the feeder. Set up my spotter scope to eyeball them on the feeder. They are full frame. With their backs to the sun their little chest marking feathers flare like charcoal on a windy fire.

The only bad news is that my sidekick made another trip to the local hospital to jumpstart his afib heart. Second time in a few months. So that means he has to go off island to see his cardiologist in Bellingham Monday, which puts him on another 14 day clock. Fortunately our work flow is at a good point to walk away for awhile, so I’m thinking about pretending this is a good time for a vacation. I have a 10 yr old boat project and a 3 yr old car project that I otherwise can’t seem to focus on.

Trump announces there are 2 medicines that could really help battle this virus. D’s and their 🐶 in the media immediately attack him calling him irresponsible. Accusing him of giving people false hope and started to claim nothing has been approved to treat the virus.
Fast forward 6 days and NY governor Cuomo AKA Nipples says the same thing. Says there's two drugs they will start trying to treat this virus. Suddenly the D’s and media all start saying about Cuomo this is what great leadership looks like. Gtfoh you lying dishonest scumbags have no shame, no credibility or any resemblance of integrity within you all. All that matters to these #%**%% is to attack Trump it certainly is not American lives. The media is the enemy of the people and that has become a undeniable unequivocal fact.

Daughter says there's been several at the hospital but that she's personally treated just one COVID sufferer who was hospitalized for three days and released. I think they hospitalized him solely because of the diagnosis; she says he exhibited typical flu symptoms, was in his 40's, and wasn't actually in bad shape. She also notes that non-COVID people coming to the ER seem to be waiting longer than usual to decide to come in, as they're sicker than usual. The son-in-law is in the COVID unit at a different hospital and he did, alas, have one patient who didn't make it.

I made my living beating up engineers who didn't have their shit together, while at the same time teaching the younger ones by example. Not bragging, that's just what I ended up doing. I probably would have been happier doing something else. But after spending over 30 years reviewing and critiquing data analyses, I'm finding the medical field very frustrating. I know there are many smart people involved, so I'm concluding that there are unspoken impediments to their ability to report the facts. HIPPA? Something like that. Some legal threat. Otherwise, we'd be buried in data by now, including on eyeglasses. Whatever it is is pernicious and impeding our ability to intelligently respond to current conditions. I realize this is a feature to some people rather than a bug, but it's quite frustrating.

The music was from 6 years ago, but the pic was from my 3-week trip to Italy in 2007. I gave a paper in Milan and traveled the whole country for 3 weeks after that, ending at my aunt and uncle's place in Ogliastro Cilento, where my uncle met my aunt while stationed there when she was 18 and ended up marrying her, very near where my father and his brother was born in Agropoli. Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could've saved more lives.

Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large.
