Texas is open!!

We were running late but finally got out of the house to hit the drive thru (kids' choice). Saw so many restaurants with cars and open dining rooms - mostly I guess at 25%, but one sports bar/wings place with EVERY parking space full. Might have been a show of support with folks getting drive thru and then parking in the lot to eat it, or not - this is the kind of place I might expect to defy the order. :)

I can hear traffic on the big road near the house. First time in weeks.

Sounds so sweet!!

I am lucky in that my house was built on former farm land and not that Georgia red clay that much of Georgia has. OTOH, I'm about 7 miles from Stone Mountain and if you dig more than about 4 feet in the yard, you will hit solid granite.

Stone Mountain extends outward from the mountain as far north/east as SC and as far South as Macon. Supposedly.

Let's just say it took blasting to get our septic field installed with lots of extra drainage lengths than are normally required.

I don't even want to think about the radon emissions.

They've been doing that for weeks. Along with eggs, chicken and paper products.

The stupid thing is it is limited to 2 packages of ground beef so 2 1 lb packs or 2 3 lb packs are equal in the store policy. Stupid. Now I have to buy 3 lb packs and bring it home and separate it and vacuum seal it and freeze it individually instead of 6 1 lb packs that could go straight into the freezer.

MJW

Two days ago, I submitted a question to the Covid Tracking Project about the 164 deaths supposedly reported for April 29th by Indiana. Here is the response (with emphasis added):

Thanks for reporting this issue. It seems that there is an issue with the screenshots cutting off. If you visit Indiana's dashboard, and scroll down all the way, you will see the suspected deaths reported on the lower bottom corner of the screen.

The CDC has issued a guidance on 4/14 that case counts and death counts include confirmed and probable cases. There is more information about the definitions of confirmed and suspected here [with a link to CDC]

We are going to standardize this guideline across all the states that report both numbers. We are also tracking the number of confirmed cases and deaths and we will enahnce our reporting to expose those numbers on the website.

The CTP's Indiana data for April 28th did not include the probable deaths, which had accumulated from the beginning of the epidemic. All the probable deaths were added in one day; hence, the big jump in the total.

I expect this change from reporting only confirmed deaths to reporting both confirmed and probable deaths largely explains the seeming increase in deaths in the recent U.S. counts.

Melinda

You know what MJW? You’re complete disregard of the anomaly of your data set that might include incentivized “diagnosis” makes you’re “Every day,casual..” introduction of new, New!, “”Data””, oh, somewhat misleading.

Keep up with making me happy, though.

All due respect to Rocco, and family on front lines. It sounds awful in your part of MA. Also you sound like a very nice person. Jim SC, Joan, D, and anybody I have missed thanks for the support. Jane, I hope your eye is okay ( and I hope I am not mixing up Joan and Jane!)I have missed a lot as I have been busy. I like both of your posts. My heart breaks for the people who are forced to die alone due to this mess. Now our gov has set up new mask rules that we will “adapt to” as of May 6th. Even though Barnstable County deaths have been dropping for five days - his words. This entire thing is so infuriating. I told my brother (my business partner) and my husband that I may get arrested during this mess. They laugh, but I am so mad about the govt overreach that I would go there.

I do think this is an act of war. OL and MM battle all you want. I agree with OL, but I love MM’s optimism. Also Steph’s jokes. And I am mad that Steph and Porchlight have freedom. It’s late. I am extremely frustrated by my governor’s rules. I am working on ways to get around all this. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be worried about a police state in the US. It’s late so my thoughts may be a bit influenced by bourbon, but I trust you will all understand. Late night after working with the weird public regarding wearing face masks while answering the phone, and hauling heavily bags of fertilizer and such. Did any of us think we would be here? I’m guessing no. But, like history teaches us, things can change overnight.
I am so ready to fight. So is my son. He has already written two letters to the gov in less than a week. God bless. And fight on!

That is because of shit like this:

Family-owned Snake River Farms in Idaho has donated $2 million worth of American Wagyu steak — or about 35,000 10-ounce steaks — to San Francisco food banks. The large donation is only a portion of the $8 million steak donation -- or about 200,000 steaks -- the farm has made to cities hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis, like New York City, Seattle and Los Angeles.

https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/san-francisco-food-banks-receive-2m-wagyu-steak-donation

California, on Wednesday, made it clear that big tax breaks as well as philanthropic cash infusions are helping the “generous” rancher fags “donate” meat that is no longer available for middle America to purchase.

Is Idaho the same?

worldometer look see

Total US cases 1,131,452, new cases 36,242, %change 3.3%, new tests 320,628, %positive 11.3%, deaths 65,766, recovered 161,563.

I'm at the point where I think that any future analysis of this CCP virus will require a re-audit of deaths as currently reported in order to get a true picture of this disease.

This is no way to do science when financial or political motives are impacted the death totals. "Probable" deaths are useful in what manner?

NY is still trending down mildly. 27.8% of all cases are in NY. The testing %positives is also trending down at 33.2%. NJ seems to be following NY now over the last 4-5 days. NJ holds a 10.7% share of ll cases and the %positive of new testing is at 47.2%.

NY&NJ combine for 38.5% of all cases. Our share is continuing to slip. I still think we aren't doing enough testing in NJ, but the bi-state area seems to be post-peak in terms of the most serious cases. I think the implied herd immunity in lower NY and northern NJ is very high based on the NY antibody testing for NYC. It would be nice if NJ launched wide-scale antibody testing to confirm that.

recap
date all cases new cases %change tests
4/28 1,035,765 25,258 +2.4% 5,795,728
4/29 1,064,572 28,807 +2.7% 6,026,170
4/30 1,095,210 30,638 +2.8% 6,231,182
5/1 1,131,452 36,242 +3.3% 6,551,810

recap restated
date new tests new cases %positive
4/28 203,233 25,258 +12.4%
4/29 230,442 28,807 +12.5%
4/30 205,012 30,638 +14.9%
5/1 320,628 36,242 +11.3%

The increased testing is uneven as you can see. The May Day stats are odd.

I think that NY and NJ are fading hot spots. The Boston, Chicago and Detroit areas seem like the rising hot-spots.

Without doing the research I'm going to suggest that western Massachusetts, downstate Illinois and upstate Michigan don't need the same level of lock-down that their urban areas need.

I also think the narrative has shifted. Ordinary people are demonstrating that they support the re-opening.

To hell with the biased media, the ubiquitous PSA announcements and the "experts." One can only listen to the "Debbie-downers" for so long before realizing that they are not on our side.

Seems like just yesterday, stuff like this might happen and a normal person living his life would say "Well that obviously will not stand" and they were right because somebody in the system would slap some sense into the miscreant.

But normal people thought that about the egregiously unconstitutional actions of the IRS, CIA, FBI, DoJ under Obama...but look what happened. Crickets. Even almost four years after getting our guy in the WH to set it all right so we can sleep, knowing somebody is on that wall for us.

Which probably won’t even be possible given how messed up the data already is.

I found a rather interesting summary of completed HCQ studies, along with an extensive list of ongoing clinical trials: Hydroxychloroquine vs. COVID-19

Very interesting, MJW.

rse

Useful 'pandemic'. From a high school English teacher in Maryland.

However, coronavirus forced many to go through the denial of the "global" definition quickly, as it did make its way to our front door, much like the "in our lifetime" climate predictions, and soon many who were in denial a week ago were out of school or work and sheltering in place the next. We can now learn from this in our approach to climate change, pressing forward with our students’ new understanding of "global," and the realization for many that yes, it will impact me. And yes, there is a shared responsibility to address it. From this, we can both show that we are in this together and promote the idea that it shouldn’t take a crisis coming to our front door to build global solidarity.

If global solidarity were built from the beginning in the coronavirus, the situation may have turned out much differently, with all our political power and resources going to help China battle what could affect us all. But with the climate crisis we have a few advantages — one being time.

https://www.educationdive.com/news/coronavirus-the-definition-of-global-and-climate-curriculum/576322/

rse

Then there is this--

We must now use this realization in order to implement a curriculum that leads to action and solidarity. This curriculum would give students a better understanding of why this climate crisis is happening, what effects have become inevitable, what effects can be mitigated, what effects can be stopped, as well as ways to build political power and global solidarity to address them.

In many ways, it would be a hopeful curriculum, and one that helps keep students from relying on the emotional defense mechanisms seen during the coronavirus. Overall, the curriculum could embody a version of Martin Luther King Jr.’s statement, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” as an environmental mantra for global solidarity and shared responsibility, especially now that students see how true this really is.

Which also means the NWO as mentioned above actually doesn't need embedded neural devices to get where they are going. Global learning standards, of which the Common Core was the US version, work just fine.

The death figures are now completely meaningless.
As we discovered they were from the different countries in Europe, for comparison purposes, as they classified them differently.

This reimbursement perversion is huge as well.

The radiologist I have coffee with each morning got an email the other day, instructing him to add "Corona virus" if it was on the history to his reading--to maximize billing.

Interestingly, he read one out and said "Covid".
His software changed it to "corona virus."

Billing rules are very specific!
And they've already programmed to maximize receipts by conforming.

It's the same list I put up Thursday night, which would be explain why all the hype around Gilead seemed a bit "rushed" from 8:30 AM EDT on. So much so, that their CEO on Friday morning wouldn't address which patent they were going to honor for their precious "reimbursement". He dodged every question by answering that access wouldn't be restricted. Nor would he answer whether any one country was influencing his commentary or decision process. Declining the easy pitch to bash DJT told Me, and, shockingly, Becky Quick, that it was China twisting his arm, where the competing patent was held.

What was done to Flynn is an abomination. Everyone even peripherally involved at FBI and Covington should do hard time in a federal FMITA prison. (Especially Strzok for being the biggest smuggest asshole.) Flynn should be made whole somehow.

But let’s not get carried away over Flynn. Other than being unfairly victimized as a part of the “Get Trump” campaign, he’s not a particularly sympathetic figure, just another swampy IC-type looking to trade on his government contacts.
