I’m with you. I just don’t see any realistic game-changing club in the bag re. twitter. If the codetalkers see one I wish they’d be plainer about it. (Though the idea of numbers of Twitter management being walked out of Twitter hq in cuffs is intriguing.)
There's a scene in one of his books where someone's severely injured, so they surgically decapitate her and stick her head on a robot body until they can grow a new one.
I always wondered what that would actually look like. Now I know.
I'm going to get her later today when I get the word, Miss M, I'm sure they'll have some system set up so that I don't even set foot inside the hospital.
Once again, this morning the President is retweeting quite a few people, including Gregg Jarrett, Victoria Toensing, Dan Bongino, and a few private citizens. They include articles and vieos, too many for me to copy here, so here is the link to his page:
I don’t recall any rioting or looting after Damond was murdered by police.
I was wondering along similar lines. Here we have a local news story trumpeted nationally because it involved a white cop and a black victim. How often is it the reverse? Or black cop, black victim, or white cop, white victim? We can't know because the media don't bother with those stories. (The Damond case was an exception because it was so extreme, though I don't know how extensive the coverage was.)
I'm pretty sure I recall seeing that in general the stats on police shootings were about what you'd expect, in rough proportion to the racial composition of police and criminals.
While it doesn't look good for that cop, I don't care for calling this "murder" until there's a trial and conviction.
NEW: The White House did not consult the FCC on a forthcoming executive order pertaining to social media companies, according to a person briefed on the matter.
This suggests the draft order has not gone through the normal interagency review process.
(The Damond case was an exception because it was so extreme, though I don't know how extensive the coverage was.)
Coverage was almost non existent by the national enemedia. I had to check Powerline for coverage, and they included local reports that reported it acceptably thoroughly.
Narc, I saw that link posted elsewhere, with breathless “the cop likes killing black people”. Except no black people were actually killed.
Cities with civilian review boards make it very easy to complain about police, so complaint counts aren’t necessarily an indicator of anything, really.
I've got a prediction. Personally, I think it's hilarious that Trump bats Scarborough around as a cat does with a mouse, but I don't see how he demands internet behavior from others in the current environment. Therefore, in a shocker, Trump will apologize about (probably not to, directly) Scarborough. Trump Apology, I wish I could get odds on it.

It feels like progress that our biggest "race problem" this week finds pretty much everyone on the same side while we weirdly pretend it is not the case. I could be wrong, but I think most citizens oppose police murder, riots, and looting, regardless of race.
A-Bob, I think blacks are not unreasonable if they see that video and see racism, and blacks have seen way too many videos like that. Before everyone had a camera 24/7, there were horrible things that happened just the same - at the NYPD, for instance. I don't believe it even is racism, it's just bad cops. Cops have cuffs and nightsticks and guns - every street cop needs a psych eval every year. The teachable moment is that Trump can show the citizenry that bad cops won't be tolerated, that good cops aren't racist, and that blacks don't need to tear apart their own neighborhoods to get an actual response from government that will improve things for the first time ever. Trump can pull this off.
IF the jackals in the MSM can shut up long enough to allow him to speak.
The Left is interested in portraying him as a racist, even though he has black cabinet members, Hispanic cabinet members, minorities in high positions, support of black pastors, and has done more for minorities than any of his predecessors.
There also used to be numerous photos of him joking and palling around with black boxers, AL SHARPTON, black singers, and other black celebrities in New York.
Meanwhile, they shove Biden's numerous racist comments and actions under the table
"blacks are not unreasonable if they see that video and see racism" We'll agree to disagree on that. The demographics of crime, particularly the sort of crime that people fear most, are well known and beyond serious question. Even Jesse Jackson once acknowledged that in a weak moment.
And "every street cop needs a psych eval every year"? About the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time.
Unlike most people and certainly all other presidents, Miss M, it doesn't phase Trump at all when he's called a racist, he'll just say he's the least racist person on the planet and drive on. His authenticity bowls right over the naysayers.
A-Bob, I'm standing by the dumbest thing you've heard in a long time (hey, don't forget I recommended UAL last week, so at least give me 1-and-1). Cops are the greatest, love 'em, and psych evals for street cops might have prevented what just happened in Minneapolis. I think it (the evals) will happen, too, even though so far the only person I know who has mentioned it is me.
Ironic that the Central Park dog lady is being called a 'Karen,' when in fact it was the 'birdwatcher' who was really the Karen by telling her that her dog was supposed to be on a leash.
LOL, Steph. Reminds me of many years ago when a rabbi got in a bit of hot water for his sermon when he described a very chaotic situation as "like Father's Day in Harlem."
They don't see racism, they see a cop arresting a man, and accidentally killing him by use of force.
They've been egged on for 40 plus years, that THEY the COLLECTIVE "AFRICAN-AMERICAN" are all victims of WHITES. Who told them this. White liberals.
What they do see is FREE NIKES, and 55 INCH SAMSUNGS.
There's a serial killer case that I follow pretty closely, because I came from the area where most of the bodies were found and because I even have some theories about it. They've just made a Netflix movie about the thus unsolved Long Island Serial Killer (which, naturally, is an inaccurate movie based on an inaccurate book), the victims of whom were generally Craigslist prostitutes. One of the impediments to solving the case has been that the police refused to actively solicit the FBI's help, and the reason became clear when the police chief was arrested; James Burke was arrested for brutalizing some junkie in the station house while everyone watched - a junkie Burke was particularly pissed at because he'd stolen Burke's duffel back filled with sex toys and kiddie porn. Burke, who had a history of using and abusing prostitutes himself, is now suspected by some of actually being the serial killer. Probably not, but he was always a nutcase cop and everyone knew it. I hate when people who are authorized to use force abuse it, it makes my blood boil.
jimmyk, that's what I though, if anyone is the Karen it's the guy (though that's not possible, right, Karen's must be females?). Either way, such a silly thing on all fronts, there's a moment in the middle of that video where it seems just on the edge of both sides just saying "this is dumb" and moving on.
“I’m not so sure it should be banned, but clearly the scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of ethicity for it,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “…adverse events, particularly with regards to cardiovascular and the arrhythmia that might be associated with it.”
We do agree there are bad police. And good luck retaining the good police when you're calling then psych cases.
Police have tremendous power. And in the moment, regardless of right and wrong, regardless of the law, in an encounter with a cop if things get heated or go bad, your choices are to comply 100% (and hope the cop interprets your behavior that way), or to possibly get the crap beaten out of you, or get shot, or best case spend a night in jail and rack up some legal fees.
So, yeah, absolutely they ought to have yearly psych evaluations, and they ought to welcome it. Their power comes with a cost.
And if the vast majority of good cops did a better job of policing their own and weeding out the bad cops, or reining them in so that stuff like this incident in Minnesota, or the Dimond shooting, or other bad incidents, don't happen, then we wouldn't be having this conversation at all.
In other areas of life, in the private sector, the problem of nutcases or jerks who are in public-facing positions is self-correcting. Act like an a-hole to enough customers and people won't come to your store or business anymore, and either your boss will fire you or he'll go broke.
But in the public sector, citizens don't have any equivalent power to refuse to deal with bad cops, so either the good cops do it, or there will be ever more distrust and dislike and for police from the public, and ever more refusal to cooperate. And that isn't good for anyone.
We do agree there are bad police. And good luck retaining the good police when you're calling then psych cases.

These situations always represent mathematical certainties to me. They will always occur. Rarely, but they will occur.
Like football teams, a total boy scout force is not desired. You need, we need, some roughnecks in law enforcement, and we need some of them out on the street.
X number of those on the street will encounter a situation and react poorly to it.

I see Fauci is weighing in on France's decision on HCQ and it seems to me someone should muffle him a bit. I would also want to know what pharma companies in France are working on a vaccine.
Just a quick drop in here because I am swamped with work (which I guess is a blessing.)
Mrs -peter, who is not, unlike most of us here, meaning, she's not a news junkie, told me she saw a video of Biden pawing a bunch of girls. She said she was so sickened she couldn't watch the whole video. We've never discussed this. I view my wife as a kind of barometer of the real world--if this stuff is getting out into the mainstream, even though it is old hat to us, it is still explosive.
Came into work today--I work for a private company that is family owned. They are very successful, but a member of the family called me today, he is bi-polar and was being placed against his will into an institution; it is so sad. Never envy anyone. Everyone has problems, even the ones who own a bunch of houses and seemingly no troubles.
Tick tock. “Those are coming.” Well, you’re no longer director and the Flynn tapes never came. All you have to show for your work is the dirt on your boots from shoveling and burying evidence for

Ironic that the Central Park dog lady is being called a 'Karen,' when in fact it was the 'birdwatcher' who was really the Karen by telling her that her dog was supposed to be on a leash.
Central Park ‘Karen’ previously sued alleged romantic interest for stealing $65k, a story he calls ‘fabricated’
She seems a bit off, kind of a young Fran Liebowitz, but doesn't deserve having her life ruined.

Which shouldn't need to be said at all, given that they are human.
As with the foolish woman in Central Park the other day, there but for the grace of God go I.

That's really the question, isn't it? And it comes down to training and what overall approach we want from the police.
Given that there will be bad situations, and human error and misjudgments, which outcome should police be trained towards?
If police are not aggressive enough and there's a dangerous actor, the result is an injured or dead cop.
If police are too aggressive and there's an actor who's not actually dangerous, the result is an injured or dead (possibly innocent) citizen.
Which way do we want the errors to go? As the potentially innocent citizen, I know what my vote is on that.

And prayers for you Jane--

Dad wore glasses with the left frame painted black so he didn't have to deal with mottled vision.
He always took his glasses off when meeting children lest they not like the black lens.
I also have a book of his that he lent out to people who had to adjust to using a single eye. I could find it for you.
