Nursing homes have essentially nothing to do with the larger economy and are the most easily isolatable cohort of citizens [if the governors want to isolate them rather than intentionally infect them].
So what is the actual infection fatality rate over which the economy was shut down once we subtract nursing home deaths which were not protected by a shutdown outside their walls?

Mel, never mind I went to Gateway and found the story.

I don't think there was anything malicious about blue state Governors putting wufluers into nursing homes. They're just as stupid as the people who elected them.

matt - deplore me if you must

I think Cuomo was relying on Ezekiel Emmanuel for advice regarding the nursing homes.

Governor of MN just saying that "these are things that have been brewing for 400 years." Hope I'm quote that right. Useless F'er if I am.

-

Wow, that's tremendously insulting to blacks.

400 years in this very, very northern state where slavery has been illegal since inception, and where your families have had your choice of attending colleges anywhere in the nation if you will perform at slightly above average educational levels.

400 years, and here you are looting the Dollar Tree.

Way to go, Democrats. Way to go, governor.

I note that not only did the cops claim George Floyd appeared to be intoxicated and resisted when they tried to get him in the car but that he seemed to be having some type of medical distress.

A lot of truth in this article.

http://americandigest.org/outraged-they-came-protested-and-then-did-a-little-shopping/

Several years ago, I worked for a firm that had one of New York City's largest drug store chains as an account. The chain had a policy of not stopping shoplifters, as the lawsuits for excessive force were not worth it. Anyone who stole could walk out without consequences.

BREAKING: Former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin has been taken into custody.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Gab doesn’t seem to get it:
“Removing immunity from a publishing platform, like Gab or Twitter, would result in worse outcomes for free speech than simply doing nothing and letting the market sort things out. In fact, it would only likely lead to regulatory capture for Big Tech making them even more powerful.”

They refer to removing immunity as “increased regulation.” It’s just making them subject to the same laws as everyone else.

MissMarple2

Captain Hate,

I don't know who. Either they are trying to stage something to get the normies fearful of the rioters, or they are trying to dupe citizen investigators so that they look like fools and everyone will go back to believing corporate media.

henry

Arresting Chauvin now, like arresting the GA people, only after mob rule is not good. Incentivize looting, what can go wrong?

Captain Hate

Gab sounds really stupid. No wonder they're second tier, if that.

jimmyk

—I wonder if the "other evidence that does not support a criminal charge" might be his cause of death.—

Sounding like the Eric Garner case. We’ll see, but this is why I suggested not calling it “murder” until there’s an investigation and an indictment, if not conviction. It’s like the 24 hour rule, but more like 30 days.

keep voting them into power)

Surprising take by Gab, since Gab doesn't moderate except for unlawful and patently offensive content. Therefore, unlike Twitter, they're still a platform, and would still be immune from libel and defamation suits under Section 230.

This is a recoding of the live feed that I watched last night. I found the dialogue between the MSNBC anchor and the Chicago activist to be noteworthy. It starts after 2hr and 10min, or so:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JMBUWQ1ipZM

The activist approaches the reporter and starts name dropping until he makes a connection, the reporter then goes all in and throws support to the rioters (this is the same guy that was mentioned earlier calling the riots peaceful while a police station burned in the background). Then the activist wanted to know which producers the reporter worked for, at which point someone else(crew member) interrupts the reporter in such a way that the reporter realizes that he is saying way to much for live tv.

Maybe the names mentioned will be useful if someone here wants to forward the video to a Twitter Sleuth or Newsbusters or something.

I am exhausted. Taking a break.

I am trying to process the news that there may be emails between Seth Rich and Wikileaks. Can anyone here provide an update on where Assange is now (in prison in UK?) and whether Durham's people have gone to England to interview him?

rse

At this moment in our history, we can co-create data infrastructure to promote racial equity and the public good, or we can invest in data infrastructure that disregards the historical, social, and political context—reinforcing racial inequity that continues to harm communities. Building data infrastructure without a racial equity lens and understanding of historical context will exacerbate existing inequalities along the lines of race, gender, class, and ability. Instead, we commit to contextualize our work in the historical and structural oppression that shapes it, and organize stakeholders across geography, sector, and experience to center racial equity throughout data integration.

Consider the source

MissMarple2

Oh, henry, I should have known.

But NOW they get to ask him to his face, and with live coverage and Biden to contrast.

rse

Gee, look at who is involved.

Broward Data Collaborative by Sue GallagherCreated in 2017, the Broward Data Collaborative (BDC) seeks to improve the outcomes of residents by integrating data from multiple sources to inform evaluation, research, and care coordination. The BDC consists of Broward County Public Schools, Broward County Human Services Department, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition, Florida Departments of Children and Families and Juvenile Justice, Early Learning Coalition of Broward, and the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (which acts as the BDC backbone organization). In planning the BDC, the Children’s Services Council of Broward County used a Community Participatory Action Research (CPAR) framework to operationalize their core values of equity and transparency and account for the historical and current structural racism perpetuated by the community ’s systems and organizations. The CPAR framework aims to help the BDC create racially equitable structures by involving system participants in the process of governance, research, evaluation, and solution creation to address the racial, economic, and social/spatial gaps that are all too common between the predominantly White researchers governing integrated data systems and the BIPoC using public services. Through this planning process, the BDC has worked to provide a seat at the proverbial (and literal) table for youth and residents whose data are represented in the child-serving integrated data system. The BDC’s recognition that their county-level systems produce racially disparate outcomes has allowed them to build nonhierarchical relationships between the community and professionals. In planning, the BDC is creating an integrated data system that allows them to share strengths-based stories about their community and community members and use data to co-create system and policy improvements.

That would have started about the time the Parkland shooter was slipping through the cracks with some of these same entities.

Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks. that was in May 2019. He was not freed when the sentence had run because he is subject to extradition, but the court is still considering whether the extradition is for political purposes, which would be contrary to British extradition law. The judge has postponed the hearing until Sept b/c of Covid. this all is from Wikipedia. No mention of being interviewed by USDOJ.
Also, they report that the Mueller report said that the emails could not have come from Seth Rich because Rich was killed 4 days before Wikileaks received the emails. (of course, Rich may have sent them to someone else who passed them to Wikileaks). Anyone have any more info or opinions?

John S

I think the resolution of the DNC emails issue is very important. We now know for sure that the basis used for opening the Russia investigation was a lot of nothing. But the left can still say russia stole the emails, so the Dems were right to be suspicious. If it can be shown that the emails were downloaded, not hacked, and that the Dems knew the russia claim was BS, then the entire package becomes a made-up, illegal spying operation.
