“Just posting another episode in “As the World Loses it.” Really enjoyed my two days at the beach, but I almost killed a few people before 10:30am. And I am just ranting here, but day to day life is getting difficult. The nuts in this town have closed off a third of the parking spots in the beach lots - not every other space, but a bunch on the left and a bunch on the right. So at 10:15 we were first in the waiting line for a space. For other reasons the town has been cracking down on having a waiting line at this particular beach (Pretty much agreed on that the jerks on the island past the lot don’t like the line of cars and are claiming it’s a safety issue in case an ambulance needs to get through) Anyway, young girl in a mask approaches us and says we can’t wait. I grumble that we know that but if we are next what’s a few minutes. Anyway she gets on her phone. So husband unloads our stuff and I drive home and bike back to beach. On the way some idiot walking his dog while in a mask steps into the street to avoid a woman on the sidewalk. I’m at least 30 ft away, and there’s a car in the other lane, and he starts pointing and yelling for me to get in the other lane. I was pretty stewed for the first hour. Plus had to talk to couple of lefty friends who arrived yesterday (after quarantining at home In VA for two weeks.)

Later I was speaking with a pretty liberal acquaintance and she said she was behind us. A cop showed up and made all leave. She came back and waited in the turn around area, and told drivers behind her she was waiting for the cop to leave. Her words, “I am 61 years old and I am evading the police.”

Just another day in paradise! But if I had any bad germs in my system I baked in the sun all day. I sucked up enough vitamin d to last for a long time. Skin cancer be damned at this point!

Buckeye, we had a bathroom renovation last year, and thought we would get all sorts of other overdue projects and improvements done as well. Well, the dog hated the contractor, and basically I had to shut him in a room if I was working, and if home babysit him. So no major home improvement until this crazy beast leaves us. He seems to get sick every summer, and comes back stronger than ever. So we will just improve the yard for now. He’s been out of sorts, so we are giving him anxiety meds until we can get to the vet. The meds are left over from the bath reno.

When my kids were young I was on this insidious group of parents, teachers, the principal, and town members. I forget what it was called. Anyway, the principal used all these “terms” and I took her on. In the end I “won.” They put a glossary in the back of the handbook - just in case a parent cared to look up what any of their bs terms meant. Small victories.

It was not the PTA. It was the “School Council.” But I did the PTO thing here. Both were a way to really find out what was going on, and to get your kid into the better classes. I did the best I could to be aware and involved to keep my three in the best situation. I did not work, and we did live leanly. But they all graduated in the top 5 of their classes. Yeah, I guess I am bragging. We also had family dinner as much as possible. I am hopeful that this “mess” will bring a lot of parents back home and involved with their kids, and their schooling and future. IMO too many parents have left their kids on their own way too often.
