OK, I'm back from a major backyard binge clearing brush and felling small trees. VERY Reaganesque, or Bush 43-ish. Also managed to maintain proper social distancing, since it was just me and my chainsaw. And a handsaw. Hand clippers for the small stuff branches. OK, but distanced!
All very fun. There was one close call - I finished with a small stand of small trees, had the chain saw humming and - for just two seconds - the demon took me and I could see a clear cut trail from my yard to Oregon. Harrrhhh! And a deep breath! The moment passed and the continent is safe.
My impression is stuff is going on. I'm afraid to ask...
Yay!

"The moment passed and the continent is safe."
A relief to all. Also, good to burn energy with productive yard work. Aligns the universe as well as your internal gyros.
"In the world of me and you,
All is forgotten when we're inside.
And the words that pass us by,
I am not listening to all of its lies."
Gotta turn off that news spigot from time to time.

Not sure how long your bar is TM, [calling a chainsaw bar a blade is an even bigger mark of the amateur than calling a gun's magazine a clip] but the trees get a little bigger as you approach the west cost.

Don't know about points east but so far I've had a squirrel nest fall out of a Doug Fir with a hairless little baby squirrel in it. The baby turkeys are out and ambulatory and there's at least one squawking fledgling Stellar's Jay in the Camellia right by my door.

Wow, after a week of trying I finally can login. What an insane time. I wanted to let Miss M know we were able to get American flags in! I loved the link to the Idaho town that brought out the guns. That would never happen here in Mass (the cradle of liberty - sarc). Miss M we also got 6 small bags of potting soil, but it was sold immediately.
Anyway we are extremely busy at store. But the supply chains are recovering, and stock continues to arrive. Charlie Parker says we can eat outside at restaurants starting Monday. Plan on eating at a great spot near my store. The owner has used ppe money to fix up the place. He’s a great guy.
I have another customer who keeps smiling, but told me his high-end women’s clothing store on Newberry St was destroyed in the riots. He also owns a fitness center, and has rentals. Trifecta of “getting screwed” there. Another customer has a collision business, which is slow as no one is driving. Also a sports bar, a limo business, and rentals. Again, getting screwed.
My garden is planted, and I can’t believe I had so much rage that I dug up such an area! Very excited to see how it goes. I gave a customer cash to start building Adirondack chairs for a Father’s Day gift, but I see he was arrested in the local police report. Hmm, maybe I gave away that money. Oh well. He will need it.
OL glad you made it safely to Nantucket.
Finally, I visited Normandy a few years ago when visiting my daughter while on exchange in Paris. Amazing, and so disappointed at how we now have so many weenies in the country. Peace and love, and American Spirit to all! I just wanted to check in. I think we will get through this, even though I feel so disappointed and defeated at times.

My el cheapo hedge trimmer has a stupid plastic clip thingy that has to be locked in place to be able to pull the lever to turn it on [thank you lawyers], but it wore out after a couple of seasons. (I have at least 30 bushes/hedges to deal with) So now it has a piece of wood jammed into it so that it can always be run. I also have 3 vintage trimmers inherited from my FIL from probably the 60s or 70s, but they're metal and weigh a lot more, but are weaker. I also have a trimmer on a telescoping pole, that I bought to replace my old method of tying the conventional trimmer to an old broomstick, for the higher tree-height yews at either end of the house.

Jane, I hope your eye heals soon. Hilarious that you dropped your drink in your purse. Not really, but you get it I think. I admire your optimism. If I am very sick for a day I am down and out. You just keep fighting. (Although this stupid pandemic had me working no matter what. I felt like crap through a lot of it, but had to keep going. Just kept my head down and kept quiet). Early on I thought if this is the covid it’s not that bad. We at the store all thought no one In power knew what they were talking about, and they were scaring everybody. Crazy to feel like one is part of a rebellion, but in a way it we were. Early on we distrusted Dr. F. Nice to not hear anything from him now! That’s one positive these days!

Dave, we have a giant privet hedge as we live on the corner of a scenic historic highway. (Needed something to keep the kids from running into the busy road when they were kids) We now hire a landscaper to trim it two times per year. We must have cut a dozen cords in half trimming it. So much work, so much easier to write a check.

Yes. They were amazingly funny.
All these progs who are cheering on looters and riots now upset that some guy grabbed some broad's paper sign and that they were interfering with legal protesters. They're more upset by that than black cops being shot and killed.
But the perfect topping was listening to them whine because some guy was picking on women.
Suddenly I guess women are the weaker sex again.
Progs; they're about to become what's for breakfast.
