Extraneus
It takes an average half a second for the unconscious mind to process incoming sensory stimuli into conscious perceptions. Yet we are not aware of this time lag - you think you see things move as they move, and when you stub your toe you get the impression of knowing about it right away. This illusion of immediacy is created by an ingenious mechanism, which backdates conscious perceptions to the time when the stimulus first entered the brain. On the face of it, this seems impossible because cortical signals take the same "real" time to process to consciousness, but somehow we are tricked into thinking we feel things earlier.

So disgusting to watch Twitter’s so-called “Trending”, where sooo many trends are about me, and never a good one. They look for anything they can find, make it as bad as possible, and blow it up, trying to make it trend. Really ridiculous, illegal, and, of course, very unfair!

yes, Extraneous, on the London taxi drivers and their navigating skills. I often discussed it with them. When we moved there I can remember thinking, I'll always be lost (mainly because of a couple of movies I'd seen), and at first I was intimidated, but I was determined to know my way around. I loved the maps. We had a big book of London area maps. The tube maps helped too -- as far as learning a direction.

I got so I could drive just about anywhere in the city -- not so much south past Wimbledon and on. I could drive down there, but didn't know my way around the streets in Wimbledon. We stabled a horse at a stable a block or two north of Bayswater Road, Hyde Park. Our children went to school in St. John's Wood, we lived in Kensington, so I studied the map and found a back way, used Ladbroke Grove then east past Portobello Road and then on up behind Maida Vale. I drove up to Hampstead a lot, also Golders Green. Drove west out into the countryside to Fulmer (took riding lessons out there).

Anyway, I've always loved reading maps and learning my way around. Hopefully it stimulated my hippocampus. Wonder if yoga does? I know I'm not going to start running -- I've had an arrhythmia since my teens, and it just kicks up a fuss over running, plus swimming. I can swim on my side and back, but breast stroke and crawl are tough because of breathing in rhythm.

“Jason Whitlock wrote a column describing Jaden McNeil as a “martyr” who was targeted for tweeting “politically incorrect” jokes about George Floyd. Jaden McNeil is a member of the openly racist “Groyper” movement. He also promotes, works with and praises white nationalists. How and why was this information left out and did you personally edit the column? Are all of the articles on OutKick edited or are staffers allowed to post stories on the site without review?”

I asked Whitlock to respond to this question since the writer didn’t email him directly, but asked me to comment on his column. Enjoy his response.

“Karen, I honestly find this line of questioning racist and emblematic of the systemic racism practiced by busybodies in the white alt-left movement. Let me translate what you just did: “Clay, Mr. White Folks, your negro writer is out of control and published an opinion that upstanding white people disagree with. Discipline and control your negro or we will.”

Karen, I’m a PARTNER at Outkick. Clay is not my overseer. He is my partner. All due respect to Clay, but I am the most accomplished journalist at Outkick. You could argue I’m the most accomplished sports journalist in America.

I’m offended you reached out to Clay and Dr. Chao directly with questions about their work, but in typical Karen fashion chose to report me to Mr. White Folks. Did you question Kansas State president Richard Myers for not mentioning Jaden McNeil’s alleged affiliation to white nationalists in Mr. Myers’ public critique of McNeil? Like 99.99 percent of America, I’ve never heard of the Groyper movement. When I was in college I was attracted to and attended events put on by the Nation of Islam, an organized and well-known black nationalist group.

Kids experiment with dumb shit. Karen, I am the wrong negro for you to be f–king with. Go sit down.”

MissMarple2

joan,

I am envious you got to live in London! I have been there several times, but never more than a few days at a stretch.

The first time was when my son was about 8 months old, so I hauled him around on my hip everywhere, including Westminster Abbey, where we were the only people for quite some distance in any direction, and you could walk right up to the Coronation Throne! That was in 1969, when you also could go right up and TOUCH the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum!

When I went back later, in the 90's, everything in the Abbey was behind glass, and by the time my sister and I were there for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Abbey was crowded and noisy, and the British Museum had a lot of sinister-looking immigrants loitering along the street.

Glad I got to see London, though!

Joan is right. London with our maps or knowledge is a nightmare. I had a cabbie tell me how to read the book of maps I had: London A to Z. Impressive 80 pages of local London district maps. We started on off in Kensington then moved to Belgravia. West London was easy but then try to navigate north to Hampshire or south to Surrey or Suffolk.

Now you know why they have the rail network to bring everyone into the City.

For Golf excursions, it was a nightmare of over an hour or two. But for us since his locale to Belgium via the tunnel or ferries was perfect. Plus the culture and food. Yummy.

WOW. Ghislaine Maxwell evidence includes "nude" photos and videos, according to court filing.

Hillary is PANICKING.

Captain Hate

That makes her a liar and a criminal, not an idiot.

It wasn't very smart for her image to float this obnoxious lie about some video being the cause of an uprising in Libya, even to a credulous group of dumbasses including Chris Wallace. To any halfway intelligent person that made her look like a cutthroat liar who would say anything, no matter how preposterous, to protect the decision makers. Powell, that other master of undeserved arrogance, did the same thing knowing full fucking well he'd never be called out on it.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Jason Whitlock is making so much noise now. During the Clarence Thomas hearings I was screaming for some black male voice to forcefully make the point of what white libs were doing to an accomplished black man by trafficking in the worst stereotypes and there wasn't a fucking sound. Anybody thinking that what Whitlock and other blacks are doing now to counter the blm propaganda is unrelated to who's in the White House and setting the tone need to roll over and go back to sleep.

Hello all. Going back to late last night and catching up- as usual. I just want to clarify that I think the LA massacre was horrible. Yes, I had the wrong administration, but I still say it is the deep state and it’s affiliates that are corrupt in this “investigation.” I really don’t want to rehash it all, just assure some of you that I am aware it was put away by the government and things are definitely not right there. There may be terrible reasons behind who the shooter is/was, but the fact that our government dropped it is awful. Hope that bails me out of whatever you think I was saying. Please be kind. And really I don’t want to hash it out.

I was so ready to use so many responses that you all put out there. Not much today. The one conversation started when I pulled the string off of one ear to catch some air in the hot store. My customer told me it was falling off of my ear, and I told her - from a distance that I was just cooling off a bit. Mask was still over my mouth. And I was surprised that this customer was commenting. Weird. Anyway, another regular said something mild. I ended up shrugging and stating the extremely low hospitalization rate here, and that we should be a bit more free from masks at this point. So of course he has to comment about rising cases in FL. I replied yes but lower hospitalization rates, and that’s a good thing. He told me people in the South are stupid. A few minutes later in a different area he said the same thing to me, and I replied, — we need herd immunity and this is helping. I said that we need to open up. This shut down is killing the economy. He just walked away. Really this guy surprised me. I just assumed he was like minded. Another lesson learned. Argh. Well I strongly disagree at this point. (Sorry no “” marks and proper punctuation. I just don’t feel like it.) As far as I am concerned you southerners rock!

Long hot day. Not a “Sarah Connor” rock out the push ups after work day. Maybe tomorrow.
