Cleaning gutters is surprisingly fun. And very rewarding if it rains immediately afterwards. And you like to stand in the rain.

MM--
Hubby told me last night there had been a carjacking tuesday afternoon in the shopping center close to us and that the police had quietly confirmed to someone he was meeting for coffee that it was not the first incident in the area or even the first in the daytime.
None of this is being covered by the news because they don't want bad press and the optics of a black gang operating in this affluent diverse area so near to major hospitals is deemed to not be good.
It also means no one is on guard to the extent they ought to be. Be careful and don't assume that because you are unaware of incidents they are not occurring.
I have used that shopping center as the turn around point on some of my walks and when I was first rehabbing my knee I would walk there with instructions to hubby to come pick me up please in 45 minutes.
Told hubby that is why it is good to drive something that is not new and is pretty generic in this area.

So,the next big thing re: Covid is pool testing.
Susan Collins was on local radio this morning. She had a conversation with Dr. Fauci (because she respects him so very much) and he explained pool testing to her. Honestly,I couldn't listen, I turned off the radio. It was the first time I'd heard about something called pool testing, maybe I'm not paying attention.

Catching up from last night: sbw, your seemingly lone struggle with the AP, and your efforts to keep alive a traditional newspaper business, would seem to me to be a great story that deserves a wider audience than JOM. I would bet someone here with contacts in the niche of authentic media (Clarice? Jane? RG?) could put you together with someone who could make that happen, if you were willing.
Posted by: jimmyk | July 02, 2020 at 10:31 AM
What I learned from those two stories is that there are 4-6 charges against Maxwell for aiding and abetting, plus an artict that worked for them reported Epstein to the FBI in 1996! Nothing was done: not a phone call, visit, records search, NOTHING!

Had my morning laugh early. Was reading a story about the discovery of the largest black hole ever at the center of the most luminous quasar.
Down in the comments a few imbeciles, already panicked by the Kung Flu etc, were worried about the earth being devoured by a black hole.
So some greater fool tried to calm their nerves by noting the remote possibility of earth and a black hole crossing paths and then listed several things of considerably greater danger, all pretty much stemming from global warming, the last of which was the dire warning of BEAVERS HASTENING THE MELTING OF PERMAFROST!
LOL
That's a new one on me I must admit but he was apparently quite serious. Don't worry about supermassive black holes because...beavers.
Still LOLing.
As Wodehouse put it regarding someone, possibly Spode, it kind of makes you question man as God's last word.

It also means no one is on guard to the extent they ought to be. Be careful and don't assume that because you are unaware of incidents they are not occurring.
If the police aren't actively reporting serious incidents, or the local news is refusing to cover them, is there any way to sue?
Granted that the SC declared that police don't have a duty to protect, but deliberately refusing to disclose serious threats to the public seems like it would be actionable.

sbwaters,
I think it would be a good book, too. The WSJ is no good to try; it's obvious to me that they are in on the racket.
We used to take the WSJ when I was married and my husband was more in the business end of mining (even though he had an engineering degree). They have changed their attitude a lot, and I think it was because they were bought by someone with "contacts".
You need a publisher who is interested in the subject. Sell it as the "homogenization of American culture" or some stuff like that. Make it seem like it's counterculture! Those type of people will jump at the chance! Contact Don Jr!! I bet HE would be interested!
Honest to God, when I read that book about the first two years of Trump's time in the white House, I learned all sorts of things the regular press never told us. Both of the boys are miffed that their father gets little credit from the press or the news channels. Your struggle with the AP explains part of it.

I've been looking for info about Ghislaine all morning. My inquiring mind is fascinated about the fact she was found in Bradford,NH. I thought she would be found somewhere around the lakes. Bradford is in the general area of Lake Sunapee, with a few smaller lakes in the area. She must have thought that would be a good place to hide out.

Last night I took Teddy to the dog park for him to tear around before it gets hellishly hot. Unfortunately there was a pitbull there right on the cusp of her first heat. Fortunately I could fence my whorehound dog away from her but that still didn't stop him whining so much I wanted to geld him with my car keys. Fortunately the owners left shortly after that so my dog could act normal.
Then a girl came with a Newfoundland (the black and white kind)/Akita half year old pup who was huge. She was a ball of energy that still isn't totally aware of how big she is and was a hilarious bull-in-a-china-shop tearing around playfully.
