Gentlejim

When is Dr Fauci going to get a bag over his head and driven away in an unmarked van?

anonamom

When we go get him. Are you off this weekend? I'll drive south and meet you.

He is SO past his sell by date!

MissMarple2

I don't know, Gentlejim. I keep hoping that he wil come in with his doom and gloom and Barr will tell him they have tapes of him arranging bribes with Biden, so he's under arrest.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Not to be cold, but COVID is providing a bit of relief to Social Security and Medicare on the liability side...--

Since even Neil Ferguson admits ~70% of the dead weren't going to make it to the end of the year regardless, "a bit" is correct, if not excessive.
40-50 million not paying in for even a few months however is quite a bit more than a bit.

From the last thread, you daughter is correct on kitty age and flea spotting. You may wish to check with you vet.

All of ours are over 15 years old, so it is no big deal.

Gentlejim

Anonamom,

I am off this weekend. ROADTRIP!!!!

Violet update:
The docs are pleased so far. Tentative plan is to come home Monday.
Dad and Violet thank everyone for everything. I’m hoping for no more updates until Monday after they’ve left Indy.

I thank you all for everything.

Hey rocco, quick question about jail/prison culture.

Used to be prisoners guilty of crimes against children would have a hard time from fellow inmates (and maybe steff?).

How about this clown:

https://newspunch.com/photo-of-blm-supporter-kneeling-on-neck-of-white-baby-investigated-by-sheriffs-office/

He up for some prison asskickings? Or doesn't it work that way anymore?

Gentlejim

Porch,
I hope all is well with dad.

Melinda,

I still want to know if that virus was brought over here by diplomats and scattered in "hot spot" areas that the Chinese wanted to infect.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--He up for some prison asskickings? Or doesn't it work that way anymore?--

Don't know about elsewhere but the local state pen has a large section just for sex crimes, keeping them largely apart from the general population.

jimmyk

You think Fauci will get “fact checked” by the WaPo? Magic 8 Ball says “Very doubtful.”

peter

from the last thread, prayers for Porchlight and her familiy, glad to hear there's progress.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Fauci and his ilk are my worst nightmare. Tyranny of "experts".--

The most disgusting thing about progs running the institutions is not morons like Fauci or imbecilities like climate crises or mask crises or the crisis de jure. We'll always have morons and imbecilities.
It's having to listen to dipshits without two neurons to rub together bloviating about "heroes" like Fauci and "settled science" when they wouldn't know science if it bit their arse with sabre tooth tiger fangs.

peter

Ann Taylor, Loft, Justice, Lane Bryant, all of which have the same parent company, filing for bankruptcy, with many stores to close. There was a time when my wife shopped at AT and Loft quite often because their clothes fit her well.

peter

My son may very well not be going back to college this fall. He was in the process of transferring from UVA to Boston College. However, he doesn't feel like it is worth it to go to college if all of his classes are going to be online, and if student interaction and socializing are going to be hampered by all the ridiculous rules. Can't say I blame him. In other words, he's taking an involuntary gap year. Really a shame. He's been a good student, but the college experience has not been very pleasant for him at all.

Gentlejim

I quit shopping at Lane Bryant when they went all “skinny” suits. Wait a minute, that was Brooks Bros, sorry.

Extraneus

Sad, peter. Probably a smart move, though. Mine graduated last year, luckily for him I guess.

Another Bob

Peter, my wife was an Ann Taylor as well.

jimmyk

he doesn't feel like it is worth it to go to college if all of his classes are going to be online, and if student interaction and socializing are going to be hampered by all the ridiculous rules.

The same for my daughter. She's going to try to rent an apartment with friends and get a job or internship somewhere. My hope is that companies recognize the opportunity of a slew of students taking a year off and create positions, as they do in the summer, but we'll see. We're very pissed off at these universities all caving to the panic.

Captain Hate

Willowed

And the son (who you knew Rocco right?) was in prison 2 years longer for no reason.

Martha Coakley, who lost to Scotty Centerfold, dragged her disgusting wrinkled ossified ass as long as possible before springing him. I'd like to think that was the deciding factor in the race although she was a loathsome candidate in just about every other way.

Extraneus

I couldn't relate to all the Brooks Brothers talk, but it hearkened me back to a nice night-time winter walk past all the beautiful Christmas window displays in the big name stores near Central Park, NYC.

I decided to check out Barney's. I'd always heard of it as a high-end place. Didn't know anything more about it.

Men's dept. was 3rd floor, so we took an elevator. The first thing I see when the doors opened was a mannequin with a pink plaid sport jacket. A clearly gay man asked if he could help and I asked for the leather jacket section, since I could have been open to buying a nice leather jacket.

The first one I tried on, totally gay, was priced at $3,000.

We spent a few more minutes taking in the once-in-a-lifetime scene and left.

Jane

Peter,

A gap year can be a great thing. I took one at CU to get my residency and lower tuition. No one thought I’d go back. One big ship of fools. It’s very good to be in the world, work for a living and grow up a little at that age.

Jane

Peter,

Didn’t you already have one at BC?

JimNorCal

MissM: "I still want to know if that virus was brought over here by diplomats and scattered in "hot spot" areas that the Chinese wanted to infect"

We'll never know but the Chinese DID accuse US military of bringing the virus to China when they attended some competition.

Comanche Voter

Well Fauci is well past his sell by date. Can't keep his stories straight. And as for the governors--Cuomo, Newsom, Whitmer et al, there's not a nickel's worth of value in any of them.

That said--my wife and I both turn 77 this year--and we look at the modal distribution of deaths from the "KungFlu" in our community--so we stay cautious and mostly isolated.

But it's an interesting virus-and since it's seemingly only been around since late last year (in humans at least) there's a lot left to learn about it. It's hard to tell how lethal it's been in the USA since so many cases are asympomatic. But I've seen figures that lethality is as low as 0.5% which would make it just a bit more lethal than "regular" flu that shows up each year. But it's apparently also very very contagious. I'm not certain that people know just how it spreads--face masks of course are one thing---but do we need to be disinfecting every surface that anybody touched? And we haven't had the time to learn what happens down the road (sequelae) to a Wuhan Virus infection where the patient recovers.

As Donald Rumsfeld---and Dick Cheney, both voted in as Darth Vader or the Devil by progressives said, it's the unknown unknowns that will get you. And right now there are plenty of unknown unknowns where the Wuhan Virus is concerned.

Extraneus

Dems are joyous that Trump can't do rallies or even have the Jacksonville convention. This is a show of weakness on their part.

Unlike them, we wish the Dems would have a convention. COVID is a good excuse for avoiding the pandemonium they know would happen.

I think they're about to experience an epic ass-kicking.

CCGirl

CH, we call her Marsha Coakley here in Mass. Ted Kennedy’s son called her Marsha, and Howie Carr ran with it. Charlie Parker started with Biden calling him that. What’s the deal with these dems where they can’t get a name correct? Well they don’t get much right, but they sure know how to win around here. Sigh

After getting out and working and such I am sorry I had the poor me thing going this am. All is good and I count my blessings every day. Sorry about that!

Hair cut was great. My stylist told me a woman was telling her she was racist because she is white and what she needs to do (pretty bold considering the person has sharp scissors and one’s hair in her hands). Anyway my stylist said she replied, “You are talking about you right, not me?” Anyway they argued while she was cutting her hair! Must have been quite a scene. Very proud of stylist as she told her to read Thomas Sowell.

I was confronted by a customer while at the post office. He told me he felt unsafe in my store because some customers weren’t wearing masks, and there “were a lot of people in the store.” Thank God I had a bandana over most of my face because I am sure I swore under my breath. I told my brother and he said, “Then don’t come the fuck in!” It never seems to end.

Glad people are feeling better.

CCGirl

Peter and Jimmy K, as you have probs read here we are in the same boat. Son, at my urging, decided to stay with the online classes. He will be a senior and college has been for lack of a better phrase, “not very college like.” I suggested he finish up and then move on with his life. Youngest is told she can’t be on campus, but likely will be next semester as she will begin nursing clinicals. It’s all such an incredible overreaction. This age group is so low risk.

CV and wife, I would be doing the same as you if I was your age. That makes sense. The school and college thing is a complete shit show. I hope these colleges get defunded and everything else. I also think they are awful to lay off the custodians and such and not take a pay cut at the top. Shame on them.

AB,

Yeah, that creep won't last very long. I doubt the blacks will stick up for this scumbag. Kids are usually off limits but maybe there are some blacks who'll defend him?

Racial tensions in jail are a huge problem. I can see the white gangs putting heat on the black gangs to take care of their problem or else they will. BLM pc crap won't fly in jail among the cons anyway. But maybe things have changed?

CCGirl

Seriously?! That pitch was hilarious! What a maroon!

peter, I'm sorry to hear that. This thing has screwed up so many educations it's outrageous. And it's just getting started.

I'm sorry he didn't enjoy UVA.

But if it helps, he's in the same boat with so many others. If the gap year helps, maybe they can have a cohort that moves together back to college in person when this is all over.

Porchlight

Thanks again for the good wishes. My mom says my dad is now on antibiotics and they suspect some kind of infection (that was my first thought as well).

CPAP related? It explains pretty much all the symptoms, I think. I read that hyperglycemia can be a result of lung infections.

The latest chapter in the saga of Mrs K's anonymous battle at her firm over PC crap: Today she got an email from the women's group that their next meeting would be on the book "White Fragility," which I guess is the new bible of "systemic racism," yada, yada. She feels she can't speak out, but she forwarded it to her ally who's higher up the food chain, and he sent it to the CEO and COO with the comment that it's unacceptable, offensive, should not be allowed on company time, and he wants to bring it up at the next operations committee meeting. My dad is on his way home. They have determined it a UTI, but he will follow up with full blood work with his doctor in a week. Of course there are the possible rona results to come but no one seems worried.

He just called me. Complimented the family home team for quick work. He's a fairly rare complimenter so that was nice. :)

CCGirl

Jane, I don’t think so. I just got caught up bitchin about the dem royalty around here! Kennedys always in the paper and news. Then MV was summer for the Clintons. Then Obama, and then they bought the waterfront estate since he stopped the rising tides. It’s so easy to go off an a tangent about these crooks.

Related, but just a story a customer told me. (Hope I haven’t already told this story). This was back a bit - whenever the riots were happening in Boston. That’s when he told me this had happened. He has an auto supply shop on MV, and he told me that after the Kavanaugh mess he was talking about it with some of the guys in the store, and that he was pissed about what the left did. He says that a man was in the store and he asked to speak to him outside. He gave him his business card and asked if he knew who he was. My customer said yes, and says the man told him he better shut up about Kavanaugh or he would have a mob outside of his business in no time flat. Says is was Sid Blumenthol. He said after that he got a gun and taught his wife how to use another one. True? I think so. Crazy story.

CCGirl

Porch, glad all is okay. My sister in law’s father had a uti and was a mess. He is 90 and also caught covid but never was hospitalized. The uti might have been worse. Now he just sleeps a lot. Poor guy.

CCGirl

Clarifying. He told me the story back when the riots were going on. This happened after the Kavanaugh hearings. Was that last October?

Narciso

Can’t keep track of all the nuttiness on the timeline lately. Seems to be fast and furious lately.

Yes it was tough, but it was early on in March. When we saw that a 90 year old was dealing with it at home we lost our fear of it. That’s also why I think I may have had it and was asymptotic.

Having said that, it is an unpredictable and unusual virus. Certainly one must stay ahead of the symptoms and take great care if needed.
