Good morning! I feel like that is the first time in ages I've enjoyed the week in pictures in real time and it was a good one.
From my Facebook feed, only the truly desperate are singing the praises of the DNC convention, the rest are comparing voting to Biden to riding a city bus that simply gets you closer to your destination.
This has pretty much been a shit week, so I haven't even been able to properly enjoy the DNC convention as I normally would have. I ruptured my achilles Thursday night helping with a volleyball practice and have surgery this week, then no weight on the foot for a couple of weeks. Our old house is not designed for convalescents - so many high thresholds and single steps into areas - so a knee scooter is out. Still trying to figure out how to carry coffee to the couch, which is my bed for the next few weeks. My family is being awesome, but it will get old for them, I'm sure. Any crutch tricks would be helpful.
Crutch tricks.... by the time you figure them out you are healed. And it’s not like riding a bicycle, you relearn each time. The single crutch & hop routine sort of works in a tight space.

The FDA is revoking its emergency use authorization of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for treating COVID-19 amid growing evidence that the drugs are "unlikely to be effective" in treating the coronavirus.
Trump "Many doctors and studies disagree with this!"
I'll tell you what else many doctors and studies disagree with. It was yesterday in his comments about how great the economy was before "the plague struck".
It is true that every single political leader acted and is acting as if that is what it was.
But they were/are wrong about that and great unnecessary damage was done/is being done to the people as a result.
We will never recover all that lost, and we may well never regain the freedom and liberty they stole from us under that banner.
Robin, after my foot surgery,I used a knee scooter. Getting over thresholds is tricky, but I learned to lift the handles to position the front wheel over the thresholds. The best thing about the scooter was being hands free at the sink or loading the washing machine. I'm sure you'll adjust to using the crutches and learn tricks. Keep a basket of stuff that you need on a table near the couch. Take care!

Our little city, which is completely dependent on the economic health of the two institutes of higher learning on the hills above, is facing a catastrophic budget shortfall. Most of the programming for kids was eliminated this summer and higher taxes are on the horizon to simply cover the gap. Despite this, the city closed two blocks yesterday to repair potholes in preparation for a Black Lives Matter mural to be painted on the street. Yup, city funds in scarce supply and many major roads in poor condition, yet here we are.

“ And the doctors who speak up about it are banned from the public square.”
Still puzzled about HCQ. I’ve confirmed doctors can prescribe an approved drug for off-label. The FDA is not allowed to regulate the practice of medicine. As far as I can tell, an EUA is only to facilitate availability and distribution of a drug. It is still legal for doctors to prescribe HCQ or any other approves drug for any medical purpose they see fit. But apparently governors can prevent it with a phone and a pen?
I’m with OL 100% that everything about this fake pandemic shows that our legal system leaves us citizens subject to tremendous abuse, particularly by governors, who seem to be able to give themselves unlimited power for unlimited time.

Given that Debbins appears to be a "true believer" in the cause of Russian nationalism, his public commentaries on security matters offer a unique pool of data against which to evaluate his thinking and actions.

Soo, if it's the same Peter Debbins (justice.gov/opa/pr/former-…) alleged to have spied for GRU, I totally saw him speak once in DC and remember it being SUPER weird and focused on Russia's messianic dream of cleansing the world when I was promised a cyber talk.
Jimmy "shows that our legal system leaves us citizens subject to tremendous abuse"
Actually the system itself has so many protections and remedies written into it that none of this need have occurred. But WeThePeople have been slowly warmed in the pot over a century and a half to forget what the vision was in the first place, and we forgot that our Founders were designing around known traps and pitfalls that everybody coming here wanted to put behind them for good. So now the average man in the street does not know what his natural rights are, what tools are at his disposal to protect them, nor does he even know what that tool is for and how he would use it.
Juanita Brodderick retweeted this. Down in the replies you can see that the dems are pulling out the stops and trying to say that it isn't true, when the video plainly shows him being an absolute asshole to those people.
I do not want to hear ONE WORD from anyone who says President Trump is "un-presidential" after watching this. Obama couldn't even be polite or kind!
My hockey gear is long gone, but I still have my skates. I taught my grand daughter to ice skate initially. Many at the rink commented on my cool old skates.
They were the traditional leather boots with laces. These days they are made from plastic and have buckles, and look a lot like ski boots. The change makes sense.
It sure made me feel old, but the old skates still work well eoungh.
The level of hatred Tribe has for Trump is absolutely incomprehensible to me. They sure were hoping that mild comment about "Q" would stir up a huge hornet's nest of controversy.
All I can see is that Trump, once again, out-maneuvered them, and Tribe is left sputtering in rage and hatred to an ever-dwindling audience.
--Why Trump’s sickening tryst with QAnon is no harmless dalliance--
Nice try, Larry, but everyone is still watching you progs embracing murderous rioters, anarchists and Marxist racists.
That's the nice thing about today's progs; you don't have to conjure conspiracy theories. They commit their conspiracies right out in the open.
You know, I can just see those progs huddled in their lavish banquet room, thrilled with their idea to keep large gatherings from forming and sure, SURE that this will stop rallies and they will finally have stopped Trump!
I don't know what to make of Ray McGovern and his cohort Binney. Both Veteran Professionals for Sanity, aka VIPS. I don't trust him and never will. The VIPS were Valerie Plame apologists and as far as I'm concerned, caused more death in Iraq by their anti-war efforts.
Here's a screen cap I took of Joe Wilson's 2003 EPIC Forum bio. I grabbed it because it contained the name of his super secret CIA agent, proving it was him who outed his wife. McGovern's bio just happened to be above his.

The number of DNC convention 'Dislikes' on video streams dropped Friday below where they stood Thursday night, causing suspicion YouTube might be suppressing negative engagement for Biden.
Since we are under some sort of emergency, I want President Trump to get the Army Corps of Engineers to bulldoze down the entire UN building and tell them they have to get out of the USA. Seems to me they never do anything that is helpful. Never.
Robin - I read your post on IG explaining other awful things about the week! I'm so sorry. I second the thermos - I had one when recovering from my accident. It kept my coffee hot for hours. But let the family pamper you - you've taken care of them for years!
This Trump supporter has created a pretty good pictoral and graphic slide show. Click on the link beginning with "pic" and then click on each arrow to go left to right:
I agree also that Robin should let the famdamily pamper her. Not sure how old your kids are, but having three, by the time I was half way through high school I was pretty much done! I went away for a week without husband and younger two, and after that I never made lunches again. They can do a whole lot when left to do it themselves - from laundry to shopping, and the cooking.
You know what undercuts democracy? Not having a peaceful transition of power because one party is conducting a surveillance program on the other.

Three Gorges has “sediment sluice gates” and “surface sluice gates”. I’m not that kind of engineer, but I think the sediment gates drain from the bottom and the surface from nearer the top. Allegedly, total max discharge rate is 100K cubic meters/second.

Brennan’s spokesperson is claiming Brennan grilled Durham on why DOJ and Barr are investigating routine actions and it seems political. To me this is Brennan lying and trying to lay the groundwork to cry it’s a political hit job when he’s indicted.

Brennan and his people are pushing this narrative to try and get some in the media and others who may support him to believe Durham is political. Durham and the investigators are not. Brennan knows he’s in trouble.

So now the average man in the street does not know what his natural rights are, what tools are at his disposal to protect them, nor does he even know what that tool is for and how he would use it.

sbw,
My hockey gear is long gone, but I still have my skates.

Melinda,
The level of hatred Tribe has for Trump is absolutely incomprehensible to me. They sure were hoping that mild comment about "Q" would stir up a huge hornet's nest of controversy.
All I can see is that Trump, once again, out-maneuvered them, and Tribe is left sputtering in rage and hatred to an ever-dwindling audience.

Nice try, Larry, but everyone is still watching you progs embracing murderous rioters, anarchists and Marxist racists.
That's the nice thing about today's progs; you don't have to conjure conspiracy theories. They commit their conspiracies right out in the open.

The North Bay fire is now over 300,000 acres and second biggest in CA history.
The South Bay one is approaching 300,000 acres.
The Santa Cruz one is 63,000.
The one further north in mostly unoccupied parts of Mendocino county is about 150,000.
Weather is way cooler and more humid as the remnants of a hurricane in Baja filter up.
