Looking forward to sharing with you how my family is more SAFE and more SECURE because of President Trump. See you all on Tuesday night!
Husband is watching I know what not, but Allen Arkin is in it. He is always so funny. Loved him in The Russians are Coming and the InLaws, and Little Miss Sunshine.
I like Kelly. IMO she was a bulldog, but is married to a total douche, and her ungrateful daughter doesn’t sound much better. Seems to me she got on the Trump bandwagon way back in the condo board days, and since then their family has been a mess.
--I’m convinced a lot of poc are thinking they’re invulnerable to police these days.--
That would seem to obviate the 'dem pigs ist killin us' theme that got them mostly peacefully protesting and smash and grab retailing in the first place.
I was really glad that Levin did a good interview with Dr. Risch, and very glad that both of them illuminated how they demonstrated how the media and bureaucracy had woeked together to scare the public.
I am telling you, Martial Law is justified. Round up everyone from Fauci to Blitzer to network anchors to the heads of major drug companies and the ambassadors to China, Russia, the EU and anyone connected, and ship them all to GITMO until we can straighten this out.
My kids and grandkids need to be able to live in a safe and normal society without all of this crap!
George Conway is about as low class as a husband could be.
He's entitled to whatever political views he wants no matter how stupid they are, but to repeatedly humiliate his wife with the over the top bullshit was beneath contempt. Disgraceful and it could not possibly have helped the situation with their daughter, assuming it didn't cause it altogether.
You know I have zip knowlegde of tj financial stuff.
I know I need to be patient, but once in a while I lose it when these people start acting arrogant and scaring people who don't understand the stuff even less than I do!
Re the dems “pentagram” I don’t think they are smart enough to get that perhaps the devil rules what they do. Seems to me they just follow orders. Hence the complete absence of sense about anything by anyone these days. And the absence of any idea that they have no idea of what they do.
If I needed a better way to prove to me that God exists (already did do to son) I am very sure now.
That does not make me a religious zealot. I don’t think that is His plan for us.

One can only imagine the lawlessness & false imagery leftist activists will devise in order to provide programming to CNN & MSNBC during the @GOPconvention. We can only pray that no one is injured or worse during the production of the made for TV series.
My guess is she left to be with her kids, and to figure things out. Why all be so mean about it. She fought for Trump, and in doing that has a family that needs attention. Stop being mean about it. Families matter. I say that seriously.
Okay. Fun engaging with all of you. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be communicating on line with a bunch of strangers. Who knew! 2020 has been weird. Goodnight and God Bless.
An #explosion on the Arab gas pipeline has caused a total blackout in #Syria, the state news agency (SANA) reported on Monday, quoting the nation's electricity minister.
I know you have already headed for bed, but I want to tell you that I didn't foresee the same situation of communicating with strangers, either.
However, I want to let you know I have made true friends here, gained all sorts of knowledge, gotten great advice, and even a truly wonderful and unexpected financial benefit when my son totaled my car. These people mean a great deal to me.
I really am glad you are starting to be a regular here, and hope you will continue to pop in.
Minor note about the dissing-the-mac stuff from a few hours ago -- that key on either side of the mac spacebar is called the "splat" key, because it looks like a bug that's hit a windshield. ⌘-X means cut, ⌘-C means copy, ⌘-V means paste, ⌘-A means select-All, ⌘-F means find, ⌘-G means find-next, ⌘-W means close-window. Windoze using the control key is just stupid, because the control keys all mean other things long before windows -- including meaning those things in DOS! CTRL-C means cancel, CTRL-H means backspace, CTRL-G means the bell, CTRL-D means end-of-file, CTRL-Z means fork a new process, etc...
It was just an inspired moment when I suggested turning all the IT techs into market data techies too instead of just adding a third report to my staff.
Because of their idiot boss and his silly power play I was at odds with the IT help desk for about 3 years.
In one swell foop, they started to work for me. Oh, they didn't report to me, but to get that extra $100 a week they had to pass my course and get my approval before the raise went through.
We kept it real simple. Each of the techies got two books from the NY Institute of Finance. One explained the stock market, the other explained the bond market. Then we got a Quotron trainer in to do a "train the trainers" thing. Then those 3 IT guys trained the other 9 IT guys and gals.
The IT techs were given a couple of log-ins and all of them had the Quotron software on their PCs so that they could share time using the software and practice on how it worked.
Being computer geeks they picked up on it really quickly. When somebody thought they were ready for the "exam" I went over there and drilled them. It was relatively easy test to figure out if they had read the two books while I showed them the most advanced functions of the software. The final part of the test was them turning their backs on the PC while I sabotaged some aspects of the Quotron functionality.
It was more of a game than an exam at that point. Can you figure out what I've done or do you want Socratic questions to help you figure it out?
And to increase the learning and make it more fun, if the "examee" agreed, any techie who wasn't busy was allowed to watch and listen.
⌘ means Campground or Scenic Attraction Ahead on Scandinavian road signs. Ctrl-D kills a window, Ctrl-Z means EOF. Use of the ctrl key for certain things predates not only Windows (and DOS), but also the Mac. I only pick on the Mac because I have to use the damn things all the time, and a lot of the ways they do things are annoying as hell. 😉
Once we got approval for the concept it only took about three weeks to "certify" 12 IT help desk people for another $100 a week.
Back then it was about a 20% weekly raise for them. They ate that up.
We even managed to change the "culture" of the help desk. It was agreed that if they couldn't quickly resolve a Quotron problem via the phone that they would visit the user in person to resolve the problem. If they couldn't, they were to call me or one of my people and wait there. While they watched we would work through the problem.
Eventually they didn't need much supervision at all.
A few months later me, my boss, and the eco-challenge racer CIO were talking about the program and how well it had worked out. I pointed out that other firms poaching our IT guys might still be a problem since our best techies were now market data proficient and worth more than ordinary IT people.
We established that if we needed a 4th market data person we would consider a currently employed IT tech ahead of someone outside of the firm and that the best "market data savvy" IT people would get another bump-up in salary.
Here it got a little tricky, but the CIO bought into my logic. An "unexpected" raise is worth more than one you have asked for. A big "bump" is psychologically worth less than several "unexpected" smaller bumps received relatively quickly are.
Instead of waiting a year for an annual review they got two or three quarterly smaller increases.
They had to keep their mouths shut, as not everyone got a salary increase, but those 3-4 people knew where the money came from.
The control-key sequences are ascii non-printable characters that are older than dirt... Typing control-g on a hardcopy terminal rang the bell, control-h made the printer head move backwards. Doing a carriage return without a line-feed left you typing overtop of the line. And control-c was the “abort” key that bailed out of a program.
So when you were 3 days of runtime into 4, and you accidentally hit control-c to copy and aborted the program and lost 3 days, the urge to hunt down Bill Gates and torture him was almost irresistible!
Furniture. When I was younger I used to refinish old furniture.
I never got my hands on a real quality piece, but the old shellac finish, even if in bad condition, should not be stripped. Those things are judged just like old cars. The original finish, even in poor condition is worth more than a sparkling new finish.
To this day if I'm running a lengthy command, I type-ahead ECHO ^G so I can go goof off or do something else until I hear the Ding. I tried never to get out of the habit of using Shift-Del, Ctrl-Ins and Shift-Ins for cut, copy and paste to avoid scenarios like you described, but some applications won't support those.
You could get oak caned dining chairs real cheap. The cane was broken, yet not that hard to fix. Strip the shellac off with alcohol, fine steel wool and re-cane them.
They looked great until you sat on them with a bony butt and they made these violin string popping noises.
Several places were good places to look for old furniture. Paterson was the best. Old factories converted to warehouses with large floor-prints.
The first floor had the good stuff. The upper floors had the stuff I could afford. Tons of it.
I've studied Wallace Nutting's "Furniture Treasury." I know what I'm looking for. Well, so have they.
I never scored a major find. OTOH, I got cheap furniture that needed a little love. And for the time and effort involved it was way cheaper than buying new furniture.
WonderGirl picked up a dull brown desk for $100 at the local resale shop. Lacquer thinner and lots of elbow grease later, and an exquisite solid walnut was revealed.
Who cares if the purists turn their noses up at stripping furniture!

Thank you, Rocco, much appreciated.

Does etiquette dictate that one only burns the White parts of town after Labor Day?

Kelly Ann Conway doesn’t need to be working. She’s got a fat abusive alcoholic to take care of at home.

Was an avid photographer and documented many older pieces in...

It's got hundreds of pictures of period furniture.
I have a copy that was priced at $20 at a library sale. I offered $10 and bought it.

To this day if I'm running a lengthy command, I type-ahead ECHO ^G so I can go goof off or do something else until I hear the Ding. I tried never to get out of the habit of using Shift-Del, Ctrl-Ins and Shift-Ins for cut, copy and paste to avoid scenarios like you described, but some applications won't support those.

cathyf,
I remember using Apples on campus for my term papers back in the mid-eighties.
I was a horrible typist and the Apples let you proofread and correct your mistakes before printing things out.
Being somewhat untrustful of the new technology i was constantly saving to disk.
Type a few lines, correct, and save to disk.

I used to troll used furniture warehouses.

I guess in some ways I was an early eco fighter.

WonderGirl picked up a dull brown desk for $100 at the local resale shop. Lacquer thinner and lots of elbow grease later, and an exquisite solid walnut was revealed.
Who cares if the purists turn their noses up at stripping furniture!

cathyf,
The only old piece of furniture that I have left is an old oak teacher's desk.
It was literally falling apart. Which made it easier to liberate from a closed school when I found it.
Refinishing it was a no-brainer. Quality antique furniture needs to be left alone.
