I'm guessing you're looking for beta readers? That way you'd have several. Anyway, that's just a suggestion on how to get around glitch in email delivery.
Iggy,
Agree 100% about a good Bass Reeves movie. I see Prime Video has Hell on the Border listed as a Reeves flick. It was released in 2019. I haven’t decided if I’m going to pop the $ for it yet.
Any news on the 500? Probably too soon for the super efficient post office to have responded.
narciso, Great to have had you and Catsmeat at Niblick's Reach. Also glad that Frederick found it interesting to have gotten out of bed earlier than usual:)
Did you guys do lunch at Tortugas in Flagler Beach?
We are getting ready to batten down the hatches for Isaias but looks to be more of a soaker than wrecker.

Home and everything put away! Cats are happy I brought paper bags for them to mess with. Dogs got treats.
Personally, I think Rice has zero personality. Even less than Mike Pence. If she gets the nomination for VP I will bet you their debate is the most boring in history!

No. My elation proved unfounded and short lived.
Tracking still says it arrived at the wrong Post Office yesterday morning with the all purpose assurance that it is "in transit". When and to where remain unresolved.
My postmaster emailed the facility since they didn't answer the phone. No answer as of yet.
Has anyone ever watched a Susan Rice interview?
Low energy doesn't begin to cover it.

Inconceivable...even for Dr Demento of Delaware.
From my email traffic the last few days, our retail rents from Arlington County Va will, for the sixth month in a row starting March 1, run about 30% of normal in August but keep in mind that more than 20% of all rent checks are merely pass through expense charges like trash, utilities and lot maintenance..
Worse news is that Tenants are now beginning to throw in their towels even with my waiving 2/3 of the rent and in a few cases even more. If there was a "hope turning point" in July, it was when the county made clear that schools will remain locked down come September.
This is where TomR would say:"I don't give a damn about OL's business".

Henry, and some wonder at my anger at Trump for handing Fauci the Rose Garden stage in the first place. Go find my first post about where that would lead knowing what "everybody" in DC knew about Fauci and tell me I was wrong.
A few years ago I had the unfortunate experience of sharing a cottage with a postal worker union president. He married one of my wife's best friends so I had no say in the arrangement. A typical dem hack, as are all of them. And just like the Teamsters stuffed the ballot boxes for Kennedy, these bums will do it for Biden.
hoyden, I think I'm going to like the Aeropress. I bought mine from AeroPress with the 2 Ameuus metal filters thinking I wouldn't have to buy the paper filters and I also read that the paper ones absorb some of the coffee's oils which contribute to the taste. I'm still tinkering with the coffee to water ratio but here's what I'm doing so far. Using the microwave, I heat up a 16 oz bottle of water in a mason jar for 4 mins, 30 secs. Using the inverted method and the supplied spoon, 2 scoops of coffee go into the press, then the hot water to the top. Stir for 30 secs and then let it steep for 3 mins. Screw the filters on top, flip it over and press about 4 ounces into a large mug. Then I pour the rest of the hot water in the mug filling it up and using the whole 16 ounces of water. I'm probably making it sound harder than it is, but I am figuring out the recipe this way. My only complaint is it's not hot enough so I'm going to take porch's advice and buy a tea kettle and eliminate the microwave BS. But I do like it!
Thanks Jane. As a belt and suspenders guy my partners and I are personally always prepared for Black Swans but they piss me off when they are Blue on Blue rounds fired by my own team.
well, OL is in the rich kulak class, so he's one of the eggs that has to be broken to make the omelet. (Pardon me, my mind is still on that wonderful film about the disgusting Walter Duranty,"Mr. Jones".)
The 'garden variety kleptocracy' has discovered that they can use education, especially the digital learning these lockdowns make almost de rigeur, to access the 'inner man' of future voters and ensure they are in a position to loot in perpetuity.
All while claiming Equity and Whole Person Learning and parents have no clue.
When President Trump revoked President Obama’s oppressive AFFH rule, we all knew that Democrats and lefty media hacks like Eugene Robinson would accuse him of racism. But I didn’t expect conservative bloggers to support that claim. And I certainly didn’t expect anyone at Hot Air, my favorite conservative blog, to do so.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
Interesting, clarice; it wasn't available free on Amazon Prime (or unPrime, Bezos). I'll reaearch it to see if it was shown around here in any of the cinematheques.
Could someone explain to me how the federal government can give back to tax payers, money collected by local town, cities and school districts? A great idea if possible.
Boy do they get a LOT wrong about that AFFH Rule from Shaun Donovan. A LOT. It was way more intrusive on multi-family housing requirements, right down to the construction and mortgage rules on the bank side, even before credit committee deliberations.
And a whole swath of like minded municipalities wrote the rule guidelines INTO their long term planning guides. So it's ingrained, until those plans get reviewed in the next 10 to 25 years.
Rocco, following two concepts "all money is fungible" and "the feds send more money back to S&L governments for all sorts of things" than might be in dispute, the feds might, rather than send money previously sent for X, send it instead to taxpayers deprived of Y.
Until the first Prog Judge says stop that which will take about ten minutes.
Judge order Kim Gardner to turn over communications with Soros…
This week, a St. Louis judge ordered Kim Gardner to hand over all communications related to her decision to charge Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, a case she later dropped because of lack of evidence. Gardner is under active criminal investigation for activity in the case against Greitens.
clarice, looking at the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes makes it look like nobody saw it until February, and most of them in the UK, with most (but still not a large number) domestic reviews happening in late June.
Rocco, 16 oz would fill my mug nicely. I have some serious resistance watering down the pressed coffee with the uncoffee'd water. OTOH, with two scoops of coffee that just might work out. I've put half a scoop with 8 oz which is only half as strong your method. I assume you are using the scoop that came with Aeropress. I do enjoy the option to tinker with the method, not possible with the automatic. I have two Aeropress so I could make a double batch if I get another mesh.
OK, if you have ever wanted to shoot your self for being stuck in yet another never ending meeting with a bunch of bureaucrats, you might enjoy the last 5 minutes or so of this local county level steering committee to select a steering committee for unifying our fire and EMT operations. As a starting point there are never more than three words in a row that are not delivered with a beta lilt and use every conceivable pukeworthy term/phrase that permeates group discussions.
What brings it all to a hilarious conclusion is someone with their Zoom mike on says something like “go ahead, roll your eyes, bitch!”
"Fact-checking" sites have pointed out that the "misleading" articles about cops being blinded by rioters using hand-held lasers are using a photograph from last year that was taken in Chile.
Someone should let the blinded LEOs know. I'm sure it will be of great comfort to them.
Thanks OL, I just can't see how parents can get a refund of their property taxes to pay for private schooling.
One things for certain, The unions are embracing the 1619 Project and that has to stop. Not to mention BLM and removing police from schools. That's almost 5 million teachers.
I pressed a full AeroPress full of water into a Pyrex measuring cup and the most I could squeeze or press out was 4 ounces. Maybe enough for an Expresso but clearly not enough for a decent cup of coffee. I had watched a YouTube and noticed the guy making the coffee poured hot water into his cup to fill it up as the last step. I have no idea if that's right but it works for me.
Rocco, if there is one concept that HAS NEVER OCCURRED at any level of government since say March 1, it is "Perhaps we should cut expenses and not pay unessential workers who are not even working for work they are not doing."
You know, like say 40,000,000 actual private sector workers who got sent home...
Funny thing is, Cap'n, except for closed schools have you really cared that so many S&L workers aren't?
Government saps 40% (OK shoot me...whatever the number is...) of the productivity away from the private sector and adds almost no value in return for that and in many many cases actually takes away.
Back in Feudal times, families worked the owners' land in return for the owner receiving a lot of the land's production. The serfs lived on the rest and traded some of their share to others for what else they needed.
How many month's labor went to the Prince, and how many stayed with the serf?
Are we all serf's already? ...Forget "Road to..." I think we have arrived.
--Government saps 40% (OK shoot me...whatever the number is...) of the productivity away from the private sector and adds almost no value in return for that and in many many cases actually takes away.--
You're so ignorant.
Haven't you heard of that magical "multiplier" that mysteriously, through the invisible fist of government, transforms one dollar confiscated from its owner, with ten cents transferred to some hobo and 90 cents swallowed by the bureaucracy into a buck fifty or two bucks?
Pelosinomics even makes the nation wealthier by forcing people into unemployment, borrowing or taxing those still working, and then giving it to the unemployed to multiply wealth as well.
Like the minimum wage, if they actually believed this then the minimum wage would be $X per hour, where X equals how high wombat Pelosi can count and we would actually place everyone on unemployment and pay them more than they were making on the job to multiply our way into economic nirvana.

Interesting, clarice; it wasn't available free on Amazon Prime (or unPrime, Bezos). I'll reaearch it to see if it was shown around here in any of the cinematheques.
John Roberts needs to be eliminated by any means.

Hilarity ensues.

That's almost 5 million teachers.

hoyden,
I pressed a full AeroPress full of water into a Pyrex measuring cup and the most I could squeeze or press out was 4 ounces.

Posted by: Old Lurker | August 01, 2020 at 01:40 PM
OL, The cluelessness of the public sector throughout this has been staggering, like they think nobody is noticing.
Posted by: Captain Hate | August 01, 2020 at 01:46 PM
Funny thing is, Cap'n, except for closed schools have you really cared that so many S&L workers aren't?
Government saps 40% (OK shoot me...whatever the number is...) of the productivity away from the private sector and adds almost no value in return for that and in many many cases actually takes away.
Worst 40% spent in history.
Excuse me.
"Invested"
Posted by: Old Lurker | August 01, 2020 at 01:55 PM
I often wonder.
