I am sitting here still decompressing from being “on the front lines 🙄” but yes still actually decompressing. The front lines wear one down, but I also feel so confident and rebellious at the same time. My business is booming, but I hate why it is so. Go Trump, but I hope we can break free of this mask issue soon.
“The NBA never said no to the players. They okayed everything — political messages on jerseys, kneeling for the national anthem, political messages on the court itself — and it still wasn’t enough. And now their business doesn’t exist. Lesson: you can’t ever be woke enough.”
A suspect in a murder shot himself, false rumors spread that he’d been killed by cops, and hello it’s time to start looting the Target. A helpful citizen with a bullhorn went around telling people that the cops didn’t shoot the guy, and the narrative switched to “we are permitted to destroy because the cops used mace back at the Target store.”
South China Sea tension rises amid US blacklisting, report of Beijing missile fire 'warning'
"...the Commerce Department reported that it had added 24 state-owned Chinese enterprises, including subsidiaries of the China Communications Construction Company, to its commercial blacklist for their roles in constructing artificial islands and other activities that cause major environmental damage and infringe on other nations' claims."
The news out of NT was a bizarre trifecta, Cuomo dissing the CDC for changing their guidelines on quarantine and testing, after claiming he was following CDC guidelines to force Covid-19 people into nursing homes.
deBlasio saying he had no timeline for reopening restaurants because that was a bourgeois thing anyway.
The MTA demanding $12 billion federal dollars to keep the mass transit system operating even though there is no mass to transport.
I'm not a FED basher. I believe the US needs a central bank.
I am cognizant that the FED, over many years, has often implemented the wrong policy.
If they are correct that the FED will announce that the inflation rate is now a soft target, that they will allow a "band" around that number that might be exceeded that they also just tell everybody that they have lost their way.
First of all they can't raise interest rates any time soon without choking off a recovery. And we have no idea what that recovery is going to look like. It obviously won't be a typical recovery with all of the restrictions on businesses that still exist.
And in calculating an inflation rate you buy a "market basket" of the same goods and calculate the rate of change. Supermarkets don't have to hold sales to get people into their stores anymore. And some supply line issues have made some goods scarce or higher priced. Customers have lost bargaining power. "Value" shoppers, who only buy when things go on sale have seen that strategy broken.
Retail bankruptcies are going to have the opposite effect. Certain categories of goods are going to be on the market at reduced prices until the market for those goods clear.
The CPI is going to be a GIGO measure for a long time with all of these dislocations.
Kayleigh did not have to speak on national TV and tell every single person on Planet Earth that she'd had a mastectomy. And she won't earn any sympathy from reporters; they'll use the info for cruel tweets.
No, she did it because she wants Teh Donald to win.
And this is the small thing she can do to help.
And his supposedly beloved working class will have less. Mayor Bane, like Stalin, Castro, Chavez before him, is more than happy to sacrifice the masses in the service of "la revolución."
James "Is there any government produced statistic or measure that is not GIGO (or just plain garbage with no qualifier) at this point?"
You are being way too kind, James. "GIGO" suggests random error...some high, some low. I think of every government statistic...every government statistic unless I know otherwise...was produced by ten floors of Deep State drones with the simple goal of producing a figure that supports their agenda.
And she won't earn any sympathy from reporters; they'll use the info for cruel tweets.
This is a surprise?
Whatever they may be like in their private lives, whatever good qualities they may have, the vast majority of reporters (certainly at the national level) have chosen to present themselves publicly as vicious, soulless assholes who loathe anyone not in lockstep agreement with Democrat Party beliefs.
Good thread on the Fed. Ignore the details of the attempted copper squeeze, he doesn’t quite “get” how commodity mkts work, which is fine. All the other details are spot on. Just leaves out the Trustbusters revenge:

At one point I was hopeful that the House and the Senate could agree on another stimulus bill. Now I'm glad they didn't.
In hindsight there was just too large a chasm between what the House wanted and what the Senate could agree to.
And the requests and demands that are happening now would have led to another stimulus bill.
If things are going to fail without federal bailouts, let's just work through that.
