Wow, 2006. 'box has been around for a while!

For a non-regular, yep. I think Jane's heartfelt comment references something prior, btw.

James D.

Ig @ 12:03

Absolutely agree.

I noticed that too but I think his later point was that even if they do have a marginal effect [affect? :)] it is only temporary and just pushes whatever disease they forestall into the future.

Fair enough, though I don't think he put it that way. The other thing is that he doesn't explain why the timing is different in the south and west US and relatively tropical places like Brazil. For the SW my theory is the hot weather shutting people indoors with A/C. That might also explain why Africa didn't see very much impact.

Captain Hate

On TWA800, Cashill had a book, did he not?

Just reserved it at the library; like I need something else to piss me off...

CH quotes some pungent stuff on 'child porn':
"The Bulwark's "Culture Editor" defends Cuties, attacks critics ... I saw a clip of 11 year old girls wagging their assholes and pumping their vages in my fucking face"

Here in CA we have a recent state Senate bill that child molesters can avoid the Sex Offender database if the age difference is 10 years or less and the sex is "voluntary".
It's sponsored by SF's Scott Wiener and is hailed as a victory for LBGTQ

The CaliforniaUnderground podcast had an episode which discusses that it is notable that if you scroll through donations to Sen Wiener you see a LOT of people and orgs located in Burbank, the home of Hollywood. Warner Bros, Disney, both groups/PACs and individual employees.
Ask yourself: why?
(Episode 37, near the end)

Tax it and they will leave. #icantcounthathigh

Hrts, I don't. What a pathetic person that Dale is. I don't even remember him/her.

Best comment on that page is the last one!

Kenosha asshole sainted by cnn.

Hey, Jane, thanks. Looking at it again, and thinking on it, I guess it was pretty early on for my posts; clearly "Dale" is the regular and I'm the interloper. So I guess I really wasn't posting on JOM during the Reagan era, before Al Gore even invented the internet!

I couldn't finish either the Esquire piece or the September 11 video/poem.

Just too sad.

Donald J. Trump
Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain agree to a Peace Deal – the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days!

Yet again the pandemic is the excuse for the already desired shift.

Our dogshit popular culture is loaded with pedophilia excuse makers and I'm not shutting up about it. And that includes some mentally ill see you next Tuesday photographers who think its "arty" to take naked pictures of their children.

Several of these fires have fronts in remote wilderness areas. For the most part those are left to burn until other fronts are stopped, but there are some smoke jumpers where they want to slow it down.

I spent 3 hours on the phone today with Apple. My account has been shut down since April for unknown reasons. I have to say the people I dealt with couldn't have been nicer despite the fact that I'm dumb as a plug.

"When terrorists raced to destroy the seat of our democracy, the 40 of Flight 93 did the most American of things—they took a vote, and then they acted.

Together they charged the cockpit, they confronted the pure evil, and in their last act on this earth, they saved our capital." pic.twitter.com/U0JVIqbQfM

The terrorists on Flight 93 had a fourth target in mind: our nation's capital.

I was pretty new here then too. I came in during the Libby trial, and I still remember my first post. I asked Clarice: "What does 2 + 2 = 5 mean? I don't recall the answer.

Found my “first” comment:

They must be panicking. Beevis calling it all political. (Or is he butthead?)

“Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham, has resigned from the Justice Department probe out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done.”

UPDATE: I recreated the log of Mueller team's phones to see how many unique phones were wiped. Some didn't have an ID assigned, so an exact count isn't yet possible, but:

Mueller's team wiped at least 27 and as many as 31 iPhones. At least two of the phones were wiped twice.

Good luck, Liz.

Gotta wonder what she was like as girl, dontcha?

TK, it appears you killed that particular thread.

"Entering Austin is dangerous!" signed, Austin police dept

Texas cop group puts up billboards on interstate near Austin warning drivers to 'enter at your own risk' after the city cut $150 million in funding from police department

Robin, eff 'em all

The teachers' union here in Ithaca might have finally killed the golden goose. Families with multiple kids in public school got their remote learning schedules and have elected to homeschool. It's purely anecdotal at this point, but teachers are freaking out about the funding that will be eliminated for next year with this year's withdrawal numbers.

What did they think was going to happen?

Did "Apple" call you or did you call them?

Possibly sweet as pie, anonomom.
Personality disorders, like most mental illness usually don't manifest until after puberty and in early adulthood, though there are exceptions.
My semi-psycho brother was pretty ordinary up until late teens. Same with my schizophrenic son.
There's often something different or 'off' but they're pretty minor until looking back they are seen as the red flags they were.

I don’t write the headlines for my @washingtonpost columns —I just write the columns and the headline team works out the headline— but today’s is perfect: “The haters won’t admit it, but @realDonaldTrump’s UAE-Israel diplomacy is an extraordinary triumph.”

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--What did they think was going to happen?--

Yes! My all purpose tagline for the irrational.

These people don't read the shite they write and thus prove their IQs are sub-70:

Since everyone is pining for the moon. We need one of these to settled them down:

I question the timing:

Replying to @RadGeekpartduex @JarradKushner
Her resignation is confirmed.

Tom Winter @Tom_Winter
NBC News: A spokesperson confirms that Nora Dannehy has resigned from the Justice Department, but did not provide a reason for her departure.

The Hartford Courant reports that she resigned because she felt pressure from AG William Barr for results in the Durham investigation.

Robin, On 9/11 my teacher neighbor came over after school. (There is a military base that edges our town and two others. And we have sandy soil, and are practically at sea level, etc). She said teachers were saying that there are nuclear bombs at the base and that Cape Cod would be targeted.

Ah yeah, that's when I really understood there was a problem with many of the teachers. Not an ounce of common sense. Did they think they just put the bombs in the parking lot?!

Old Lurker

Henry “Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham, has resigned from the Justice Department probe out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done.”

Whatever this really is, it is a failure in leadership between the AG and the USA. In a tight chain of command, this would not happen. But if either or both the AG or the USA are Deep Staters, this is exactly how they show POTUS who is actually in charge, and how they can up the odds on running him out of the WH.

I would further note that "resigning from the probe" implies keeping the cushy DOJ gig. That would also point at her boss, or his boss, or both of them are trying to make Trump look bad by inference, but without hurting the hitman assigned to pull the trigger.

Old Lurker

OK, Mel's has her leaving the DOJ, but Henry's just leaving the case.

From the DoJ, not just "The Probe".

The Courant is as reliable as The Red Star of Mpls.

I hate 9/11 for all the troofer derp that inevitably appears.

Old Lurker

Also, as to those wiped phones. We learn this now, two years after the fact? Might that have seemed odd to the IG's?

Unless, of course all of the investigations were just pretend all along.

Gotta wonder what she was like as girl, dontcha?

Would you believe her father was a VP at Enron?

And now she's adopting the "Officer Krupke" defense? (Ok, "mental," not "social," but equally lame.)

matt - deplore me if you must

How long has Durham been on the case? How complex is it? How draining is it?

The reports all seem to exclude the obvious; burnout, boredom, etc. People leave jobs all the time but in DC it is always political.

The Durham news has been quiet for a bit so the media are probably doing more damage control.

Durham was chosen because of his objectivity and tenacity. The same can be said of Barr. Their allegiance is to the Constitution and their loyalty is to the office of the President. The media won't admit this.

To Ms. Homes, I'll use the follow-on from West Side Story: "Krup You!"

We just learned of them this week while others may have known about it, and have the data already.

Because either is just as valid.

Robin, eff 'em all

What this country needs is a fountain of smart, we have enough youth.

Stupid questions:

But per Snowden, wouldn't the NSA have all the info from those wiped with a cloth phones anyway? And wouldn't that be accessible to Durham?

Ha Robin!

I think at some point the colleges and universities
will do to themselves what almost every other institution has done. Go woke and go broke. My private high school sent an email that they now have an "equity and inclusion officer." Good luck with that! I stopped giving them a small donation years ago.

We are seeing a HUGE change in this country. Not sure what the outcome will be. There are some good teachers and profs everywhere, but at some point they and every body else must start speaking up. That is very hard to do in this super charged environment. Son saw the light a long time ago, and oldest (the private school teacher) had a light bulb moment this week. Yet the letters to the local paper are all from complete loons this week. Silent majority perhaps is staying silent.

I guess we are all arming ourselves first - just in case. Hubs received his LTC today!

Scary times!

As Jim Sunnyvale might say ...

Thread from Carlos Osweda with a discussion of how Trump operates in both management and diplomacy.

In the middle is a 19-minute video from the Oval Office with people involved in the Bahrain deal, including Pence, Kushner, Friedman and others. The bile rising in people like Jonathan Karl and jim Acosta must have been immense, as these people thanked the President for his leadership and ideas.
