The funny thing is that as entrenched as they are the smart move, even without hindsight, was to lay low and hope Drumpf fucks up and, even if that doesn't happen wait until he's gone and the GOP goes back to promoting globalist losers. sbw: "If the election turns ugly, could Pompeo become President?"
This scenario included Dems leaving DC to hide at the Tilted Kilt, or maybe Joe's basement, to prevent a quorum.
But in the comments people noted that only 1 member of a state's Congressional delegation needs to show up. The number of states with 100% Dem membership is not enough to deny a quorum.
As I've said before, ironically that blabbermouth Hugh Hewitt was the first person to unmask Eddie but I think he was too busy bloviating to realize he did it.

Joe Biden said last year that he kicked off his academic career at Delaware State University, a historically black university, but the institution has now denied that claim.
Biden made the declaration before the South Carolina Democratic primary - which he won by a landslide - during an October 2019 town hall event at Wilson High School in Florence
'I got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State — now, I don’t want to hear anything negative about Delaware State. They’re my folks,' Biden told the crowd.
But a spokesperson for Delaware State University has now denied that the Democratic presidential nominee was a student at the school, The Washington Times reported
'Vice President Biden did not attend DSU,' Carlos Holmes, Director of News Services, told the publication.

You have to feel sorry for people who succumb to the panic. I see them every day, since I'm in an area where masks are essentially voluntary. I carry one on my arm, and yesterday at Subway a healthy looking guy in his 40s asked me to put it on, after I stood more than 6' behind him for several minutes. I just looked at him and said ok and put it on until he got his sammies and left. That's the only reason I carry it, so I was happy to comply.
No sense scaring people or contributing to their fears, but it's a shame how manipulated people can be. The girl making his sandwiches had her mask down below her nose, but that didn't scare him. smh
The ONLY thing it's good for is a visual way to sort out the losers. Not in the stores where it's required, but out and about, especially outside in nice weather.
Last night was a hoot. We went to an old German biergarten in a tiny town northwest of here. It's a popular destination spot. There had to be 250-300 people there and only about one out of 20 were wearing masks. I wouldn't say they were packed together exactly but each table was full and there were long lines with not a ton of distancing.
There was a band playing and someone in the audience yelled "Freedom!" and the singer said "you got that right buddy."
This was in conservative Williamson County. So great to see. People were taking videos of the crowd but not in a Karen way, in a "this is so awesome" way.
At Albertsons yesterday as I was self-scanning my purchases a male Karen came up to the clerk that hovers in the area and asks him, “Are you enforcing mask requirements in this store?” Of course the employee says “yes.” Karen informs him that there’s a guy not wearing his mask properly. Employee replies, “well, we’ll go ask him to wear it properly.” I look at the rat and say, “good job...KAREN”. The look on his face was priceless.
Oh, there were several good-looking Frauleins in full dirndl St. Pauli Girl getup, and some young gentlemen to match. Even some kids were dressed up. Can't wait to go back again in October.
This is falling down several rabbit holes simultaneously. Never heard of this guy, but he ain’t stupid and he’s clearly conservative. Just don’t have any preconceptions about the boundaries of reality, because he will leap past all of them.
This year, we have neither a typical incumbent nor a typical challenger. President Trump’s approach to debates doesn’t rely on preparation. He relies less on knowledge of facts than on a combination of sweeping statements with some factual basis, his physical presence, and put downs. He probably can pull these things off in his sleep.
The one topic that I doubt Trump can bluster his way through is the pandemic, for which a segment of approximately 15 minutes will be set aside. I expect Biden to pound Trump on this subject. Undoubtedly, the script has already been prepared for him.
Trump has okay defenses of his handling of the pandemic, but I haven’t heard him blend them into a persuasive case. He usually relies on attacking China and on factually dubious claims about the U.S. is doing in relation to other countries.
Of course there’s NO chance Trump might just kill it, right, PM?
I can't see scaring people on purpose, especially if someone is that worried, like this guy apparently was to take several minutes to get his courage up. Yes, they should be the ones wearing masks, and he had a good one on, but I'm not going to get into a fight over it, at least until the legal mandate is lifted.
Nobody at the local liquor store had masks on (our Governor extended his mask charade through Thanksgiving). Got some double takes on my”legalize freedom” tshirt. ;)
You wanna play this game? Hitler was the second-in-command in the German government in 1934. His side had the street mob. The German president was a feeble old man who signed whatever his younger, radical underlings put on his desk. That's how the Republic died.

Someone highlighted some NYT comments on this piece by Linda Chavez on Trump's success with Hispanic voters.

Very telling.
I remember Linda Chavez as a NeverTrumper in 2016. Either I'm remembering incorrectly or she appears to have changed her mind.

Typical Mirengoff:
Of course there’s NO chance Trump might just kill it, right, PM?

I can't see scaring people on purpose, especially if someone is that worried, like this guy apparently was to take several minutes to get his courage up. Yes, they should be the ones wearing masks, and he had a good one on, but I'm not going to get into a fight over it, at least until the legal mandate is lifted.

Tstorms and a cold front about to blow through here.

Nobody at the local liquor store had masks on (our Governor extended his mask charade through Thanksgiving). Got some double takes on my”legalize freedom” tshirt. ;)

Lyle, it’s win the debate or win the votes?
Didn’t we hear Mirengoff’s crap in 2016? He managed the Republican primary debates and the debates against Hillary, no?
It won’t be conventional though. Only question is feature or bug.

Dan McLaughlin @baseballcrank
This is bonkers.
You wanna play this game? Hitler was the second-in-command in the German government in 1934. His side had the street mob. The German president was a feeble old man who signed whatever his younger, radical underlings put on his desk. That's how the Republic died.

My brother writes on Facebook (brought a tear to my eye):
As I am closing by business of 39 years because of Covid19 I am running out of time to vacate. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? With some work to finish (8000 chocolates to wrap) and not enough time to finish it, I reach out to my dear friend [Name]
to see if she can help wrap chocolate for a couple hours this Sunday. She showed up to help. She posted on her neighbors web site and two people she had met, who had just closed their business, volunteered -- THEN two people Elena Lawson has never met volunteered. THEN [Another name] Charleston Animal Society Volunteered and showed up. So I ended up with 10 people to help me and we finished what needed to be done.
When adversity strikes neighbors step up.... Amazing (while some people are burning small businesses!) neighbors helping neighbors in times of distress. God bless those that helped me today.

"We must fight back, and she will have to be feisty up there in front of that panel of Dem halfwits. I totally hope ACB, when asked about the inevitable hook-up claim, responds with something along the lines of, “Oh, I remember him, but we never did anything. He couldn’t make it, you know, happen. It was pretty embarrassing for both of us. I hear he now writes for the Bulwark."
