Louisville Grand Jury indicts and it looks like Chicago's going to get it in the neck all over again:

At 2:30: @chicagosmayor @ToniPreckwinkle and @GovPritzker are holding a joint press conference "to address the decision in the Breonna Taylor case."

Earlier, JBP said the National Guard was ready: "for the idea that there may be peaceful protests or something beyond that."

On page 80 of the Grassley report it shows multiple wire transfers (~$1.4M total) to not only a consulting firm and Hunter Biden, but to Sara Jones Biden. Gotta spread the grift around to all the kiddies!!

That ‘little’ transfer will be hard to explain...

lyle

that can be undone, but a lot more expensively.

Bingo. Any estate plan changes can be done...at a price. Especially if the bequeather(s) is/are still living. After death, estate plan changes get much more complicated and much more expensive. If there are any trusts involved, well...the attorneys see a LOT more billable hours...

I get easily triggered at the concept of someone not being able to dispose of the stash accumulated over a lifetime of effort as they wish.

There’s one little trick to really make sure this happens: add the wording to the will that if any beneficiary, primary or successor, attempts to challenge it, they’re disinherited.

--There’s one little trick to really make sure this happens: add the wording to the will that if any beneficiary, primary or successor, attempts to challenge it, they’re disinherited.--

Yeah, but that doesn't do a whole lot of good if the woodwork relatives are alleging undue influence, unsound mind etc.
Best insurance in my experience was a videotape of the person making the bequest demonstrating a sound mind on tape and having the attorney who drew up the trust testifying. So make sure you get a competent, YOUNG attorney. :)

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--After death, estate plan changes get much more complicated and much more expensive. If there are any trusts involved, well...the attorneys see a LOT more billable hours...--

Many if not most become irrevocable upon the death of the grantor and have to, to gain any tax advantages. In the case of a Trust A, Trust B half the estate becomes irrevocable upon the first grantor's death and if someone, even the surviving grantor wants to do some revocatin to the half attributed to the decedent they better be ready for a very difficult time finding a court to do so and, if it has any size, the taxman standing ready to collect the pennies from the decedent's eyes.

lyle

It’ll still cost the woodwork relatives lots o’ cash to challenge it, Ig. That’s usually—but not always—a big deterrent. But start adding zeroes to any estate and the potential for ugliness goes up exponentially.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Well, this is yet another 2020 day that should have been spent in bed with the covers pulled up. An unforecast wind storm rolled in about 3:00 am blowing 35, gusting to 50 kts and laid half the stuff on the deck over. Then, from the time I step out of the shower and over to the sink to shave, the water pressure went away. In fact there was a hissing sound from the air sucking into the faucet. Hmmm. After some scrambling we discover a particularly stupid water works guy from town water decided to cut the line a couple doors down without notifying anyone. Two of my cousins got our spinster aunt to make a will after dementia had started at 92. They got 40% instead of a seventh each if she hadn't, plus one got $60k in executor fees. UNC got twice the 5% each the rest of us got. There's no way my aunt in her right mind would have split it unevenly like that, and she knew my sister really needs the money, since the step-monster all but cleaned out my father.

People unfamiliar with the Louisville area may not realize that it sits on the Ohio River right across from New Albany, Indiana.

If those ppotential rioters were trying to avoid the Louisville police or Kentucky syaye troopers, they might have thought that renting the U-Hauls in New Albany might have been a way to avoid detection.

If we are lucky and they did that and they crossed from Indina, I believe it becomes a federal offense and AG Barr can go after the rental records, credit card accounts, etc.

‘Wired to make money’: Barclays’ private bankers serve ultra-rich, as watchdogs sound alarms

https://www.icij.org/investigations/fincen-files/wired-to-make-money-barclays-private-bankers-serve-ultra-rich-as-watchdogs-sound-alarms/

The FinCEN Files investigation exposes tensions between British bank’s New York and London operations.

Ivor Ichikowitz recoils at the arms industry’s “reputation for being very cloak-and-dagger.”

“We are not in the destroying-anything business,” the 53-year-old founder of South African arms company Paramount Group told CNBC a few years ago. “We’re in the protecting business.”

His bankers at Barclays, the global financial group based in the United Kingdom, have been happy to have his business, profitably moving hundreds of millions for Ichikowitz and his companies.

But in recent years in-house watchdogs at Barclays have sounded alarms about corruption allegations involving Ichikowitz, raising questions about whether he engaged in the kind of secretive maneuvers he bristled about in public. They flagged more than $430 million in transactions, which moved through the bank for more than five years beginning in August 2011 as suspect, according to closely guarded suspicious activity reports, known as SARs, that were obtained by BuzzFeed News and reviewed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

After firing off several warnings to the U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, known as FinCEN, Barclays hired an outside private intelligence firm co-headed by former British spy Christopher Steele to dig deeper. The resulting brief raised even more red flags, citing sources who said Ichikowitz had parlayed political donations into military contracts in South Africa, according to a report Barclays sent to FinCEN.

Banks are required to exercise greater care when serving politically-connected clients who are viewed as more vulnerable to bribery or corruption because of their senior positions, the countries they reside in or their industries. Sometimes, banks flag their money movements, not necessarily because the transactions are suspicious, but rather because of general concerns about clients and their businesses.

Barclays in New York “remains concerned with Ichikowitz and his companies’ source of wealth and Ichikowitz’s possible involvement in bribery and corruption,” compliance officers wrote in the December 2017 SAR.

The documents, part of a larger leak known as the FinCEN Files, offer an unparalleled view into how controls within large global banks intended to keep tainted money from moving around the globe collide with their overriding imperative to churn out bigger and bigger profits. The reports also point to a regulatory regime unequal to the task of policing banks’ profit-driven movement of illicit cash.

"Calls to boycott 'woke' Costco after it pulls popular Palmetto Cheese from 120 stores because dairy company founder slammed BLM as 'a terror organization'

Costco removed the pimento cheese brand nearly a month after company founder Brian Henry's controversial comments
Henry, who is also mayor of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, tried to downplay the move, saying Costco rotates items 'as a matter of normal business'
It comes after Henry, who is white, slammed BLM and wrote 'all lives matter' in a Facebook post about two white people who were allegedly killed by a black man
Local chapter of NAACP called on Henry to resign as mayor, and his critics launched hashtag #BoycottPimento on social media
Henry later apologized for his comments, calling them 'hurtful and insensitive'
#boycottcostco was trending on Twitter Wednesday, with hundreds of users decrying the retailer's decision

NYTimes: Republican Inquiry Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by Biden

WASHINGTON — An election-year investigation by Senate Republicans into corruption allegations against Joseph R. Surely this is Section 230?
If you are a website that just posts comments, you can't be sued for the contents of those comments. But if you are, say, a newspaper and you choose certain Letters to the Editor to publish, you can be sued for the content of the letters because you are proactively choosing them. You've taken responsibility for them.

This has been cited as a reason to dump on Facebook Google, Twitter, etc which use "community standards" to choose which (conservative) viewpoints to delete.
