Sound the bell for Round One. One hundred, that is - we've begun a new chapter in the Judicial Neverending War, Judicial Subdivision.

Janice Rogers Brown is the California Supreme Court Justice that I was thinking of this morning. It's such a shame that she never made it to the SCOTUS.
I saw yesterday that another judge ordered a six month (?) extension in the prohibition on Apartment Landlords who want to evict non paying tenants who lost their jobs due to Covid.
At the same time, there are all of those colleges which had outbreaks where their reaction was to evict the possibly-infected and possibly-infectious students from their dorm rooms and force them to disperse all over the country spreading any virus with them! (looking at you NC State!)
WTF is wrong with these people? WTF is wrong with the 90% of our fellow citizens who feel sorry for the students and sympathize with the administrators "forced" to send the students home?!? When this was NOT something that they were "forced" to do and was incredibly reckless and incredibly stupid and so obviously the WRONG thing to do!!!
The ONLY reason that forcing students to disperse widely didn't result in the exact same complete catastrophe as forcing nursing homes to take infected elderly people is that this is such a trivial infection for virtually all college-age students and most of their parents (who are 40- or 50-somethings.)
So we've got all of these college students sent home because of a hoax, and if it wasn't a hoax then it would have been a crime against humanity!
That's what just about every person and or doctor says if there are no tumors visible and markers are in the normal range.
It's perfectly understandable and sometimes it's true but there is usually a certain amulet quality to it.
She went into detail, explaining how her husband Jesse asks her every morning what he could do for her that day, as a preemptive strike on the submissive wife attack.
Zero hedge is really the worst for Covid sensationalism, at east for places that ought to know better. New York Suffers Most New COVID-19 Cases Since June As US Outbreak Accelerates: Live Updates
New York has, literally, for every single day since June 5th [111 consecutive days] had an increase of new 'cases' of either .1% or .2% and for every single day since Aug 1st they have had an increase in deaths of .01-.04% per day.
Cluck bait.
Too bad the Barrett family didn't just loot Haiti like the Clinton Crime Family instead of giving those children the gift of welcoming them into their family. Is that really the tactic the race baiters want to use?
Thanks, I normally just live with it. However, I was spoken hatefully to tonight, and it really hurt me. I am hanging out here with people who haven't been brainwashed.
Science is always political. Why do you think every major science organization has offices in DC?
If the editorial had been published a year ago, I would have resented it, but it wouldn't have rankled me so. To publish such a thing on the first page of a scientific journal a month before an election is so nakedly partisan that, jaded as I've become, it still shocked me.

This is mainly the enemedia's fault. They continue to ignore polls that show how little respect they have here. Maybe China will continue to subsidize them but that's taking a huge leap in more ways than one.
Sorry MM.
The most destructive and pernicious concept from the progs is "the personal is political".
That is what moves politics from the realm of differing opinions to the realm of your opinion cannot be tolerated and must be shouted down or stamped out, even among families and friends.
The Power of a Growing International F-35 Community
"The United States is rapidly building an international community based around the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The military value of such a community is indisputable. The F-35 will be one of the pillars supporting the creation of a new, sensor-rich way of warfare."
"Control over access to software and particular electronic systems can vary the amount and quality of information the aircraft can take in and process as well as the types of weapons it can operate."
It's not just another plane in the usual evolution. It's also a flying computer network system with sensors and access to input from sensors from other assets.
jim_nj, connected F35s... swarm intelligence. Remember a tank joined the network with F35s to take out a cruise missile with its main gun? All in, all services swarm, plus allies.. Like space, a new dimension to warfare.
I think those who suggest a vote with no hearings are missing the big picture. It seems to me that the senate democrats are over a barrel: they've got to attack Barrett to satisfy their base no matter how bad it makes them look to the general public.
A further comment:
'side note: “EPA Regional Administrator Judith Enck called the bill “the single most comprehensive plastics and paper reduction bill in the nation.”” — If that isn’t out of context and was said in the context that Judith thinks this was smart…. why does she still have a job in this administration?'
I assume the answer to that one is 'Civil Service job, can't fire'

--That's fixable if it hasn't gotten to the lymph nodes.--
I believe that is backwards. The lymphatic system along with the circulatory system functions as the primary route of metastasis. Cancers are still often curable if the nearest lymph nodes are positive but ones further along are negative for cancer cells. Those are typically staged as Stage 2 or 3 though primary tumor size and other factors enter into it and they are not automatically assumed to be metastatic.
If however a tumor is formed in a distant or separate organ from the one where the cancer originated that is by definition metastatic or Stage 4 cancer. And ordinarily it is not considered curable though some people can live for many years with some Stage 4 cancers.

I'm so sorry about your daughter, MM. You really need to move out for many, many good reasons. Clarice and others have given you resources before for finding somewhere else that would be preferable--follow them up, I'd say!
Practically I have to join various professional societies -- it simply is expected for winning government grants -- and AAAS is one.
It is an interesting choice for you. The news can be interesting, but I'd think the research articles are less so. I find the preponderance of them to be totally incomprehensible.
I don't subscribe; I merely read it at my local library.
*fistbump*
Magazines are the new buggy whips. When whatever pampered fuzznuts was criticizing the Barrett family for adopting two Haitian children, I looked at his credentials and his undergrad dual major was African American Studies and Magazine Production. Take a bow, Florida A&M, for taking money to put out such obvious uselessness.
It is an interesting choice for you. The news can be interesting, but I'd think the research articles are less so. I find the preponderance of them to be totally incomprehensible.
"Read it at the local library" is probably an overstatement. I mostly just read the news items, and an occasional abstract. I could probably count on one hands the number of research articles I've read completely.
When you get nervous or frustrated that things aren't happening fast enough, keep in mind this old quote from President Trump, written probably at least ten years ago:
The element of surprise wins battles,so I don't tell the other side what I'm doing. I don't warn them, and I don't let them fit me comfortably into a predictable pattern. I don't want people to know exactly what I'm doing-or thinking.
I think its a requel or a seboot from last spring.
Entous should follow his idol ignatius into labeled fiction, his latest the paladin has a cia operative who infiltrates a foreign media op in italy (guess the twist) and goes to jail for itm
"About a third of New Yorkers and less than a tenth of American adults were exposed to the coronavirus by the end of July, a new study of dialysis patients found."
They randomly tested 28,000 dialysis patients. Here's the underlying study.
I'm not impressed for several reasons, but the summary kind of hints at some of my concerns: "Many patients receiving dialysis in the USA share the socioeconomic characteristics of underserved communities, and undergo routine monthly laboratory testing, facilitating a practical, unbiased, and repeatable assessment of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) seroprevalence."

I'm so sorry about your daughter, MM. You really need to move out for many, many good reasons. Clarice and others have given you resources before for finding somewhere else that would be preferable--follow them up, I'd say!

I have to ask. What do you do that prompts you to subscribe to AAAS/Science Magazine?
I don't subscribe; I merely read it at my local library.

Thanks, Catsmeat.
I am going to spend the winter looking for a suitable place, and try and move in the spring.
I am going to take that long because my daughter will need time to adjust. She has two small dogs and 2 cats.

MJW,
Thanks.
Practically I have to join various professional societies -- it simply is expected for winning government grants -- and AAAS is one.
It is an interesting choice for you. The news can be interesting, but I'd think the research articles are less so. I find the preponderance of them to be totally incomprehensible.

"Read it at the local library" is probably an overstatement. I mostly just read the news items, and an occasional abstract. I could probably count on one hands the number of research articles I've read completely.

They are no longer thinking of applying sanctions sanctions against SMIC. They have applied them.
https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/us-exports-chinas-chipmaker-smic-military-use
U.S. tightens exports to China's chipmaker SMIC, citing risk of military use
Suppliers to SMIC will have to apply for export licenses
That's not as bad as being black-listed though.

I like being unpredictable.

I don't understand why Lindsey Graham wants to wait sixteen days until the SCOTUS hearings. I think it should be no more than a week.
Posted by: MJW | September 26, 2020 at 10:23 PM
That's a link to their twitter feed announcing the article.

Pinandpuller,
antifa is also a terrorist organization, and that was announced a couple of days ago. We are waiting on BLM, because of PC, I guess,

https://nypost.com/2020/09/26/new-study-says-us-is-nowhere-near-covid-19-herd-immunity/
"About a third of New Yorkers and less than a tenth of American adults were exposed to the coronavirus by the end of July, a new study of dialysis patients found."
They randomly tested 28,000 dialysis patients. Here's the underlying study.
https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)32009-2/fulltext
